Do we get new match types as we buy the sets?
I only have 2087.
I think that there's nine match types, counting standard.

Match types where? I think the answer is no to both stattracker and gametable. The Pbp Sim needs some work to be able to add in more matches without causing resource issues.

Gametable/PbP
Where are some of the other matches that are listed in the GWF Ringside Companion?

They're not included even if you own those sets. Plus, I've reported a bug multiple times where it's not bringing up the few special matches we are given! This has been one of the most frustrating things about CotG Online for me.

Special Match rules actually are included in every COTGonline digital set - you can find them in the PDF handbook in the Download section for any game edition you own.
If you're looking to have the Special Match text up on screen while you use the Game Table, you can open your PDF viewer in a separate window and reference the rules when necessary.
As for your specific bug, jmello - I don't think Cliff was able to locate any cause for the issue in our system and it doesn't seem like any other user is reporting the same issue.
We also tested for the issue ourselves and can't duplicate the problem. The summon button works fine in every case. There is of course a chance that it's an issue on your systems end. What exactly? I couldn't tell you...
Regardless, your issue will be addressed soon enough as the Special Matches button will be replaced when the next version of the Game Table is released. This is scheduled for when we launch LEGENDSonline.

Thanks for letting me know Kris, that's all I ask is to know if it's looked into.
