Worldwide #2 03.04.2010 from Savannah Civic Center, Savannah, GA
- WWA Owner, Jerry Jarrett addresses the crowd - The show starts with highlights of the WWA's first show, Super Clash, which took place this past saturday. The show featured a 16 man tournament to crown the first WWA World Heavyweight Champion. The exciting tournament came down to Japanese Legend Rikidozan, beating John Pesek, to become the first WWA World Heavyweight Champion!
WWA Owner, Jerry Jarret, makes his way out...
Jerry Jarrett-"I just wanted to come out for to thank all the fans, and the best roster of wrestlers in the World, for making our first show a huge success..."
Crowd roars in approval
Jerry Jarrett-"Super Clash was just the beginning. The great action doesn't stop there. Tonight we begin the tournament to crown the first WWA World Tag Team Champions. 8 teams will begin the journey tonight, and 3 weeks from now, we will crown the first WWA World Tag Team Champions. Tonight you will see teams like the Steiner Brothers(huge cheer), British Bulldogs(another huge cheer), The Valiant(chorus of boo's), The Midnight Express(boo's are even louder), and The Road Warriors(the crowd erupts in cheers). Also tonight, we will crown another champion. Tonight the two losers from the World Title tournament semi finals, Giant Baba and Antonio Inoki, will face off tonight, to crown the first WWA United States Champion! Without further adieu, let's get to the ring for our first tournament match!"
- WWA WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE TOURNAMENT-Quarterfinals - The Valiants vs. Miracle Violence Connection Jimmy Valiant defeated Terry Gordy with a DISQUALIFICATION at 4:48 Match Rating: 2.50 Match Notes: This was the first match in Worldwide history, and featured two veteran tag teams. The Valiants excellent double teaming skills proved to be the difference in the match, as they controlled a majority of the action. The Valiants would go on to win by DQ, after Jimmy hit the SUPER ELBOW on Gordy, and Williams came into break things up, yanking the ref off the mat, and tossing him aside, to get to Jimmy. The ref would call for the DQ on the Miracle Violence Connection. Williams and Gordy were not happy about being DQ'ed, and got in the ref's face, but he quickly took off. Despite the loss, MVC will most likely still be around the tag team title scene.
Jushin Liger vs. Tiger Mask Tiger Mask defeated Jushin Liger with a twisting moonsault at 11:58 Match Rating: 3.50 Match Notes: It hasn't been confirmed yet, but there are rumors that the WWA will also feature a Light Heavweight division, and who better to head up that division, than two of the most exciting Light Heavyweights in the world! Tiger Mask and Jushin Liger are superstars in Japan, and now they have brought their high flying skills to America, and faced off in a tremendous high flying affair. Tiger Mask hit the TIGER SUPLEX twice on Liger, but it was a twisting moonsault that put Liger away. Both men shook hands after the match, and got a great ovation from the fans. If a Light Heavyweight division does come to fruition in the WWA, then there is no doubt these two will meet again.
- Nick Bockwinkel angers WWA World Champ, Rikidozan - Through an interpreter, new WWA World Champion, Rikidozan, comes out, and tells the fans how excited he is to be competing here in the WWA, and how proud he is to be the first WWA Champion, and thanks the fans for their support this past weekend. Before he was finished, Nick Bockwinkel, along with Bobby Heenan, made their way out...
Bobby Heenan-"Look we all know you can speak English, and if you are going to be in the US, and carry the our companies World Title, then you need to speak English."
Heenan shoves the interpreter to the ground...
That angers Rikidozan, but he doesn't react. He helps up his translator...
Nick Bockwinkel-"What is going on in this place? I left another organization, where I was a World Champ mind you, and I come here to face a bunch of foreigners who don't seem to understand the rules. Did you all see Super Clash, these idiots were getting away with everything. Now we got two more these slopes wrestling in the main event tonight, fighting for the United States title...what is wrong with that picture! If I recall, you people tried to invade the US once, and it failed. So why don't you Harbor Bombers go back ho...."
Befoe Bockwinkel could finish his sentence, Rikidozan decked Bockwinkel, laying him out. He then backed Heenan into a corner, and delivered THUNDEROUS CHOPS on Heenan. Rikidozan left the two men laying in the middle of the ring, much to the delight of the fans.
- WWA WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE TOURNAMENT-Quarterfinals - Brian Kendrick and Paul London vs. The Midnight Express Bobby Eaton defeated Brian Kendrick with a VEG-O-MATIC at 5:11 Match Rating: 2.75 Match Notes: The Midnight Express have the experience on their side, and of course their manager, Jim Cornette, and came away with the win, thanks to the VEG-O-MATIC. The Midnight Express move on to face The Valiants in the semi finals.
- Frank Gotch wants a rematch with Bryan Danielson - Frank Gotch enters Jerry Jarrett's office...
Jerry Jarrett-"Hey Frank, tough loss the other night. I wasn't sure about putting the kid in the World Title tournament, but he petitioned me for a shot, and after looking at his record on the indy scene, I put him in. I was still surprised to see him take you out. Then again, he reminds me of you...Tough, no non sense guy, who knows how to wrestle..."
Frank Gotch-"Thats why I'm here...I want another shot at the kid. The kid surprised me, and I surprised myself going down like that the other night. You rarely see me submit, but somehow he pulled it off. Maybe it was just an off night, I don't know, but I want another shot, to see what this kid is made of..."
Jerry Jarrett-"No problem. How about tonight?"
Frank Gotch-"That's perfect. Thank you."
Jerry Jarrett-"No, thank you. Thank you for coming to the WWA. We can definitely use a guy like you to get the WWA off the ground..."
Gotch nods his head, and heads out of the office. The rematch from Gotch's first round loss to Bryan Danielson at Super Clash, is made for later tonight!
Bob Roop vs. Harley Race Harley Race defeated Bob Roop with an Indian Deathlock at 11:59 Match Rating: 3.50 Match Notes: This was another rematch from Super Clash. Bob Roop also pulled off a first round upset in the World Title tournament, when he knocked off the great Harley Race. Race wanted this rematch tonight, and got it. Just like the other night, Roop was game, and gave Race a tough match. Roop even kicked out of Race's dreaded PILEDRIVER. But the PILEDRIVER did enough damage to Roop, that Bob couldn't recover, and he would tap out to the Indian Deathlock.
- WWA WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE TOURNAMENT-Quarterfinals - Steiner Brothers vs. The British Bulldogs Davey Boy Smith defeated Scott Steiner with a RUNNING POWERSLAM at 18:52 Match Rating: 4.25 Match Notes: This was a great tag team match, between two popular teams, and two of the best young teams around. The Steiner Brothers dominated most of the match. We saw Scott hit his FRANKENSTEINER early, and Rick hit his STEINER DRIVER twice, and they connected on their STEINER DDT finisher. But the Bulldogs are a tough team to beat, and they kept fighting, until Davey Boy Smith managed to land his RUNNING POWERSLAM, and give the British Bulldogs a big win, and advance them to the semi finals of the World Tag Team Title tournament. The four men shook hands after the match.
- Nick Bockwinkel demands title match! - Nick Bockwinkel and Bobby Heenan storm into Jerry Jarrett's office, angry over what happened earlier with Rikidozan...
Nick Bockwinkel-"...This is bull!! I want all these foreigners out of the WWA! They have no respect for us or our rules!"
Jerry Jarrett-"Are you kidding me?! You want to talk about respect, what about respect for your fellow human. Rikidozan, Antonio Inoki, Baba, Liger, Tiger Mask...they may be Japanese, but they are humans just like you and I, and if you were tossing around racial slurs like that at me, I would deck you too!!"
Nick Bockwinkel-"So you are just going to let them invade the WWA?! Why did I even come here?!"
Bobby Heenan-"You know what...If you want send them back, then we will...We want a title match with Rikidozan."
Jerry Jarrett-"Hold on there...Nick, I'll give you a match with Rikidozan next week, but if you want a title shot then earn it...After all, you went down to Inoki in the Quarterfinals..."
That comment angers Bockwinkel...
Nick Bockwinkel-"Fine, I'll take it. I'll beat his ass next week, and then I'll beat him again, and become World Champion again..."
Heenan and Bockwinkel storm off...
- Recap of Bryan Danielson beating Frank Gotch at Super Clash - Before the next match, we cut to highlights of an excellent match at Super Clash, between Frank Gotch and Bryan Danielson. We see Danielson shocking everyone, and making Gotch tap to the CATTLE MUTILATION!
Bryan Danielson vs. Frank Gotch Bryan Danielson defeated Frank Gotch with a suplex arsenal at 18:32 Match Rating: 4.25 Match Notes: This was another great wrestling match, that the fans were really into, and Danielson, despite being locked in the GOTCH TOEHOLD twice, pulls out a second upset of Frank Gotch!! After the match, Gotch got on the mic...
Frank Gotch-"You know, I've heard talk about this guy named "American Dragon," and that he is one of the best technical wrestlers to enter the squared circle in a long time. I shrugged it off. I didn't think there was anyone else out there who really knew this craft like I did. Then I saw you step in that ring this past saturday, and I took a look at you, and i wasn't impressed. To me, you looked like that nerd who used to get beat up at lunch time in school...But then that bell rang, and that perception went right out the window. You did something that few men can do, and that was make me tap out. But yet, somehow that wasn't enough to convince me...But tonight, you gave me one of the best matches I've had in years, and you convinced me you are the real deal!"
The fans cheer like crazy...
Frank Gotch-"I see big things for you kid. Anytime you need a tag team partner, or someone to train with, you give me a call, and I will be there."
Bryan Danielson-"You are one of the greats of all time, and it was an honor for me to be in the same ring with you. It would be a privelege to learn from the best there is. I will take you up on that offer..."
The two men shake hands, and the fans cheer wildly, and chant both men's names.
- WWA WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE TOURNAMENT-Quarterfinals - D-Lo Brown and Les Thatcher vs. Road Warriors D-Lo Brown defeated Animal with a DISQUALIFICATION at 22:56 Match Rating: 4.25 Match Notes: D-Lo Brown has trained under Les Thatcher, so the two decided to form a team, and try their hand at winning the tag team titles. But their first match as a team would be against one of the most dominating teams in history, the Road Warriors! But Brown and Thatcher were not intimidated by Hawk and Animal, and the two teams turned in a fantastic tag team match, and a very even match. After battling back and forth for over ten minutes, the Road Warriors looked like they had it put away, after hitting the DOOMSDAY DEVICE on Thatcher, but Brown came to great it up. The battle continued, and Brown came in, and started to gain some momentum, and landed the LO DOWN on Animal, but Hawk came in to break it up, and dropped a big elbow off the middle turnbuckle, to the back of the head of Brown, and cost the ref in the process. This cost the Road Warriors the match by DQ. The Road Warriors were not happy about the outcome, and neither were the fans. Regardless, Brown and Thatcher advance to the semi finals, to face the British Bulldogs.
- WWA UNITED STATES CHAMPIONSHIP - Antonio Inoki vs. Giant Baba for the WWA United States Championship Giant Baba defeated Antonio Inoki with a back suplex at 8:04 Match Rating: 3.50 Match Notes: Both of these Japanese stars made it to the semi finals of the World Title tournament, and both lost. But they still get their chance at WWA gold tonight, battling for the United States Title. The fans got behind both men, and they gave us a good match. In the end, Giant Baba dropped Antonio Inoki with a wicked back suplex, and picks up the victory. Giant Baba becomes the first WWA United States Champion!
Giant Baba won the WWA United States Championship
Overall Card Rating: 3.56
