Heartland Championship Wrestling Old School Saturday Night June 27, 2009 (Card #226) Sovereign Center, Reading, Pennsylvania The show opens with JR JAMES in the ring in front of a packed house in Reading, Pennsylvania. As the crowd roars, a banner is unfurled from the arena ceiling!JR: Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to Old School Saturday Night! The fine folks here at Heartland Championship Wrestling are proud to bring you tonight's special broadcast. We are just one week away from Freedom Festival 2009, where all seven HCW championships will be contended. So, tonight, we will bring you a special Freedom Festival preview show! We have two challengers yet to be decided, and those matches will be held right here this evening. We'll see the number one contenders' match for the United States Tag Team Championship, as the ROAD WARRIORS go to battle against the VACHON BROTHERS. That match should be explosive! In order to keep things under control during that battle, there will be a Special Guest Referee- one-half of the United States Tag Team Champions, BOB ARMSTRONG!The fans cheer as the elder Armstrong appears at the top of the ramp in a referee shirt and waves.JR: And that is not all, ladies and gentlemen. The number one contender's position for the U.S. Heavyweight Championship will also be decided tonight when GIANT BABA moves out against NICK BOCKWINKEL. That confrontation should be a legendary bout indeed. And, our dramatic main event tonight will be the culmination of a long-standing feud when KING KONG BUNDY meets KILLER KOWALSKI in a Last Man Standing match! Three monumental matches are on the card tonight, plus a whole lot more! Now, let's head to the ring for tonight's opening contest! (Tonight's referee: Nick Patrick)FREEDOM FESTIVAL PREVIEW MATCH THE DESTROYER & THE MISSING LINK vs. BRAD ARMSTRONG & MATT JACKSONThe reigning U.S. Heavyweight Champion and the Ultimate X Champion joined forces to take on two exciting young stars in the opening bout. The young upstarts functioned more effectively as a unit, and dazzled the fans with a series of double-team dropkicks on Link. Matt took to the air, levelling Link with a scintillating slingshot plancha. Link and his young challenger battled evenly for several minutes before the Destroyer tagged in. Jackson escaped trouble and made the tag to Brad, but Destroyer overpowered him and took him to the canvas. Destroyer applied a brutal Single Leg Boston Crab, and forced a submission from Brad as Link cut off Matt from making the save. WINNERS: DESTROYER & MISSING LINK(Destroyer forced Armstrong to submit to the Single-Leg Boston Crab)JR: A very impressive opening contest indeed! Even in a mere exhibition match, all four men brought their intensity at its peak. Destroyer proved why he is the top man on Old School by taking out a formidable competitor. At the same time, Matt Jackson proved his mettle in that match, and there is no question that he will provide the Missing Link with a stern test for the Ultimate X Championship at the Freedom Festival. FREEDOM FESTIVAL PREVIEW MATCH RAY STEVENS, OX BAKER, & LARRY ZBYSZKO (w/ BOBBY 'THE BRAIN' HEENAN) vs. BRUISER BRODY, THE MOUNTIE, & ANGELO MOSCAThe Heenan Family strode to the ring with all the gold, sporting the Heartland Heavyweight Championship and the HCW Tag Team Titles! The challengers were mismatched, but determined to prove themselves heading into Philadelphia. The match itself was gritty and intense. Zbyszko took over on Mosca in the early going and nearly put him down with the Larryland Sleeper. But Mountie managed to tag himself in and turn the tables, outwrestling Baker and nearly forcing him to tap out to the Boston Crab. Stevens hit the ring to make the save, prompting Brody to come after his rival. In an instant, all six men were in the ring and chaos ensued. Amidst the confusion, Mountie retrieved his Shock Stick and zapped the fallen Baker. Nick Patrick was shielded from the action, but was able to return to the scene of the crime and count Baker down for the decision. WINNERS: BRUISER BRODY, THE MOUNTIE, & ANGELO MOSCA(Mountie pinned Baker after activating the Shock Stick)After the decision, an irate Zbyszko charged after Mountie, pointing and screaming while Heenan berated Nick Patrick and Stevens came to the aid of Baker. But Mosca defended his partner and Zbyszko was forced to back down before the confrontation could escalate.JR: No question, this Canadian team is devious and dangerous. Their rivalry with the Heenan Family continues to fester, and one week from tonight it will be 2 out of 3 falls for the Heartland Tag Team Championship! Needless to day, Heartland Heavyweight Champion Ray Stevens will have his hands full as well in what promises to be a dynamite Supercard! Now, let's move on to the most important business of the evening- our Number One Contender's matches! UNITED STATES TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP: #1 CONTENDERS' MATCH THE ROAD WARRIORS vs. THE VACHON BROTHERS (BUTCHER & MAD DOG w/ NIKITA BREZNIKOV)WIth Bob Armstrong serving as the third man in the ring, there would be no nonsense in this match! The Roadies were all business in dismantling the Vachons, capped by a spectacular Doomsday Device on Mad Dog. Breznikov tried to distract Armstrong to interrupt the three count, but the guest referee would have none of it and counted the pin to make the decision official. WINNERS: THE ROAD WARRIORS(Hawk pinned Mad Dog after a Doomsday Device)JR: Looks like we picked the right man indeed to officiate that contest. Armstrong did his job, the Road Warriors did their job, and this Saturday Night in Philadelphia it will be Armstrongs versus Road Warriors for the U.S. Tag Titles! Animal is in the ring talking some trash to Bob Armstrong, but the mutual respect between these two teams is evident and it appears that these men will shake hands and see each other in Philly! Who will head to Freedom Festival as the challenger for the U.S. Heavyweight Championship? Now is the time we answer that question. UNITED STATES HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP: #1 CONTENDERS' MATCH GIANT BABA vs. NICK BOCKWINKELIn a surprisingly one-sided match, Baba took control at the opening bell and dominated Bockwinkel to earn a decisive victory. WINNER: GIANT BABA(Baba pinned Bockwinkel after a Neckbreaker Drop)JR: A most impressive win indeed for the Japanese giant! Baba moves on to Freedom Festival to face off against The Destroyer! Can the intelligent, sensational one withstand the power of Baba? Tune in on Saturday to watch that battle and much more! And now, fans, the time has come for our Main Event of the evening. This one won't be for the faint of heart as two mammoth men with a monstrous hatred come to blows for the final time. LAST MAN STANDING KILLER KOWALSKI vs. KING KONG BUNDYA brutal match between the behemoths nearly brought the Sovereign Center to the ground! The match opened as a brutal slugfest as both men stood toe-to-toe and battled it out. After several minutes of brawling, Kowalski gained the advantage outside of the ring by hiptossing Bundy onto the announcers' table! With Bundy staggered, Kowalski smartly went to the air, leaping onto Bundy with a double axe-handle, followed by repeated knee drops which punished Bundy. But the aerial attack left Kowalski gassed, and the Killer was forced to slow the pace. He continued to work over Bundy with choke holds and armbars, then locked on a vicious claw hold! Bundy was barely able to respond, struggling and kicking at the mat as Kowalski sapped the strength from him. JIM CORNETTE dashed into the ring, but Kowalski stood quickly and drew back a fist, sending Cornette scrambling for safety. Bundy was too weak to mount an effective response, and Kowalski returned to his punishment. Kowalski put the boots to Bundy with a vengeance, but Kong finally got back to his feet. Kowalski whipped him to the turnbuckle, but Bundy alertly caught him coming in with an elbow smash and stunned the big Canadian. Bundy pitched him to the arena floor, but Kowalski grabbed Bundy by the back of the head, slamming him into the steel ring steps and busting him open! Bundy was nearly out on his feet when Kowalski viciously tore into his injured flesh with a claw hold. SHERRI MARTEL came from the locker room, pummeling on Bundy's back with both fists as Kowalski brought him to his knees. Sherri's shrieks echoed through the arena as the crowd sat in stunned silence. Bundy collapsed to the floor, and sherri turned her attention to Cornette. Cornette made a break for it, but Sherri jumped on his back and sent the manager sprawling to the floor. Sherri beat Cornette viciously with both fists, until Nick Patrick finally pulled her away. But as Cornette scrambled to his feet, he was met by Kowalski, who clamped the massive claw hold onto Cornette's face! With Bundy's blood still fresh on the claw hand, Kowalski dug his fingers into the temples of Cornette, smearing blood on his face. Cornette slumped to the floor in a heap, unconscious, and stained with Bundy's blood. Kowalski screamed and held his bloody claw hand in the air. The fans erupted with applause as Kowalski stood over Bundy and Cornette. Nick Patrick hauled Sherri back to the dressing room, kicking and screaming and spitting at Cornette as she was dragged through the curtain. WINNER: KILLER KOWALSKI(Kowalski subdued Bundy with the Claw Hold)JR: What a shocking and graphic end to what has been a brutal feud between Sherri Martel and Jim Cornette. In the end, it was Killer Kowalski who put an end to this situation by leaving both Bundy and Cornette bloodied and out cold on the floor of the Sovereign Center. Sherri has had her vengeance, but she continues to bear the scars of this ugly feud and there is no question she will have a permanent and horrific memory of one James E. Cornette. All of us who have witnessed those atrocities will not come away the same. But, ladies and gentlemen, we have seen some terrific and important action here this evening. Congratulations to GIANT BABA and to the ROAD WARRIORS for securing their title matches at Freedom Festival 2009! The big event is just one week away, live from Philadelphia! So be sure to join us next week when all seven HCW championships will be on the line! Until then, fans, so long from the Keystone State! WINNER: THE SANDMAN(Sandman pinned Kingston after rolling through a deathjump)House of Hardcore 1, Sweet 'N Sour 0BLOODLUST (DRAKE YOUNGER & JUSTIN CREDIBLE) vs. BUFF BAGWELL & CLAUDIO CASTAGNOLIThe animosity continued to build between the squads as the tag team match heated up. Bagwell seemed intent on provoking his opponents, getting both Younger and Credible riled up. Claudio did his part, catching Younger with a sting slap to the chest and spitting on him. Younger lost it and rolled to the floor, where he grabbed a light tube and proceeded to smash Claudio across the back! Todd Sinclair quickly called for the disqualification and awarded the match to Sweet 'N Sour. WINNERS (via disqualification): BUFF BAGWELL & CLAUDIO CASTAGNOLIHouse of Hardcore 1, Sweet 'N Sour 1After the decision, Younger wasn't satisfied. He continued to whack Claudio with the mangled shards of the light tube, opening a nasty gash on Claudio's left arm! Members of Sweet 'N Sour dashed to his assistance, but Credible fended them off with his cane. By the time order was restored, Claudio was bleeding profusely from the arm and had to be taken from ringside by the Heartland trainers.Daytondave: What an ugly mess! Dude is gonna need stitched up for sure. Let's see what happens in the final match- if Sweet 'N Sour advances, we'll check with the trainers to see if Claudio will be able to return for the finals. SABU vs. COWBOY BOB ORTONDespite the furor surrounding the tag team match, the veteran Orton kept his head. Orton kept the pace of the match at a crawl, grounding Sabu and never letting him unleash his brutal offensive fury. After planting Sabu with a piledriver, Orton took him to the top rope and drove him down with a Superplex to secure the victory! WINNER: COWBOY BOB ORTON(Orton pinned Sabu after a Superplex)FINAL RESULT: Sweet 'N Sour 2, House of Hardcore 1Daytondave: What a clutch performance by Bob Orton! The most experienced competitor in the challenge and he certainly made his experience pay off. Thanks to that victory, Sweet 'N Sour moves on to the finals of the Team Challenge Series- but they will be without the services of Claudio Castagnoli, who was injured earlier tonight at the hands of Drake Younger. Sweet 'N Sour will have a tough night ahead as they move into the finals against THE NATION OF HONOR!SWEET 'N SOUR, INC. vs. THE NATION OF HONOREDDIE KINGSTON vs. ILIO DiPAOLOIn an inspired performance, Eddie Kingston took everything DiPaolo could dish out and kept on coming. DiPaolo outwrestled Kingston consistently, but continued to battle and wore down Ilio with his roughhousing tactics. Kingston used the Backdrop Driver and the backfist with great success, putting DiPaolo on the defensive. In desperation, DiPaolo went to the top turnbuckle, but Kingston ducked the attempted bodypress and DiPaolo crashed to the mat hard! That proved to be the turning point as Kingston grabbed his stunned opponent and put him away! WINNER: EDDIE KINGSTON(Kingston pinned DiPaolo after a Lariat)Sweet 'N Sour 1, Nation of Honor 0After the fall, DRAKE YOUNGER and JUSTIN CREDIBLE returned to ringside and attacked Kingston! But BOB ORTON and BUFF BAGWELL fought off the attack and chased the members of the House of Hardcore back to the dressing room.Daytondave: Wow! What a terrific match! Both men brought their best- and Eddie Kingston has shocked the Heartland with an improbable upset! Even the sour grapes of the House of Hardcore couldn't dampen the moment for Sweet 'N Sour. We're still not clear, fans, as to what the squad will do without Castagnoli, but it appears that Orton is going to go ahead and tag up with Bagwell for the next match. COWBOY BOB ORTON & BUFF BAGWELL vs. ANTONIO INOKI & TIGER MASKThe Nation came back strong in tag team competition. Inoki dominated both opponents, finally blasting Orton with a devastating Enzuigiri. Bagwell tried to make the save, but Tiger Mask cut him off and Inoki was able to complete the pinfall. WINNERS: ANTONIO INOKI & TIGER MASK(Inoki pinned Orton after an Enzuigiri)Sweet 'N Sour 1, Nation of Honor 1Daytondave: The moment of truth has arrived! The Team Challenge Series all comes down to this! I'm going to get a word with Bob Orton to see what he has in mind for the final match. Mr. Orton, will you be wrestling in the final match? Orton: Don't you worry, Daytondave. I've already wrestled twice tonight. But my man Bagwell has got this under control. Daytondave: So Bagwell is going to wrestle the final match? Bagwell: He didn't say THAT, Daytondave. He said, we have this covered! The loudspeakers begin to play a sultry theme song, and the bewildered fans begin searching the park. MIL MASCARAS stands in the ring, pointing and shrugging as the music wails. Suddenly, a voice thunders over the speakers.Voice: CUT THE MUSIC! What I'd like to have right now is for all you toothless, lame-brained, trailer-park wannabes to SHUT YOUR MOUTHS and watch what a real man looks like in that ring! The fans gasp as RAVISHING RICK RUDE struts to the ring, accompanied by SARA DEL REY. Rude removes his sequined robe and slides into the ring, glaring menacingly at Mascaras, but the Mexican legend stands unimpressed as he prepares for the bell to ring.Daytondave: Rick Rude? Fans, I never saw this coming! True to the tradition of Sweet 'N Sour, Bagwell had an ace in the hole, even after Claudio Castagnoli went down earlier this evening. The stakes are high! The $50,000 top prize is on the line and it all comes down to this match! 'RAVISHING' RICK RUDE vs. MIL MASCARASThe element of surprise was clearly on the side of The Ravishing One! Rude took control from the opening bell, launching himself into Mascaras with a fury. Mascaras never got untracked, and Rude was relentless in his attack. Mascaras survived the Rude Awakening, but he was clearly stunned by the powerful move and Rude put him away for a decisive victory! WINNER: 'RAVISHING' RICK RUDE(Rude pinned Mascaras after a Top Rope Kneedrop)FINAL RESULT: SWEET 'N SOUR 2, NATION OF HONOR 1SWEET 'N SOUR, INC. WINS THE TEAM CHALLENGE SERIESDaytondave: Do you believe this? Out of nowhere, Sweet 'N Sour, Incorporated has captured the Team Challenge Series! And of all people... Rick Rude made it happen! Last we saw Rude, he was in exile, but he has a history with Buff Bagwell and it was Bagwell who pulled the rabbit out of the hat! Cousin Luke is in the ring, handing a briefcase to Bob Orton for the $50,000 cash prize. CLAUDIO CASTAGNOLI makes his way back from the locker room, his arm heavily bandaged. He joins his teammates in the ring, but greets Rude with an icy glare.Claudio: Rick Rude, you are scum. You stole my money once and now you come to steal from me again! Claudio reaches up and slaps Rude across the mouth. Rude flinches, but holds his temper. He turns to Orton and holds his hand out. Orton gives him his share of the cash, and Rude turns and gives the cash to Claudio.Rude: No hard feelings, dude. That witch SO CAL VAL played me just as much as she played you. I'm just glad to be back in the ring to take care of business. Claudio accepts the cash and gives Rude a handshake.Daytondave: Well, nothing like a little cold hard cash to settle a bitter grudge! Congratulations again to Sweet 'N Sour Incorporated for a most improbable victory in the Team Challenge Series! What a terrific prelude to the upcoming Freedom Festival 2009. JR is dressed in a fashionable tuxedo, while Daytondave wears a handsomely tailored Chevron suit from Dolce & Gabbana. Luke has his hair slicked back, beard freshly trimmed, and boots shined. He is accompanied by MISS BERTHA, who wears a black double-wide chiffon pant suit. Bertha grins widely, the spotlights glimmering off her tooth as she waves to the enthusiastic crowd. Red, white, and blue streamers fall from the ceiling as "Born to Run" plays on the speaker system.Luke: Howdy, y'all! It's a fine day in the U. S. of A.! We jes' wanna welcome all y'all here to Philadelphia for tonight's rasslin! We got all our Heartland titles being rassled tonight! Luke looks at his fingers momentarily, then shrugs.JR: That's right, Commissioner, all seven Heartland Titles will be contested this evening in this very ring! Daytondave: Nice save, JR. The Commish was about to blow a circuit there. JR: Now, Daytondave, show some respect. You don't want to embarrass the Commissioner in front of his lady friend. Luke: Aw, that's all right, Jimmy. Nuttin' is gonna bring me down on such a special night! JR: You must be very excited about Freedom Festival 2009! Luke: I got lots to be excited for, Jimmy. No place I'd rather be than right here in Philly, with my little filly! Daytondave: Know what else is exciting, boss? HCW was just named Federation of the Month on the Greatest Board in the Galaxy! Luke: That's right impressive, Daytondave. Keep up the good work. Y'all are makin' me as happy as a pig in slop! Daytondave: Life doesn't get any better than that, sir. Fans, this is the biggest night in HCW history, and I can't wait to get these matches started! So grab yourself a cold one, relax, and enjoy the show! ULTIMATE X CHAMPIONSHIP THE MISSING LINK (c) vs. 'MR. ACTION REPLAY' MATT JACKSON(Referee: Todd Sinclair)A surprise ending to the opening bout! Link dominated the match with his roughhouse tactics, beating down Jackson with fists and headbutts. Early in the match, Todd Sinclair was caught in a collision with Link and was laid out on the canvas for a prolonged period. Finally, JOE KOPASZ dashed to the scene and took over the officiating duties. Matt spent most of the match on the defensive, until action spilled outside the ring. Throwing caution to the wind, Matt vaulted himself onto Link with a devastating plancha, sending Link crashing to the arena floor. Link was stunned, and Matt immediately planted him with a moonsault and caught the pinfall! WINNER: 'MR. ACTION REPLAY' MATT JACKSON(Matt pinned Link with a Moonsault)MATT JACKSON CAPTURES THE ULTIMATE X CHAMPIONSHIPDaytondave: Wow! What a stunning outcome in our opening contest! This young upstart has shocked everyone here in Philadelphia and defeated the Missing Link! A new champion has been crowned! Add me to the list of those who thought it couldn't be done- but Mr. Action Replay has pulled the upset and is now your Ultimate X Champion! JR: No question, that was a most unexpected conclusion to that match, Daytondave. Now it's on to more action from Wednesday Night Warfare with the American Tag Team Championship on the line! WARFARE AMERICAN TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP THE HIGH ROLLERS (DIAMOND DALLAS PAGE & PLAYBOY BUDDY ROSE) (c) vs. THE NAPTOWN DRAGONS (DUSTIN LEE & SCOTTY VORTEKZ) (Referee: Joe Kopasz)A highly competitive bout betwwen the Rollers and the Dragons. The Rollers controlled the early action, isolating Scotty in the ring and keeping the pace slow as both Page and Rose worked him over. After enduring a sustained pounding, Scotty was finally able to tag in Dustin, who hit the ring a house afire! Dustin delievered a crushing double clothesline on both opponents, then unleashed a furious aerial assault on Rose and dropped him for the pinfall! WINNERS: THE NAPTOWN DRAGONS (Lee pinned Rose after a flying cross-body block)THE NAPTOWN DRAGONS CAPTURE THE WARFARE AMERICAN TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPDaytondave: Unbelievable! Two matches, two upsets, two title changes! Freedom Festival is rocking the city of Philadelphia, and the youth of the Heartland are showing their stuff! For a while, I thought Scotty Vortekz was gonna leave here in a body bag the way that the Rollers worked him over. But he finally tagged the fresh partner and Dustin got the job done! JR: An amazing turn of events indeed, Daytondave. Now, our next match will take a completely different tone. No "David vs. Goliath", no "youth versus experience", just two of the top competitors in wrestling history squaring off, mano-a-mano, for the United States Heavyweight Championship. UNITED STATES HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIPTHE DESTROYER (c) vs. GIANT BABA(Referee: Nick Patrick)The showdown between the legendary warriors did not disappoint! Baba and Destroyer engaged in a classic bout, exchanging holds and strikes. The momentum turned repeatedly through the match, but as the action progressed, it was Destroyer who was a step ahead of his foe. Destroyer alertly dodged a charging Baba at the turnbuckle, then caught him in the center of the ring with an Intelligent Sleeper Hold and the giant was unable to escape. WINNER: THE DESTROYER(Destroyer forced Baba to submit to the Sleeper Hold)THE DESTROYER RETAINS THE UNITED STATES HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIPJR: Now that is impressive! United States Champion Destroyer just submitted a huge opponent despite giving away nearly 70 pounds! There is no question that this is one intelligent athlete and one master of the game of human chess. I foresee a lengthy run at the top of the Old School for Destroyer! Daytondave: True dat, homey! Whatever... dude, loosen up! You don't have to talk like a librarian to enjoy the sport of pro wrestling. You gotta enjoy the ride! You can talk about human chess and all your scientifical nonsense, but give me a good old smashmouth throw-down any day! Give me the Road Warriors! UNITED STATES TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPBOB & BRAD ARMSTRONG (c) vs. THE ROAD WARRIORS(Referee: Charles Robinson)The Road Warriors brought their 'A' to this match, laying the heavy lumber on the champions and wowing the crowd with their hard-hitting manuvers. But Brad Armstrong wrestled the match of his life against the challengers! The Warriors beat the stuffing out of Bob Armstrong, slamming him to the canvas with a pair of Doomsday Devices. But Brad made the save for his father, and went to the air, executing suicide dives on both Roadies and sending them reeling! Armstrong took the measure of both men, but was unable to put either man down for the count. The Warriors survived the onslaught, and with the elder Armstrong incapacitated, finally took control of Brad and overpowered him to capture the victory. WINNERS: THE ROAD WARRIORS(Hawk pinned Brad after a Vertical Suplex)THE ROAD WARRIORS CAPTURE THE UNITED STATES TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPDaytondave: Now that's what I'm talkin' about! The Road Warriors laid the smack down on the Armstrongs and snatched away those titles! None of this business about 'human chess'- wrestling is a WAR, and the Road Warriors brought the bigger guns to the fight tonight. You wanna make a prediction about a long run with a championship? You're lookin' at two dudes that are gonna rule your Old School as long as they feel like. JR: That may well be true, Daytondave. But there is more to wrestling than big arms and bodyslams. Your guys from Warfare are about to demonstrate that in a confrontation that I have personally been looking forward to since the moment the contracts were signed. Let's head back to the ring for the American Heavyweight Championship! WARFARE AMERICAN HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP DAN 'THE BEAST' SEVERN (c) vs. DANNY HODGE(Referee: Joe Kopasz)In a classic display of power and precision, Severn dissected Hodge and tortured him with repeated application of punishing submission holds. Severn used the choke sleeper, the bow and arrow, and the Wakigatame to brutalize Hodge. To his credit, Danny refused to submit and continued to fight back, but the power of Severn was too much for him to overcome. Finally, Severn pitched Hodge out of the ring and delivered a huge powerbomb onto the arena floor. The fans gasped as Severn returned to the ring with a smirk, while Hodge was unable to respond to the ten-count and was counted out of the match. WINNER (via countout): DAN 'THE BEAST' SEVERNDAN SEVERN RETAINS THE AMERICAN HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIPJR: I think we both enjoyed that match, Daytondave. Severn brings a smashmouth attitude to the ring, and his knowledge of submission holds is second to none. That was a dominant performance indeed by a worthy champion. Daytondave: You said it, JR. And I know what's coming next. 'Dan Severn is all man and a yard wide', right? Well, in this cage, you ARE right, JR. Severn is the American Heavyweight Champion and a darn fine one. We're proud to have this man representing Wednesday Night Warfare as the standard bearer for our broadcast. JR: As well you should be, Daytondave. And now, we are down to the last two matches of this fine pay-per-view broadcast. The top titles in this federation remain to be decided. The Heartland Tag Team Championship match is up next, two out of three falls as the HEENAN FAMILY defends against TEAM CANADA! HEARTLAND CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP: BEST 2 OF 3 FALLS OX BAKER & LARRY ZBYSZKO (w/ BOBBY 'THE BRAIN' HEENAN) (c) vs. TEAM CANADA (ANGELO MOSCA & THE MOUNTIE)(Referee: Nick Patrick)First Fall: The contest was evenly matched and competitive, as expected. The animosity between Baker and the Mountie was clear, as the two engaged in several heated exchanges. Neither man took control, and the battle raged on. Mosca tagged in, and attempted a Heart Punch on Baker, who laughed off the blow and levelled Mosca with a powerful clothesline. Baker tagged out to Zbyszko, who took advantage of the situation and clamped Mosca into a painful Abdominal Stretch to gain the first fall by submission. After the fall, the Canadians responded with a flurry, claiming that Zbyszko had illegally gotten assistance from Bobby Heenan in executing the Abdominal Stretch. Mosca confronted Patrick, and a heated argument ensued. Not to be outdone, Heenan entered into the fracas, egging on Mosca and taunting both Canadians. Mosca lost his head and lunged after Heenan, but Patrick restrained him as Heenan fled the ring. In frustration, Mosca shoved Patrick, who tumbled through the ropes and crashed awkwardly to the arena floor. Patrick landed on his head and was out cold on the floor, leaving the fans gasping. CHARLES ROBINSON headed down to the ring and summoned the Heartland training staff, who helped Patrick away from the ring. Robinson ordered the match to be continued and the second fall began.Daytondave: That was a strong move by Zbyszko! His mat skills are second to none, and he made Mosca pay the price that time. I certainly didn't see any indication that Heenan was involved there. JR: That's what makes 'The Brain' so dangerous, ladies and gentlemen! He can influence the course of a match sheerly by his presence at ringside. Daytondave: Right you are, JR, and Nick Patrick certainly could have used an extra set of eyes in that situation. The referees are dropping like flies tonight! JR: Indeed. Let's get back to action! Second Fall: Zbyszko tried to take advantage of the chaos and managed to level Mosca with a spinning back kick! Mosca was staggered and unable to reach the corner to tag Mountie. Baker hit the ring and took over on Mosca, but a critical miscalculation proved costly. After whipping Mosca to the ropes, Baker lowered his head and Mosca quickly rolled him into a small package to capture a quick three-count! JR: A timely stroke of genius indeed by Angelo Mosca. This man is known more for his brawn than his brains, but he got one over on Ox Baker that time and the match is now even, one fall apiece. Daytondave: Gimme a break, JR. It's not like Baker is a Nobel Prize winner out there. JR: True, but they will give those Nobel prizes to any idiot with an agenda this day in age. Daytondave: Can't argue with that! But we didn't come here to talk politics- we came for action in the ring! Time for the third and deciding fall! Third Fall: The intensity level erupted in the third fall as the competitive juices overflowed and tempers flared. Baker and Mosca broke down into all-out fisticuffs, and this time it was Baker who shoved aside referee Charles Robinson to escalate the brawling. Robinson issued a stiff warning to Baker, but allowed the match to continue. The brawl spilled out to the arena floor, where Baker and Mosca wore each other out. Baker gained the advantage by slamming Mosca face-first into the steel ring steps. Baker shoved Mosca back into the ring and tagged to Zbyszko, but Mosca escaped and brought Mountie back into the match. Zbyszko nailed Mountie with another spinning back kick. Mountie was stunned, and Zbyszko took control, slamming him face-first into the turnbuckle. But Zbyszko tried to remove the top turnbuckle pad, giving Mountie an opening to retrieve his Shock Stick! Mountie delivered a powerful jolt to Zbyszko, dropping him to the canvas! Mountie went for the cover, but Bobby Heenan leaped to the ring apron and screamed at Charles Robinson! Robinson was unable to count the pin, and Zbyszko was able to recover enough to regain his senses and work his way back into the match. Larry brought Baker back into the match, and the big Ox immediately levelled Mountie with a clothesline. Baker was quick to follow up, blasting Mountie with the Heart Punch! Mosca came to the rescue, but Baker alertly pitched him to the floor. Mountie staggered to his feet, and Baker planted him with a neckbreaker and covered him for the pin! WINNERS: OX BAKER & LARRY ZBYSZKO(Baker pinned Mountie in the deciding fall with a Neckbreaker)OX BAKER & LARRY ZBYSZKO RETAIN THE HEARTLAND TAG TEAM TITLESDaytondave: Sensational! Both teams deserve a great round of applause for that bout- everyone involved left there hearts and their guts out there on the mat. JR: Indeed, Daytondave- both teams gave their all. They brawled, they took liberties with the rulebook, they both worked together well. But at the end of the day, alert moves by Ox Baker made the difference as he finally put his rival down in the decisive fall. Congratulations to Baker and Zbyszko for winning tonight and maintaining their grasp on the Tag Team Championship! Daytondave: JR, I am out of breath after the excitement of that match- and the best is yet to come! We still have the top prize in the Heartland at stake in our Main Event. RAY STEVENS and BRUISER BRODY are ready to tee it up- so let's get it started! MAIN EVENT: HEARTLAND HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP RAY 'THE CRIPPLER' STEVENS (w/ BOBBY 'THE BRAIN' HEENAN) (c) vs. BRUISER BRODY(Referee: Joe Kopasz)The intensity level remained at the top of the meter when Brody came for his belt. The massive Bruiser brought the fight right to Stevens, flinging him across the ring and planting him with a one hand body slam. Stevens fought back and did some damage, but Brody was unfazed and continued his assault. Heenan was beside himself at ringside, and when Brody nailed Stevens with a jumping knee smash, Heenan disrupted the count from Joe Kopasz and enabled the match to be continued. The interruption only prolonged the agony for Stevens, as Brody caught him with a massive boot to the face and put him down for the three-count! WINNER: BRUISER BRODY(Brody pinned Stevens after a boot to the face)BRUISER BRODY REGAINS THE HEARTLAND HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIPJR: Ladies and gentlemen, history has been made here in Philadelphia! Bruiser Brody has regained the Heartland Heavyweight Championship! Brody becomes the first man ever to be a three-time HCW champion! Brody has been the dominant force in the Heartland throughout his career, and tonight he adds another achievement to his legacy! Daytondave: Absolutely, JR. Brody has had a tremendous run of success here in the Heartland. What a great conclusion to a terrific night of action! JR: No question about that, Daytondave. I think we need to wrap things up here by honoring all the Heartland Champions. Gentlemen, please come on down to the ring! The music, 'Born to Run' plays again as the Heartland champions return to the ring.ROSTER OF CHAMPIONS WARFARE AMERICAN TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS: THE NAPTOWN DRAGONS WARFARE AMERICAN HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION: DAN 'THE BEAST' SEVERN UNITED STATES TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS: THE ROAD WARRIORS UNITED STATES HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION: THE DESTROYER ULTIMATE X CHAMPION: 'MR. ACTION REPLAY' MATT JACKSON HEARTLAND TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS: OX BAKER & LARRY ZBYSZKO HEARTLAND HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION: BRUISER BRODYJR: Gentlemen, thank you for joining me here. COMMISSIONER LUKE has asked you all to come to the ring for a special presentation to close the show. Luke returns to the ring, accompanied by MISS BERTHA. He shakes hands with each of the champions, and also with BOBBY HEENAN who accompanies his tag team. He reaches into his jacket pocket, then turns to Miss Bertha. He takes her by the hand and drops to one knee. His hands are shaking as he produces a diamond ring!Luke: Ummm... Miss Bertha... I ain't much with words... but babycakes, you done made me the happiest feller in the whole wide world. Miss Bertha, will you marry me? Miss Bertha registers a state of shock. Her mouth drops open as she looks at the diamond ring. She swoons for a moment, but JR James holds her upright. She smiles broadly, showing her tooth for all of Philadelphia to see. Bertha: Oh.... Luke.... YES! I WILL MARRY YA DARLIN! Bertha falls forward, landing in the arms of Cousin Luke and sending both of them sprawling on the canvas. Her generous hindquarters nearly fill the ring as she and Luke share a passionate kiss. After a moment, the happy couple comes to their senses and gets to their feet, smiling sheepishly.Luke: Jimmy, my man... Daytondave, ol' buddy... didn't I tell ya this was the most excitin' day of my life? JR: Indeed you did, sir. Congratulations to you both, and best wishes as you begin your new life together! Daytondave: So much for Independence Day... Luke, say goodbye to your independence forever! So, now that we have a new First Lady of HCW, what are the plans for the federation from here? Luke: Fellers, I done thought long and hard over this. I'm fixin' to git out of the rasslin' business. Daytondave: Out of the business? But Luke, you have built this federation from rags to riches! Luke: Exactly, Daytondave. You fellers are ready to run this show on yer own. JR: Well, Luke, this is a most unfortunate outcome from the wrestling standpoint. Your financial backing and your fan-centered promotional style will be most difficult to replicate. Luke: Now, now, Jimmy- we ain't gonna be replicatin' until the weddin' night. But when that day comes, Miss Bertha 'n me have a nice little shack down by the fishin' hole where we won't never be disturbed. We're out of the rasslin' business and that's that. Bobby Heenan: Oh... Mr. Luke, sir... congratulations on your *ahem* lovely bride... sir, what will happen to all these champions? You invested a fortune in gold belts alone! Luke: Now I ain't worried about that, Bobby. Why don't you just keep them belts fer yourself... Miss Bertha 'n me ain't a-gonna need 'em. Heenan grins broadly.Heenan: Thank you, sir! Your generosity is legendary! Guys, you heard the man. All HCW championship belts now belong to me! Everybody pass the belts here to Larry and Ox. Bewildered, THE NAPTOWN DRAGONS surrender their title belts. The ROAD WARRIORS scowl at Heenan.Animal: Heenan, you little weasel... you can have these belts when you pry them from our cold, dead hands! Ox Baker towers over MATT JACKSON. Jackson offers him the Ultimate X belt, but BRUISER BRODY launches a big boot which catches Baker on the side of the head! Larry Zbyszko shoves Brody, but DAN SEVERN grabs Zbyszko and nails him with a haymaker. In an instant, the entire entourage in the ring explodes into a wild fracas! Wrestlers pour in from the dressing room to join in the fray, including MISSING LINK, DELIRIOUS, BRENT ALBRIGHT, BG JAMES, and many others. Miss Bertha begins hurling wrestlers out of the ring left and right, while JR James is squashed beneath a falling NECRO BUTCHER. Daytondave scurries out of the ring, escaping the commotion as he runs to the nearest camera.Daytondave: Fans, this whole place has erupted into chaos! We're out of time here at Freedom Festival 2009! Thanks for joining us tonight- that's our show and- The camera goes black before Daytondave can complete his comments.

A camera shot appears at HCW Headquarters where DAYTONDAVE and JR JAMES are seated in the office.JR: This is indeed a conundrum, Daytondave. What are we going to do with HCW? BRUISER BRODY left with the title belt... THE ROAD WARRIORS beat the daylights out of everyone and disappeared with the US Tag Titles... and BOBBY 'THE BRAIN' HEENAN was given all the other belts! Daytondave: Shhh! Relax, JR. This will work itself out. Rob Bennett has hooked us up- we're going to become part of the Federation of Legendary Promoters! JR: Not Bennett again! Daytondave: Trust me, JR. This will bring HCW back to prominence. We can promote all over Ohio and Kentucky. You're a Kentucky boy- you can run the southern operation and I'll run Ohio. There's just one catch. JR: What's the catch? Daytondave: You must not utter the name of any non-HCW Superstar! Our first postings have already been censored by the FLW Powers That Be. JR: I can't invoke the name of Bruiser Brody? Daytondave: NO! JR: I can't mention THE ROAD WARRIORS? Daytondave: Shhh! Careful, JR! You're going to get us censored again! JR: Don't tell me... is MARC KANTER involved in this promotion? Daytondave: You guessed it. But let's look at the bright side. There's a lot of talent out there, and HCW is going to land on its feet. In fact, Bennett has already hooked us up with some administrative support! JR: Administrative support? Let me guess, you're going to bring in another floozy secretary with no skills. The office door opens, and VELVET SKY enters wearing a business suit. Her hair is up in a bun and she is carrying a briefcase and talking on a cell phone. JR rolls his eyes.Daytondave: JR, meet my new Executive Assistant. Velvet: We've met, Daytondave. Remember Valentine's Day? Daytondave: Of course! It took poor JR six weeks to get his blood pressure under control. Velvet, how's the recruiting coming along? Velvet: Awesome! I called the Montgomery County Modeling Agency- they're going to send some of their finest models to work with us! The door opens again, and a group of well-dressed gentlemen enters the office. The group includes CURT HENNIG, RICK MARTEL, MIKE AWESOME, TITO SANTANA, and ICEMAN PARSONS.Velvet: Oooo! Aren't these hunks to DIE for? JR: We'll just have to see what they can do in the ring. A commotion arises as the office door bursts open again. BOBBY HEENAN storms through the door with his crew, including OX BAKER, LARRY ZBYSZKO, RAY STEVENS, and RICK RUDE. The Heenan Family brushes past the models and circles around Daytondave.Daytondave: Bobby! What a pleasant surprise! Bobby: Bad news, Daytondave! The title belts- they're gone! The riot in Philadelphia after the show was a disaster! Those stinking fans took off with all my gold! Luckily, Larry and Ox were able to hold on to their Heartland Tag Team belts, but everything else disappeared. Daytondave: That is bad news. We'll have to start from scratch and find a new Heartland Heavyweight Champion. We'll get a tournament started soon. Bobby: But wait! Daytondave! Who's going to be in the tournament? Everybody left town! The door bursts open again and a choatic scene erupts as the members of LUNACY UNLIMITED stream into the scene. DELIRIOUS, MISSING LINK, NECRO BUTCHER, and ULTRAMANTIS BLACK run circles around the room. Necro and Link growl and scowl at the Heenan family as Bobby looks disgusted. Delirious sizes up the models and howls with delight at their pricey wardrobe.JR: Decorum, please! Can we have decorum? This place needs some decorum, no question! As JR struggles to get control of the office, loud music is heard in the parking lot. A convertible pulls up, and DAIZEE HAZE hops off the back seat. A group of men piles out of the car, led by EDDY GUERRERO. Eddy is accompanied by RVD, BALLZ MAHONEY, RICKY RICE, and JOHN PAUL DEMANS.Daytondave: That's what I'm talkin' about! Don't worry, JR- we'll have this fed rockin' again before you know it! In fact, we'll be back in action on Wednesday Night! The Warfare broadcast will be on as scheduled! Velvet, make sure we get a press release out for our Warfare broadcast. Velvet? Velvet Sky is seen in the background. She has let her hair down, and her briefcase is nowhere to be seen as she chats with RVD and Balls Mahoney. Eddy Guerrero moves in, taking Velvet in his arms and beginning a hip-rocking dance to the loud rock music still emanating from the convertible parked outside.JR: Daytondave... I'll make sure we have a press release out for Wednesday's show... SOMEBODY has to get some work done around here! JR shuffles out of the office as the chaotic scene continues behind him. Daizee Haze pulls Daytondave into a dance as the camera cuts out.

Heartland Championship Wrestling Wednesday Night Warfare July 15, 2009 (Card #228) St. John Arena, Steubenville, Ohio The show opens with DAYTONDAVE in the center of the ring holding a microphone. He wears a sleek European suit. He is accompanied by VELVET SKY in her business suit, wearing glasses and high heels and holding a clipboard.Daytondave: Hey, fans, Daytondave and the boys of Heartland Championship wrestling are comin' back at ya with another exciting edition of Wednesday Night Warfare! It's been nuts around here since the Freedom Festival, but with the help of my capable assistant Velvet, we're good to go tonight! First things first- the Heavyweight Title is officially vacant, after the departure of our former champion. Since I'm not allowed to name names, we'll just say that the wrestler "B. B.", who won the championship at Freedom Festival, has officially left the Heartland. Velvet: Barbara Bush was here? Daytondave: Ummm... okay, we'll go with that. Anyhow, we need a new champion- so JR JAMES and I got together and drew up a tournament. Twenty-four guys have signed up, and over the next three weeks we'll narrow that down to the final eight. From that group, a champion will be crowned at our August pay-per-view. Velvet- what's the title for next month's pay-per-view? Velvet: Ummm... gee... I'm not sure, Daytondave. Daytondave: She's not just beautiful fans, she's REALLY beautiful... we'll have an announcement about the pay-per-view in the next few days. Also on that broadcast, the Heartland Tag Team Championship will be defended. Fortunately, the reigning champions, OX BAKER & LARRY ZBYSZKO, have decided to stick around and defend those belts. We'll have an eight-team, double-elimination tournament to determine the number one contenders, and that tournament will also start right here tonight! Our opening singles match is ready to roll, fans, so relax, grab yourself a cold one, and enjoy the show! CHUCK TAYLOR vs. D'LO BROWNChaos ruled the day in the very first match in the new Heartland! Taylor and Brown threw down in a rugged brawl, which was interrupted when the referee was caught in a collision between the two men. D'Lo took control, and pummeled Taylor, flattening him with a Lo Down. With no referee available to count the pin, D'Lo flashed a hand signal back to the locker room. EDDIE KINGSTON emerged, and as D'Lo revived the referee, Kingston delivered a devastating Lariat to Taylor! Kingston slipped out of the ring, and with the referfee back in action, D'Lo delivered his own finisher and scored the pinfall. WINNER: D'LO BROWN(Brown pinned Taylor after a Lo Down)Daytondave: That didn't take long! One match, and already the battle lines are being drawn. D'Lo and Kingston clearly have some sort of agreement- and we'll keep a close eye on those two. It's a shame that all the experienced referees skipped town. Dude like Joe Kopasz never would have let something like that happen! Velvet: Hey! Daytondave? What's up with that bald dude? He looks familiar... he's kinda cute... but he's really acting goofy. What's up with that? Daytondave: Oh- yeah- you might recognize him. He used to be called KIP JAMES back in the day. But the poor guy lost his mind and got mixed up with JIMMY JACOBS. Jacobs made Kip shave his head and change his name to 'M'. Jimmy and 'M' are entered into the tag team tournament, and they're here for the next match. THE AWAKENING (JIMMY JACOBS & 'M') vs. PISTOL PEZ WHATLEY & THUNDERBOLT PATTERSONDespite the theatrics of The Awakening, the newly signed team of Whatley and Patterson were not intimidated! Pez and T-Bolt took the fight to both members of the Awakening. Whatley was especially impressive, putting together a dynamic flurry against 'M' and pinning him cleanly! WINNERS: WHATLEY & PATTERSON(Whatley pinned 'M' after a Flying Elbow Smash)After the match, Jacobs was livid. He called for the microphone and smashed it viciously into the stomach of 'M'. 'M' doubled over and Jacobs berated him.Jacobs: 'M'... you have failed The Awakening... The Counselor will not be pleased! Now get back to the locker room and wait for The Counselor to determine your fate! Daytondave: Whoa! The Counselor? This Awakening business gets more bizarre with each passing day. I don't know who this 'Counselor' is, but ol' Kip James is completely out of his mind. Can we just get back to wrestling? A lively dance tune fills the arena, and the flickering lights of a disco ball swirl through the crowd. DISCO INFERNO struts to the ring, boogie dancing his way down the aisle as the fans groan. As he grooves in the ring, he is joined by PAUL ORNDORFF, dressed in a business suit and looking stern. Orndorff removes his jacket and rolls up his leaves, preparing to pounce as Disco finishes his routine.PAUL ORNDORFF vs. DISCO INFERNOOrndorff was all business, in contrast to the antics of Disco. The Inferno put up a good fight, executing several reversals and stunning Orndoff with a Village People's Elbow. But the powerful Orndorff fought back, beating down Disco with chops and clotheslines and finishing him with a perfectly executed piledriver. WINNER: PAUL ORNDORFF(Orndorff pinned Disco with a Piledriver)Daytondave: An impressive win by Orndorff. Velvet: And a nice suit! LUNACY UNLIMITED (DELIRIOUS & NECRO BUTCHER) vs. THE DESTRUCTION CREW (WAYNE 'THE TRAIN' BLOOM & 'MEAN' MIKE ENOS)The debut of the Destruction Crew was impressive, as Enos and Bloom displayed power and teamwork in battling the unpredicatble Lunatics. But the Loons stayed one step ahead of the Crew, keeping them off-balance and perplexed. After Delirious ducked away from an attempted double-team, he trapped Bloom in the Cobra Stretch and forced him to tap out as Necro held off Enos. WINNERS: LUNACY UNLIMITED(Delirious forced Bloom to submit to the Cobra Stretch)Velvet: Those guys are weird! Daytondave: That may well be true, Velvet. But trust me, there is a method to their madness. The Destruction Crew learned that lesson tonight and the Loons brought home the victory. These guys are lovable, but the mood here is about to change. Two of the most intense men you will ever see are about to hit the ring! 'RAVISHING' RICK RUDE (w/ BOBBY 'THE BRAIN' HEENAN) vs. BRENT ALBRIGHTRude and Albright beat the stuffings out of each other, both inside the ring and out. After absorbing a great deal of punishment, Albright finally succumbed and Rude was able to put him away. WINNER: RICK RUDE(Rude pinned Albright after a suplex)Daytondave: Now that's what I'm talkin' about! Nothing like a good old, smash-mouth, mano-y-mano throwdown to get this place rockin'! Both these guys are going to light up the Heartland- tonight was just a taste of things to come. But fans, hold on to your hats- the main event is going to be even more exciting! The man who holds the Heartland record for most victories, even to this day, is back! That's right, fans, he's been a main event player in HCW since day one. He's a three-time former Midwest Champion! He is 'THE FALLEN ANGEL', CHRISTOPHER DANIELS! But Daniels has a stiff test ahead tonight- making his Heartland Championship Wrestling debut- LATINO HEAT, EDDIE GUERRERO!CHRISTOPHER DANIELS vs. EDDIE GUERREROThe main event lived up to the hype! Daniels put on an exhibition of hard-hitting moves, and Eddie fought back with his agility and his cunning. Daniels punished Guerrero, but Eddie survived the Last Rites and the Reverse STO and kept fighting. Eddie took control outside of the ring, smacking Daniels face-first onto the ring steps. Eddie nailed Daniels with the Frog Splash, but Daniels kicked out and the match continued. Daniels battled back, dropping Eddie with the Angel's Wings, then finishing off an impressive victory with the Best Moonsault Ever! WINNER: CHRISTOPHER DANIELS(Daniels pinned Guerrero after the Best Moonsault Ever)Daytondave: Christopher Daniels is back, baby, and tough as ever! The Heavyweight tournament is off to a great start, and there is more to come! Be sure to join us again on Saturday Night at 6:05 pm when JR JAMES will be back with the next episode of Old School. That's our show, and I AM OUTTA HERE!

Heartland Championship Wrestling Old School Saturday Night July 18, 2009 (Card #229) Fine Arts Center, Henderson, Kentucky The show opens with JR JAMES in the ring, accompanied by VELVET SKY. JR is dressed in a traditional grey business suit and wing tips. Velvet wears a white blouse with a red blazer and a red skirt slit high up the leg. JR holds a clipboard, and Velvet holds him by the arm and peers over his shoulder as he addresses the crowd. JR does his best to focus as he reads from the clipboard.JR: Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to Old School Saturday Night! The rebirth of Heartland Championship Wrestling continues to progress nicely. We are happy to report some new talent acquisitions, whose skills will be on display right here tonight! Velvet: Oh, I do love new talent! Of course, there is plenty to be said for a traditional man too. JR, those wing tips are hot! JR: Surely, miss, you have a job to do? Perhaps you would care to tell us about our first match? Velvet: CURT HENNIG is quite the eye candy, don't you think? It was nice of the Montgomery County Modeling Agency to send him over with his friends! JR: Indeed, there are those who consider Hennig to be a handsome gentleman. Who's he wrestling tonight? Velvet: Some ugly dude. JR: How enlightening. We saw BRENT ALBRIGHT just three nights ago in a very intense battle against RICK RUDE. Albright came out on the short end of the stick in that confrontation, so tonight, he will get another opportunity to prove himself against a capable foe. Let's head to the ring for tonight's opening contest! BRENT ALBRIGHT vs. CURT HENNIGAlbright dominated the match from the opening bell, overpowering Hennig and punishing him with high-impact suplexes and a sharpshooter. But Albright was unable to put Hennig away, and the wily veteran took the match outside the ring and managed to turn the momentum. After outslugging Albright on the arena floor, Hennig wore him out with the Axe and put him away with a sleeper hold! WINNER: CURT HENNIG(Hennig forced Albright to submit with a Sleeper Hold)JR: No question, that was a very hard-fought match by both competitors. Once again, unfortunately, Brent Albright comes up short, but this kid is very capable in the squared circle and he will win his share of matches when all is said and done. And how about this, fans- that victory for Hennig sets up a showdown in our Heartland Heavyweight Championship Tournament- it will be CURT HENNIG vs. RICK RUDE for a spot in the final eight! Now, ladies and gentlemen, let's look at a tag team rivalry featuring two very well-coordinated squads with very contrasting styles. Velvet: And big hair! THE TOP GUNS (RICKY RICE & JON PAUL w/ DAIZEE HAZE) vs. BADD COMPANY (PAT TANAKA & PAUL DIAMOND w/ TRINITY DENUCCI)The debut match for both tag teams was very evenly matched and competitive. Pat Tanaka found himself in trouble early on, thanks to some slick double-teaming by the Guns. Tanaka finally managed to tag in to Diamond, who overpowered both of the Guns and turned the tide of the match for Badd Company. Both ladies at ringside got involved, keeping the referee from controlling the match and resulting in missed pinning predicaments for both teams. After the Top Guns put Diamond down with a Dive Bomber, Trinity pulled Jon Paul out of the ring to prevent the pinfall. Paul foolishly took issue with Trinity and left the ring, only to be greeted by a savate kick from Tanaka! Paul was unable to beat the ten-count back to the ring and was counted out. WINNERS: BADD COMPANY(Jon Paul counted out)After the decision, Daizee was enraged! She went after Trinity at ringside, and soon the ladies were pushing and screaming! Ricky Rice and Paul Diamond tried to separate the fracas, until Diamond took a poke at Ricky and more shoving followed. Finally, referees and officials streamed in and the hysterics were brought under control.JR: How about that? There is clearly some history behind the scenes here- but I refuse to put up with that on Old School. We're going to put together a match, right here next week- to get this issue out in the open. One week from tonight on Old School, it will be the Guns and Daizee against Badd Company and Trinity! Now, can we please get back to wrestling? The camera shifts to the parking lot, where an old pick-up truck pulls in. Four men climb out dressed in blue jeans and work boots, and enter the arena.Velvet: JR- look! It's the Dixie Boys! JR: Indeed, Velvet! Ladies and gentlemen, say hello to BG JAMES, AUSTIN IDOL, EDDIE GILBERT, and TOMMY RICH! It's been said, "The South will rise again", and we're looking at four of the toughest southern born, southern bred race horses who are here to take on all comers! MIKE AWESOME vs. TOMMY RICHIn a gritty and plodding match, Awesome and Rich locked up with neither man gaining a decisive advantage for long periods. As the match wore on, the size and power advantage of Awesome allowed him to gain control. Rich tried to counter by initiating a brawl on the arena floor, but Awesome went toe-to-toe with him and finally decked him with an overhand right. Rich was groggy, and returned to the ring to meet the Awesome Bomb which spelled the finish. WINNER: MIKE AWESOME(Awesome pinned Rich with an Awesome Bomb)JR: Mike Awesome brings a lot to the table- power, toughness, and athleticism. It's going to take a superior effort from a superior wrestler to overtake Awesome's bid for the gold. A rough return to HCW for Tommy Rich- despite the fact he is a former Heartland Tag Team champion, and a former NWA World Tag Champ as well. Let's see if his fellow Dixie Boy EDDIE GILBERT can fare any better as we return to the ring for our next match. BRADSHAW vs. EDDIE GILBERTJBL came to the ring in an immaculate business suit and his trademark cowboy hat. He barely wasted a moment, leveling Gilbert with a big boot and planting him with the Clothesline from Hell for a quick victory! WINNER: BRADSHAW(Bradshaw pinned Gilbert after a Clothesline from Hell)After the decision, Bradshaw glared down at the fallen Gilbert and scowled. Gilbert staggered to his feet and shoved Bradshaw away, but JBL loaded up another clothesline and pounded Eddie back to the mat! The remaining Dixie Boys quickly hit the ring to defend Gilbert. Just as quickly, CHRIS ADAMS and PAUL ORNDORFF hit the ring with JBL. Adams and Orndorff were both dressed in business suits, but their fists were clenched and they were ready for action. Cooler heads prevailed, and JBL and his men returned to the locker room without any further incident.Velvet: What's with the monkey suits? JR: I don't know, Velvet, but it is a stark contrast indeed from the down-home country feel of the Dixie Boys. Trouble is, the Dixie Boys are 0-for-2 here tonight. Let's see if AUSTIN IDOL can do better. As Idol hits the ring to prepare for his match, the tune "I'm The Man" by J. Melz fills the arena. EDDIE KINGSTON and D'LO BROWN stride to the ring defiantly, scoffing at the fans and flashing hand signals. Eddie wears a black leather jacket with the logo, 'Ghetto Souljaz' emblazened on the back. The Souljaz hit the ring, and D'Lo pulls back a threatening fist, sending Idol quickly out of the ring as Kingston takes the mike.Kingston: What up, biotches? Da Ghetto Souljaz in da house! Me and my homey D'Lo gonna tear dis house apart! Yo yo yo, we ain't finished yet! We got our Souljah queen in da house! The music blares as SARA DEL REY enters through the curtain. Sara is dressed in tight black leather slacks and a jacket, with chains hanging from her neck as she makes her way to the ring and stands with her Souljaz. D'Lo: It must be jam, 'cuz jelly don't shake like dat! Da Souljaz got da booty dat everybody desire. Eat your heart out, posers! D'Lo and Sara leave the ring as Eddie preps himself for the coming bout.AUSTIN IDOL vs. EDDIE KINGSTON (w/ SARA DEL REY)Idol was not intimidated by the antics of the Souljaz. He took the fight right to Kingston, crashing hard into the gangsta with a running elbow. Kingston tumbled out to the arena floor, where Idol picked him up and slammed him hard onto the concrete! Kingston struggled to his feet but failed to make it to the ring before the ten count. WINNER: (via countout): AUSTIN IDOLJR: Who's the poser now? No question, Austin Idol takes a step back from no man. Velvet: That's a pretty hot leather outfit Sara has on, but the girl has an ass like an ampitheater! JR: Better watch yourself, Velvet. I don't think that young lady tolerates a lot of criticism. Velvet: What - ever ! The loud rap music plays again as Sara remains in the ring. The curtain bursts open, and THE ELIMINATORS emerge. Saturn and Kronus are also dressed in leather, bearing the Ghetto Souljaz logo. The Eliminators flash the gang signals to Kingston and D'Lo as they hit the ring. Without warning, their music is interrupted by the playing of 'Born in the USA' by Bruce Springsteen. BARRY WINDHAM and MIKE ROTUNDA storm through the curtains and hit the ring at full speed and the fisticuffs fly!BARRY WINDHAM & MIKE ROTUNDA vs. THE ELIMINATORS (PERRY SATURN & JOHN KRONUS w/ SARA DEL REY)The high-impact style of the Eliminators ruled this match! Both Saturn and Kronus strutted their stuff and performed impeccably. Rotunda was the victim of a vicious double-team beatdown by the Eliminators, who finished him off for a dominant win. WINNERS: THE ELIMINATORS(Saturn pinned Rotunda after a Double Thrust Kick)JR: Now that was impressive! The Eliminators function seamlessly as a unit, and they now have some very dangerous allies as part of the Ghetto Souljaz. They just put down a very formidable team in Windham and Rotunda. No question, this group will be a force to be reckoned with in the Heartland. Ladies and gentlemen, the action in the Heartland keeps on coming, and we'll be back on Wednesday night with another episode of Warfare. It will be a most compelling night as our main event will feature RICK RUDE facing off against CURT HENNIG for a spot in the final eight of the Heavyweight Championship Tournament! Until then, fans, so long from the Bluegrass State!

Heartland Championship Wrestling Wednesday Night Warfare July 22, 2009 (Card #230) Pride Valley Pavilion, Malvern, Ohio The show opens with General Manager DAYTONDAVE in the ring, accompanied by the lovely assistant, VELVET SKY. Daytondave: Hey, fans, welcome to Wednesday Night Warfare! Heartland Championship Wrestling rolls on tonight as our Heavyweight Championship Tournament continues. The contenders are streaming in from all over the world, all shapes and sizes, putting it all on the line for a shot at Heartland glory! The main event should be sensational as CURT HENNIG battles RICK RUDE for a berth in the Elite Eight. But that ain't all, fans! One of our newest superstars is leading off the card tonight- so relax, grab yourself a cold one, and enjoy the show! The crowd fell silent as ONE MAN GANG strode to the ring, being led by JIMMY JACOBS. Gang was shaven bald, with a skull and crossbones painted onto the back of his skull. His eyes appeared hollow and his face expressionless as he moved into the ring to prepare for battle.CHUCK TAYLOR vs. ONE MAN GANGThe Gang went around with Taylor for several minutes before finally catching him and squashing him like a bug. WINNER: ONE MAN GANG(Gang pinned Taylor after a 747 Splash)Daytondave: That was just... bizarre. When One Man Gang signed on, I was looking forward to seeing the big fella in the ring. But it looks like Jacobs has already gotten to Gang and screwed with his head. Poor schmuck, next thing you know he'll be dancing around like some kind of an African tribesman in the ring. Velvet: Don't be crazy, Daytondave. That would never happen. Daytondave: You're probably right, Velvet. But the Gang has clearly fallen under the spell of Jimmy Jacobs, and I don't think anything good will come out of this. Let's get back to the ring. THE DESTRUCTION CREW (WAYNE 'THE TRAIN' BLOOM & 'MEAN MIKE ENOS) vs. THE TOP GUNS (RICKY RICE & JON PAUL)Once again, the Guns found themselves on the receiving end of a beating from a rough opponent. Jon Paul took the brunt of the abuse, suffering a bone-jarring powerbomb on the arena floor. Paul never recovered and the Guns were counted out for the second straight match. WINNERS: THE DESTRUCTION CREW(Jon Paul counted out)Daytondave: What a joke! These Top Guns look like a couple of glass-jawed jabronies to me. Two matches, two countouts, too bad. It'll be a while before we see them back in the ring- this tag team tournament is double elimination and it's over and out for the Guns. Velvet: Great hair, don't you think? Daytondave: Four of the worst mullets in the history of mullets, if you ask me. JR JAMES would have had a stroke watching that match. As Daytondave continues, MISSING LINK sprints to the ring, his matted mop of hair flying behind him. DAIZEE HAZE follows, skipping and blowing kisses to the crowd.Daytondave: What the heck is going on here? Velvet, even YOU can't be attracted to THAT head of hair. Velvet: Not on your life! That dude is GROSS! Ooooh- look who's coming now! PAUL ORNDORFF strides down the aisle, dressed in an immaculate business suit. He stops at ringside and peels off his jacket, rolls up his sleeves, and hits the ring with a scowl.Daytondave: That is a nice suit. Very professional. Talk about a contrast in styles. Now matter how well dressed, Orndorff is a tough dude. Let's see how he fares against the Missing Link! PAUL ORNDORFF vs. THE MISSING LINK (w/ DAIZEE HAZE)Orndorff was very business-like in putting aside Link. After the two tough guys exchanged some heavy haymakers, Orndorff got the best of Link and planted him with a piledriver. WINNER: PAUL ORNDORFF(Orndorff pinned Link after a Piledriver)Daytondave: Very efficient performance by Orndorff. Pretty darned good for a dude who looks like an accountant in the ring. Now, fans, we go back to the tag team tournament and another losers' bracket contest. BARRY WINDHAM & MIKE ROTUNDO vs. THE AWAKENING (JIMMY JACOBS & 'M')The struggles continued for 'M' in this match, through no fault of his own. 'M' locked up with Rotundo to start the match, and the action was evenly contested between the two fine athletes. As the momentum shifted back and forth, ONE MAN GANG made his way to ringside and attempted to interfere on behalf of The Awakening. But the referee quickly put a stop to the interference, and sent Gang back to the locker room. Rotunda took advantage of the distraction, wrapping 'M' into a painful abdominal stretch, with a hand from Windham on the ring apron. 'M' struggled to fight his way free, and finally reached the ropes, but the damage had been done. 'M' was spent and was easy pickings for Windham as Rotunda held off Jacobs at the finish. WINNERS: BARRY WINDHAM & MIKE ROTUNDO(WINDHAM pinned 'M' after a Bulldog)
After the match, and enraged Jacobs pulled 'M' into the corner of the ring and slapped him!Jacobs: 'M'... you are helpless and weak... and you have failed me for the final time! You are not fit for the Awakening... the time for your destruction has come! ONE MAN GANG entered the ring and joined Jacobs, kicking and stomping at 'M' who lay helpless in the corner. 'M' barely attempted to defend himself, but BG JAMES dashed into the ring and came to his defense! BG dropkicked Gang, sending him tumbling through the ropes and out of the ring. BG grabbed Jacobs by the hair, pulling him off of 'M' and drawing back a fist to slug Jacobs. Seemingly from nowhere, KEVIN SULLIVAN appeared in the ring and jumped BG from behind! Sullivan threw BG to the mat, but BG jumped up and the fists flew! BG and Sullivan pounded away at each other as officials streamed in from the locker room to attempt to pull them apart. Finally, the fracas was separated and BG was ushered back to the locker room. Sullivan glared at BG as he departed, then called for the microphone. Jacobs and Gang quickly scrambled to Sullivan and sat at his feet as he spoke.Sullivan: Jimmy, my son, you must learn patience! Your journey with 'M' has just begun. You must not lose hope so quickly! Wins and losses matter not in the grand scheme of the universe. Only the commitment of the spirit is essential. You must continue to instruct 'M' in the ways of destiny, and you must defend 'M' against the forces of distraction and disillusionment. Jacobs: Yes, my Counselor. Sullivan: Very good, my son. I am the Counselor. I carry the wisdom of the ages. I have descended to the depths of the Dungeon of Despair and I have risen to commune with the Scholars of the Universe. Follow me, my son, and become wise. Look at my own pupil, One Man Gang. He is the most dangerous fighting machine on the planet and he obeys his master without question or hesitation. His allegiance was not purchased with the price of a few meaningless victories in the wrestling ring. His loyalty was crafted over many years of instruction. You must lean, Jimmy Jacobs, to lead your sheep with wisdom and patience. You must protect your flock from those who would divert them. Jacobs: What shall I do, my Counselor? Sullivan: You must become one with your adversary, my son. You must come face to face with the enemy and you must crush him. You must meet BG JAMES in a Dog Collar Match. Neither man will escape until the foe is vanquished! Jacobs: Yes, my Counselor. Daytondave: Now, I am officially freaked out, fans. First Jimmy Jacobs, and now Kevin Sullivan are part of this Awakening movement. And with a dangerous enforcer like One Man Gang, this can't be good for the men in the Heartland locker room. Velvet: Believe me, Daytondave, it's no party for the women either! Daytondave: I don't doubt that, Velvet. Let's see how Sullivan looks in the ring. CHRISTOPHER DANIELS vs. KEVIN SULLIVANSullivan came into the ring on fire, pounding away at Daniels. Seemingly impervious to Daniels' attempts to retaliate, Sullivan pressed the attack, tying up Daniels into the Tree of Woe and delivering two vicious running knee smashes. The referee finally freed Daniels from the illegal predicament, and Daniels capitalized. Daniels dropped Sullivan onto the top rope, surprising him with a stun gun. That proved to be the only opening Daniels would need to deliver the Best Moonsault Ever and capture the pinfall! WINNER: CHRISTOPHER DANIELS(Daniels pinned Sullivan after the Best Moonsault Ever)Daytondave: With all the attention focused on Sullivan, Daniels just comes out here, picks his spot, and beats him clean in the center of the ring! Congratulations to Daniels- he has just become the first wrestler in Heartland history to reach 40 victories in singles competition! Quite a run of consistency! Not that it matters to Kevin Sullivan. Dude hardly seems to care about wins and losses, it's all about the mind games. So, chalk one up for Christopher Daniels and put him on the list of the top contenders for the vacant Heartland Heavyweight Championship! Without warning, the camera shifts backstage, where a massive brawl has broken out! RICK RUDE and CURT HENNIG are battling it out! BOBBY HEENAN is shouting for assistance, and in an instant, Rude is joined by RAY STEVENS, OX BAKER & LARRY ZBYSZKO. It looks like big trouble for Hennig, until MIKE AWESOME, ICEMAN PARSONS, and RICK MARTEL come to his aid!Velvet: Ohmigawd! Ohmigawd! They're gonna kill each other! Mike Awesome manages to pull Rude away from Hennig, but the brawling continues. RAY STEVENS grabs a barbell and wades into the fray, taking a mighty swing and blasting Rick Martel on the back of the knee! Martel went down like a shot! Iceman Parsons picked up the barbell and began swinging wildly, sending Heenan and his men scrambling for safety. But the damage had been done, as Martel lay screaming on the concrete floor. Awesome tended to the fallen Martel as Parsons chased after the Heenan Family. Hennig stormed out to the ring for his match, while trainers came to the aid of Martel.CURT HENNIG vs. RICK RUDE (w/ BOBBY HEENAN)The fireworks from the locker room spilled into the ring as these former friends attempted to tear each other apart! Hennig was enraged, and immediately took control of the match with his superior athletic ability. Rude was backpedalling, and his situation only got worse when TITO SANTANA showed up at ringside! Santana was furious about the injury to his tag team partner Martel, and came after Rude aggressively, but the Ravishing One eluded Santana and slipped back into the ring. This manuver did nothing to improve his situation, as Hennig immediately chopped Rude down with The Axe and finished him off for a pinfall victory! WINNER: CURT HENNIG(Hennig pinned Rude with the Hennig Plex)Daytondave: What a night! The backstage brawl was intense, and it looks like Rick Martel is out of commission for a while. But at the end of the night, Curt Hennig pulls out the victory and moves ahead to the Elite Eight of the Heartland Championship Tournament! Congratulations to Hennig on a big win! Hennig will be joined in the Elite Eight by PAUL ORNDORFF and by CHRISTOPHER DANIELS as a result of tonight's matches. But there are still five slots remaining to be filled, and HCW will be back in action this weekend as the tournament continues! Be sure to check out Old School Saturday Night at 6:05 pm as JR JAMES will bring you another exciting show. In addition to the tournament matches, we'll check out a Main Event Grudge Match as the team of THE TOP GUNS & DAIZEE HAZE goes to battle against BADD COMPANY & TRINITY DENUCCI! Until then, fans, that's our show, and I AM OUTTA HERE!
