Heartland Championship Wrestling
King of the Indies: Chikara!
December 9, 2017 (Card #815)
Kohl Center, Madison, Wisconsin
The show opens with the tune, "Awake and Alive" by Skillet playing overhead. DAYTONDAVE & WARLORD enter the arena to a mixed response from the Kohl Center faithful. Daytondave: Hey, fans! Welcome to CHIKARA Saturday Night!
Warlord: Right here in the heart of Badger Country!
(
Boos)
Warlord: What?
Daytondave: No worries, big man. They don't take losing well up here.
Warlord: Losing? Losing what? Football? Basketball?
Daytondave: Both.
Warlord: Ouch.
Daytondave: Yeah, my Buckeyes OWNED the Badgers last week.
(
Boos)
Warlord: Tough crowd.
Daytondave: We can handle it. We are Buckeyes!
(
Boos)
Daytondave: Fair enough. There are Buckeyes and there are Badgers, but we are all wrestling fans here, and we have plenty of great action ahead. The
Campeonatos de Parejas title will be defended tonight in our Main Event when
THE COLONY meet
N-R-G, and the CHIKARA Grand Championship Tournament continues! It's gonna be a wild ride tonight, fans- so relax, grab yourself a cold one, and enjoy the show!
CHIKARA TRIOS
THE SPECTRAL ENVOY (HALLOWICKED, FRIGHTMARE, & ULTRAMANTIS BLACK) defeated TEAM F.I.S.T. (ICARUS, GRAN AKUMA*, & JOHNNY GARGANO*)The Trios action blew up the Kohl Center and got the crowd rocking. All six men flew in and out of the ring at a dizzying pace, with the Envoy controlling most of the action. Frightmare and Hallowicked annihilated Akuma with a double knee strike, setting the stage for Hallowicked to catch the pin on Gargano with a Rydeen Bomb.
Warlord: These guys rock!
Daytondave: Am I right? The action of a CHIKARA trios match will light up the night.
TRISH STRATUS* (w/JIMMY HART) pinned JESSICKA HAVOK*A wild brawl in the Ladies' division! Jessicka pounded on Trish and the match quickly spilled out of the ring. On the arena floor, Jessicka continued to pummel Trish despite the encouragement of Jimmy Hart at ringside. Trish finally saw an opportunity and reversed an Irish Whip, sending Jessicka slamming into the steel steps! Referee
BIG JIM THE ENFORCER finally herded the action back into the ring, where Trish took advantage of the opportunity to hit Stratusfaction for the pin.
Warlord: Wow! Those chicks threw down!
Daytondave: That was a very intense contest. Trish took a lot of punishment- congratulations to her for a terrific comeback victory! Okay, fans- we are ready now for the first CHIKARA Grand Championship Tournament match of the night.
CHIKARA GRAND CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT
RICOCHET (7) defeated AUSTIN ARIES** (10) by disqualificationAries came out confident and looked to overpower Ricochet, but Ricochet took plenty of punishment. Aries dropped Ricochet with a pair of Death Valley Drivers, but was unable to keep Ricochet down! Ricochet responded out of nowhere with a Rickrack, and in a flash, Aries found himself on the receiving end of a Chocolate Rain! Aries kicked out and went to the floor for a breather, but Ricochet kept the pressure on and followed Aries out of the ring. A fierce brawl erupted, and neither man was willing to give an inch. In his frustration, Aries slammed Ricochet onto the announcers' table and the referee called for the DQ.
After the decision, Aries confronted the referee angrily, going so far as to shove the official before Heartland security arrived to send Aries back to the locker room.Warlord: Take a chill pill, dude!
Daytondave: A bad outcome for Aries- but I think it was a good call by the referee. With the Grand Championship on the line, this tournament needs be contested on the straight and narrow. Let's check out the next match in the tournament.
CHIKARA GRAND CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT
RODERICK STRONG (3) defeated TJ PERKINS**** (14) by countoutOn the heels of losing his Generic Secondary Championship, Strong came out at the peak of his game. Roderick owned Perkins with strikes and submission holds, preventing Perkins from establishing his fast-paced attacks. The battle wore on until Strong clamped on the LeBell Lock. Perkins struggled, and finally made it to the bottom rope, but the damage had been done. Roderick nailed a Sick Kick on Perkins, sending TJ tumbling out of the ring. TJ landed awkwardly and laid on the concrete, gripping his lower back. TJ struggled to his hands and knees at the count of seven, but was unable to make it back to the ring.
Daytondave: Strong did everything he wanted in that match- and he moves on in cominant fashion. That sets up a showdown between Strong and
TIM DONST in round two.
Warlord: Gee Willikers! That will be Roderick's first meeting with the Xavier Alliance since they took his Generic Secondary Championship. I bet he's coming for revenge!
Daytondave: That could be a dangerous situation for Roderick. All right, fans- we're off to a hot start tonight. Let's head to
LARRY SWEENEY for this week's episode of
"Sweet Talk"!The scene shifts to the set of "Sweet Talk", where Larry Sweeney stands alongside KIMBER LEE. JESSIE MCKAY sits on the sofa alongside joebreakdown, although Jessie appears to be unhappy. Sweeney: Hello, Loserville! Normally I ain't much of a Buckeye fan, but you Sconnies got PUNKED last week and I think it's pretty pathetic. Larry Sweeney likes winners!
(
Boos)
Sweeney: Hahaha! Whatever. It's a little somber here at
Sweet Talk, since neither of my girls are in contention for the Ladies' Title at the moment. But things are going to change- believe me. Now, let's get on to the Indies! It's been a couple of weeks since we talked- and a lot of things have gone down! Of course,
ADAM COLE is still the
King Of The Indies- but there is a new number one contender on the horizon and it's gonna be brutal.
HOMICIDE is now the #1 man after he won Survival of the Fittest and beat
KENNY OMEGA in the process. Homicide is a totally different contender than Cole has ever faced- dude is gonna have his hands full.
(
Cheers)
Sweeney: THE TRIBE have won the 2017 Independent Tag Team League, and they have earned another shot at the
King Of The Indies Tag Championship. KENNY OMEGA & CHRIS SABIN still hold the KOTI belts, and they are on top of the world! But The Tribe is hitting on all cylinders, and you KNOW they will be looking to take the titles when they hook up with the champs.
(
Cheers)
Sweeney: It's still hard to believe that
DELIRIOUS had to give up the
CHIKARA Grand Championship. The freakin'
XAVIER ALLIANCE has pulled one over on CHIKARA, and now the title is vacant. But leave it to Daytondave to make lemonade when life hands out lemons. The Grand Championship Tournament is a stroke of genius! Of course, my guy
ADAM PEARCE has the inside track.
CLAUDIO CASTAGNOLI is another one of the favorites, at least according to Kevin Butcher- and @kevinb is a man who knows his wrestling. The Grand Championship Tournament Final will take place at our Year-End Extravaganza on December 26, and I can't wait to see who will take the title!
(
Cheers)
Sweeney: It's hard to believe how many Indy titles have changed hands over the past few weeks. Where do I start? The biggest shocker was
HALLOWICKED winning the
FIP Championship from
BRYAN DANIELSON. I never saw that coming! I was almost as shocked when
CEDRIC ALEXANDER finally lost the
Atlanta Wrestling Entertainment title to
SAMI CALLIHAN. Alexander dominated that belt for months before Sami and Uncle John's Friends came along. Congratulations also to
KELLY KLEIN, who regained the
AWE Women's Championship in a brutal rematch against
DEONNA PURRAZZO.(
Cheers)
Sweeney: Evolve Wrestling saw both their major titles change hands!
DAVEY RICHARDS toppled
TRACY WILLIAMS to grab the Evolve Championship, and
TEAM TREMENDOUS found a way to tin the Tag Team Titles over
ROPPONGI VICE. There's no end of the surprises that
BILL CARR and
DAN BARRY can pull off. The
Ultimate Kombat Tag Team Championship was won by two dudes I never heard of,
ERIK WATTS & TY MATTHEWS. Good job, blokes! Even more surprising was the performance BY
CHUCK TAYLOR & ORANGE CASSIDY to win the
Beyond Wrestling Tag Team Championship. Well, mostly Taylor.
(
Cheers)
Sweeney: Finally, people, I close with kudos to one of CHIKARA's favorites,
SUGAR DUNKERTON! Suge might be the nicest guy I ever met in this business, and he is now the proud champion of
TRADITION Wrestling. Good luck with that, my friend. The over-under on the Tradition fed says they won't last three months. Management couldn't even promote its own championship tournament! For my money, Tradition Wrestling is deader than
DAVID CASSIDY. (
Boos)
Sweeney: What? You people booed my David Cassidy line? You can't be serious. I'm over here wishing a happy eternity to a rock legend like
TOM PETTY, and that dork
CRUEFAN wants to tout David Cassidy. It's no wonder that Jessie McKay dumped your candy ass,
cruefan68!
Sweeney drops the mic and walks away.Daytondave: Wow. Just wow. That was one epic Cruefan blast! On that note, let's head back to the ring as the Grand Championship Tournament rolls on.
CHIKARA GRAND CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT
CHUCK TAYLOR***** (16) pinned ETHAN PAGE**** (1)Taylor and Page threw down in a battle for the ages! Page pounded on Taylor with one high-impact move after another, and beat Taylor down on the arena floor. But Taylor survived a BOOM! Head Shot and battled back, delivering a series of big boots and dropping Page with the Sole Food for a two count. Both men staggered to their feet, and Page caught Taylor flush with a Superkick! Sensing victory, Page hoisted Taylor up and planted him with the Spinning Dwayne! It looked like Taylor was finished, but Chuckie managed to get his foot over the bottom rope to interrupt the count. Taylor dug deep, and caught Page coming in with an enzuigiri out of nowhere! Using the last of his strength, Taylor lifted Page and put him down with the Omega Driver to earn the three count!
Daytondave: Chuck Taylor just keeps on rolling! As you heard from Larry Sweeney, Taylor tore up the Beyond Wrestling Tag Team Tournament, and he is one of the top guys in the singles ranks out there. Now, he is a step closer to CHIKARA gold!
CHIKARA GRAND CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT
EDDIE KINGSTON**** (4) pinned MARK ANGELOSETTI*** (13)Angelosetti battled Kingston on even footing for quite some time. Mr. Touchdown controlled the in-ring action and scored a couple of near-falls, but Angelosetti was unable to finish the deal. Kingston took the match to the arena floor on several occasions, and roughed up Angelosetti with kicks and clotheslines. The referee persuaded the combatants to return to the ring, where a tired Angelosetti fell prey to the Sliding D from Kingston for the finish.
Daytondave: Great match!
Warlord: I thought Angelosetti might have won that one.
Daytondave: He did well- Angelosetti is a guy who's not afraid to stand up to the toughest guys in the business. Unfortunately, Eddie is the king of the brawlers and Angelosetti couldn't get the best of him tonight. All right, fans- it's time for the Main Event- and the Campeonatos de Parejas is on the line!
MAIN EVENT: CHIKARA CAMPEONATOS DE PAREJAS
THE COLONY (GREEN ANT & FIRE ANT) defeated N-R-G (HYPE ROCKWELL & RACE JAXON) by disqualificationIt was a fast-paced, exciting match between these two top teams, until
WAR MACHINE hit the ring!
RAYMOND ROWE pulled Green Ant out of the ring, and
HANSON annihilated Green Ant with a running kick to the head! The referee called for the bell immediately and awarded the decision to The Colony as a result of the interference.
THE COLONY RETAIN THE CAMPEONATOS DE PAREJASAfter the decision, War Machine was not finished. The big men climbed into the ring and set their sights on Fire Ant. Rowe lifted Fire Ant into the air, and Hanson prepared for a flying lariat, but Rockwell and Jaxon came to the rescue! Jaxon delivered a rolling chop block to Rowe, causing Rowe to drop Fire Ant. Rockwell launched a dropkick at Hansen, knocking the big man off the turnbuckle and down to the arena floor! TTX XAVIER quickly headed to ringside and led the War Machine to safety as both The Colony and N-R-G stood in the ring, pointing and challenging War Machine to return to the ring. But Xavier led the War Machine through the curtain as the fans jeered.Daytondave: Unbelievable! Another Campeonatos title match ruined by the War Machine. I am fed up with that. I am booking a rematch for The Colony and N-R-G - and the Xavier Alliance will be BANNED from ringside! Those four young men in the ring deserve the chance to meet for the title in a fair fight, and I intend to make it happen. All right, fans- we're done here. Thanks for checking us out tonight! CHIKARA will be back in action this Wednesday night for a midweek special. The Grand Championship Tournament will continue, and in our Special Feature Match, the team of
HEIDI LOVELACE & EVIE will battle
THE DOLL HOUSE for a shot at the Heartland Ladies' Tag Team Championship. That's our show, and I AM OUTTA HERE!
