N-TV Press Conference
-- Rikidozan and Giant Baba announced that they would officially team together and will face Australian tag team The Fabulous Kangaroos in the main event of the 2/28 Budokan Hall show. There had been some speculation as to whether Rikidozan would team with Baba or Antonio Inoki.
-- "Nature Boy" Buddy Rogers announced that he will be with LOP during the February/March tour. He said he will team with "Tiger Man" John Pesek occasionally, but on the 2/28 show he will face The Destroyer. The Destroyer commented later on that Rogers is, "a showman, not an athlete."
-- Baba also announced that the full roster will be available by the end of next week.
-- Antonio Inoki made a surprise entrance and granted his blessing to the Baba/Rikidozan team and says that he respects his senpai's (Rikidozan) decision to team with Baba. Inoki was fielding questions about whether he would compete in LOP Asian Tag Team Title tournament. As he was answering The Sheik came from behind and began assaulting Inoki! The crowd tried to intervene and Sheik began throwing wild punches at the press! Finally security guards intervened and took The Sheik off of the premises. However, Inoki was clearly hurt and spewing blood.

I love this idea for a fed and I also like how you set up a roster and are bringing in others for tours just like the Japanese feds. This looks like it will be fun. Keep up the great work and I am looking forward to the opening show and that pending Inoki vs. Sheik feud

-- World-renowned junior heavyweight Frank Gotch is joining LOP on the first tour in February and March, and his opponent for the Budokan Hall show on 2/28 has yet to be announced. However, conventional wisdom is that it will either be Jushin Lyger or Tiger Mask. Lyger has gone on the record stating, “Whoever gets the shot at Gotch deserves it. It is an honor that belongs only to Japan’s finest junior.”
-- John Pesek’s tag team partner Buddy Rogers will be busy proving himself against The Destroyer on 2/28 and Pesek will have no easy task himself: Don Leo Jonathan. Pesek said on Saturday afternoon, “His height and strength are dangerous weapons for an opponent to have in his arsenal. However, I am confident in my abilities and do not feel like I will disrespect myself with my performance at Budokan.”
-- Danny Doring will be looking to be solidify his credentials in LOP on 2/28, however his opponent Killer Kowalski is no easy task. “If I can make the most of my opportunity and prove myself worthy of a roster spot during the month we are on tour, hopefully LOP will recognize those accomplishments. Kowalski is no easy opponent, but I don’t think I am either.” Kowalski could not be reached for a comment but the general consensus is that he is more concerned with his 3/2 match against Ted Dibiase.
-- It has been announced that the PWF World Heavyweight Title will be decided in a robin round tournament during the May/June tour. LOP offices also said that while the brackets will not be finalized until April, match performance during February and March will be a determining factor in who competes for the title.
-- Antonio Inoki required twenty-seven stitches after The Sheik’s attack during the N-TV press conference. Inoki was recuperating and unavailable for comment at print time however we reached his tag team partner Argentina Rocca and he told us, “The Sheik’s attack was baseless and disgraceful. When Inoki is ready he will comment and I’m sure a challenge is forthcoming.”
-- The Fabulous Kangaroos are keeping quiet on their 2/28 match against Giant Baba and Rikidozan. They are training heavily for their LOP tour dates and feel like they will be presenting a challenge to whoever steps inside of the ring with them. Their agent, Red Berry, told us: “Baba and Rikidozan may have the home field advantage, but Al and Ray are the greatest tag team on the planet. They are not intimidated by the setting or by their opponents’s resume. Heffernan and Costello have proven themselves around the world and Japan is but another area where they can prove, once again, that they are the standard bearer in tag team wrestling.” Baba and Rikidozan were nearly mum, but Rikidozan did grumble to the press that he has “…made a career out of making westerners eat their words.”

So glad to see a Puro-only fed on the board. Kind of got a little lonely being the only "other styled" fed on the board. Budoukan card looks great so far, especially what I perceive is the semifinal with Rogers and Destroyer.

-- Steve Williams and Ted Dibiase are favorites, not just of American puroresu fans, but of the Japanese fans as well. Williams, who has been under the tutelage of Giant Baba for quite some time, makes his tag team partner endure a dojo training regimen for nearly every one of their bouts. As Williams and Dibiase prepare for their 2/28 contest against Angelo Mosca and One Man Gang—and their singles matches on 3/2 with Dibiase facing Killer Kowalski and Williams doing battle with The Sheik’s young protégé Sabu—the regimen is no different. “Not only will the world be watching our every move in LOP, but Baba-san will always be nearby and after accepting us as permanent gaijin it would be disgraceful and a disrespect to perform below expectations,” says Williams, “You can expect from us not just a successful performance, but one worthy of Baba-san himself.”
-- Frank Gotch has arrived in Japan and started training for his upcoming LOP dates. Gotch, who is considered by many wrestling publications to the best junior heavyweight in the world, had words for Japanese junior heavyweights and any potential challenger in LOP’s junior division. “Before we begin a discussion about who has the credentials to challenge me inside of the ring, they must remember that they are challenging a man who has found success in all areas of professional wrestling. I am the standard bearer across the world. While the high flying style may be popular with fans, I am pound for pound the best mat wrestler in the industry today. No cartoon character or half man, half animal can take that title away from me.”
-- The Destroyer has continued denigrating Buddy Rogers’s credentials as a professional wrestler saying that Rogers is “incapable of keeping up with me in mat wrestling” and that Rogers is more concerned with “Hollywood parties and an extravagant lifestyle that being a professional wrestler.” Rogers finally responded to The Destroyer on Monday afternoon saying that, “The Destroyer had better focus more on his training and less on attacking my character if he plans on victory at Budokan.”
-- Don Leo Jonathan has been training with tag team partner Tiger Mask for his match against John Pesek. Pesek is a junior heavyweight by weight class, but is a tough opponent for anyone who steps inside of the ring with him. Jonathan, who is one of the favorites for the PWF World Heavyweight Title tournament, does not want to start his LOP career with a loss to a junior. This clash of weight divisions will be very interesting.

-- Antonio Inoki was in contact with us on Tuesday evening and he informed that he has field with the LOP sanctioning commission for a tag team match pitting himself & Argentina Rocca vs. The Sheik & Sabu. If it is sanctioned there is no telling the kind of explosive action we could see when Inoki seeks retribution for The Sheik’s sneak attack at the N-TV press conference. More on this to come.
-- LOP will announce Frank Gotch’s challenger on the morning of 2/21. It has been confirmed that the finalists are Tiger Mask and Jushin Lyger.
-- The Fabulous Kangaroos held a press conference and were really quite dismissive of the accomplishments of both Baba and Rikidozan. Al Costello commented that Rikidozan has never cemented himself as a top tier professional wrestler outside of Japan. He contended that the Kangaroos are known across the globe and have won everywhere they went and beating Baba and Rikidozan will be no exception. The Kangaroos were met with a cool reception from the press.
-- If you thought Williams/Dibiase vs. Mosca/Gang was going to be the most intense brawl of 2/28, think again! Bobo Brazil will team with his partner King Kong Bundy to do battle with Bruiser Brody and Jimmy Snuka. There is no way to predict the chaos that will ensue when these four men take to the ring, but it should not be missed. This one could get out of control quickly. Further update on Brody and 3/2 in the next Rumblings & Grumblings.
-- Mosca/Gang were predicted by Puroresu Power to be the surprise tag team of the year in the 2010. Gang has signed on for three tours this year, so he will be around quite a bit.

-- It has been officially announced that Tiger Mask will be the man meeting Frank Gotch on 2/28. This has already been declared the battle for junior supremacy by many in the wrestling media and, while Tiger Mask was too busy training to comment on his match, Frank Gotch made his opinions known. "Tiger Mask is, again as I have said before, a wonderful competitor. However, the fact of the matter is that I have established myself in the past as not only the greatest junior heavyweight in the world, but the greatest wrestler in the world. I do not feel that Tiger Mask has a legitimate shot of beating me at Budokan."
-- The LOP sanctioning committee has ruled The Sheik & Sabu will meet Antonio Inoki & Argentina Rocca on 2/28.
