Spent some time with the iPad and COTGOnline tonight to get the definitive report. Here's the score....
- What you can do on the iPhone/iPad with COTGOnline -
Promoter- You can view all the Promoter Materials. You can view PDF files associated with the promoter.
Stat Tracker- You can change Working Dates, Feds, see other Datasets and your Account info. You can view all the PDF info in your downloads section. You can browse the galleries of the sets you have. You can create characters, belts, and manage rosters. You can view your fed's history, title histories, win/loss, etc You can view your Cards. You can view your fed's home. You can run your rankings. You can run the Battle Royal sim. You can run the Battle for Centra Simulator. You can view the Basic and Advanced rules. You can create a card. You can get into the Card editor. You can select cards in the card editor. You can sim matches from the card editor. You can enter results, title changes and delete matches in the Card Editor page You can edit Cards & Matches from the Edit Cards & Matches menu. You can manage Feds. You can access the Help files.
UPDATE - 04/11 Was poking around again tonight and found out the PlayByPlay sim now works on the iPad/iPhone although it's a little wonky. You select your first wrestler and nothing happens. Select your second and the photo of that wrestler appears where it should. Then when you go back to try and reselect the first wrestler, it finally loads the first one as you browse the roster. You can then run the sim.
- What you can't do on the iPhone/iPad with COTGOnline - You can't use the Game Table at all as the iPad won't run flash.
You cannot create matches in the Card Editor as you cannot drag names over to the participants section.
---
So, it is limited. I'd say the MAIN limitation for me is not being able to add a match to your cards. I think if the 'old/classic' way to add matches was still in the system you'd be able to add matches, but as of now there's now way. (You can add your matches on a regular computer then take the iPad to the gaming table with you to enter in results, but if you want to add a spur of the moment match to your card, you can't.
I don't know how high developing COTGOnline is for the iPad/iPhone so I don't know the demand. I'd L O V E to see it worked on as I'm a big Apple guy, but I know I'm in the minority. I will say an iPhone/iPad app that accessed all your info would be another great way (like color cards) to get people interested in the game.
---
squire/Osk I don't know if this is important enough info to be added to the Bug or Feature request sections, but I will if you'd like.

well, I dont use the game table for my main fed, I just use it for fun, so not a huge thing. But the sim is a major thing if I can't use it.

It should work, but apparently apple is going the route of microsoft with their mobile devices. PBPSim is javascript and Ajax. Both Modern technologies. The game table, well, Steve Jobs is an idiot for not including Flash on the iPhone or iPad.

The game table, well, Steve Jobs is an idiot for not including Flash on the iPhone or iPad. Well, whatever the limitations, I will say that an iPad is a AWESOME Champions/LOW companion. I can update my rankings, win/losses etc on my fed spreadsheet and there's even Gamemaster/DM and tournament apps that I've found help with the game. I'd love to be able to do these things with COTGonline, but the 'Add Match' limitation keeps me from using it completely. Trust me, I know I'm in the minority.

After poking around on the iPad again online, using the latest iOS software, I've updated what does and doesn't work on the iPhone/iPad. Main finding... Select your second and the photo of that wrestler appears where it should. Then when you go back to try and reselect the first wrestler, it finally loads the first one as you browse the roster. I did a little research tonight as I am working on something else Osk asked me about and there is work being done with the javascript library we use to support "touch". While there are some other libraries that were pointed at, in order for me to not have to do special coding, the main library will need to be updated. So hope is not lost and when it is made available, there should be an easy transition. There will still be some bugs (apparantly sometimes the entire page drags vs the item you want to drag) but it's moving forward at least.
