A few arena/venue notes I can add:
My mom was a big wrestling fan in her youth, and once told me that the NWA would stage cards in the town square of Garwin, Iowa in the 40s and 50s. Being outside, don't know about the attendance figures (the town has about 300, if you want a base and wish to use really old school locations.
Also, a few more additions to the list of old time venues:
The LPWA taped their cards at the Riverside Hotel in Laughlin, NV; Herb Abrams' UWF used mainly the Reseda Country Club in Reseda, California, and the Hotel Penta in New York for the Fury Hour tapings. All three of these locations held about 300-500 people.
Two final additions: Vet's Auditorium in Des Moines has been replaced as the top wrestling venue by the Wells Fargo Arena. "The Well" holds 17,000.
A local indy group uses the Des Moines Social Club downtown which has 200 seats.
Hope this info is useful.
