Legends of Wrestling
Monday July 26th 2010
Bradley Center, Milwaukee Wisconsin
There is a buzz of excitement in the air as the fans settle into their seats for what is certain to be an historic first show of the Legends Wrestling Federation. Some of the greatest talent in the history of the sport has been gathered here tonight and the promoter has promised to reveal information concerning the crowning of the LWF World Champions and the LWF Tag Team Champions. A ring announcer Gary Michael Capetta heads to the ring, the crowd cheers as the first match of the evening takes place.
The Fabulous Kangaroos defeat Paul London and Brian Kendrick
Summary: Though London and Kendrick were the smaller team they proved to be well matched against Costello and Heffernan despite "Wild" Red Berry's claims of easy victory for his team. Indeed the two Americans were able to give their Australian opponents quite a run for their money and while they couldn't match Al Costelle and Roy Heffernan at brawling Londrick were easily able to make up the difference with speed and agility, nearly defeating the Australians after they'd been casually tossed into the ropes or the turnbuckle. Some belive that if the match had continued without any interference London and Kendrick might've pulled out the victory but of course, there was interference as "Wild" Red Berry managed to get the upper hand by smashing his sawed off cane into the knee of Paul London. Even then Kendrick nearly managed to pin Costello with the Sliced Bread #2 but Heffernan broke up the pin and during the brawl that ensued as a result the 'Roos managed to hit the Boomerang on London. Londrick would continue to fight it out from there but despite their tenacity they were able to do little more then force the 'Roos to hit the Boomerang twice more on Paul London to get the victory.
After the match Berry predictably declared his team to be the future world tag team champions but the crowd wasn't really paying attention at this point as none other then Bill Apter came to the ring in order to give a fan appreciation award to Milwaukee's Favourite Son, Da Crusher! Having taken part in numerous charity events around Milwaukee, the fans purchased a trophy to show their appreciation for his efforts and as the Beer Barrel Polka played they were all on their feet applauding their hero as he made his way to the ring. Waving cheerfully to the fans Da Crusher quaffed the beer he'd been holding and climbed into the ring and danced a little polka, even managing to talk Apter to join in much to the crowd's amusement. Sadly just as Crusher picked up the mike and was about to thank the people of Milwaukee for their appreciation the Necro Butcher attacked!
Grabbing Crusher's trophy as Jimmy Jacobs and Tyler Black chased off Bill Apter and dealt with ringside security, Necro Butcher smashed the award over Crusher's head before he even realised what was going on. With Crusher bloodied, Necro proceeded to Necro Bomb Crusher on top of the wreckage of the trophy as Jimmy Jacobs grabbed the microphone.
"This man does not deserve a reward," Jacobs said, only barely heard despite the microphone due to the howls of the irate fans. "This man isn't a hero, he's nothing more then an alcoholic! That somebody like this is taking up space on the roster when a legitimately talented wrestler could be employed sickens me."
Pausing a moment to spit upon Crusher's fallen body, Jacobs grinned wickedly as he pulled out his railroad spike much to the horror of the assembled fans.
"But if the Age of the Fall has anything to say about it, he won't be taking up space for very long. Society will never improve untill those that hold it down are eliminated!"
Fortunately Jacobs didn't get much further as Hillbilly Jim and Cousin Luke charged to the ring and started brawling with Black and Jacobs, distracting the Age of the Fall long enough for medical personel to remove Crusher from the ring. As that happened a referee rushed to the ring and the match was on.
The Age of the Fall defeated The Hillbillys.
Summary: Despite Jim and Luke's eagerness to avenge the heinous assault on Da Crusher it soon became clear that the Hillbilly's superior strength and their prowess at scufflin' was woefully unable to counteract Jacob and Black's superior skill and speed. Though Jim and Luke did well at first, Jacobs and Black were able to were able to wether their assault and then proceeded to take the hillbillies apart with some impressive technical wrestling, a little high flying and some good old fashioned visciousness. In fact it was the visciousness that actually got the job done as Jacob's railroad spike came into play once again. Though Jim was taking quite a beating up untill that point he clearly wasn't finished, despite having fallen victim to Tyler Black's Phoenix Splash already. Any hope the Hillbillys might have had of turning the tide were quashed as Jacobs jabbed the spike into Jim's forehead, causing blood to spurt wildly. As Jim howled in pain, Jacobs slapped on the End Time for the victory.
This time security stormed the ring immediatly, causing Age of the Fall to flee into the crowd as Cousin Luke and a horde of EMTs rushed Hillbilly Jim to the back. As that happened referee Bill Alfonso stepped into the ring to start the next match.
Magnum TA defeats Nigel McGuinness
Summary: Though fans seemed to have an issue with the refereeing of Bill Alphonso, who did seem to be counting slightly faster when McGuinness was making a pinfall then when Magnum was, it didn't do much to mar the impressive performance the two wrestlers put on. Most of the match was the two men reversing each other's holds over and over, amazing the fans as the two managed to find more and more ways to counter each other's holds. When he wasn't countering Magnum's offence Nigel was battering his American foe around the ring with his favourite maneuver, the lariat. Despite taking several lariats over the course of the match, including the dreaded Jawbreaker Lariat, Magnum was able to recover and was eventually able to hit his Belly to Belly Suplex for the victory. Though he did grab the mike after the match and promise that results would be different the next time they faced, Nigel did prove gentlemanly enough to shake Magnum's hand.
At that point it was announced that there would be a title tournament to decide who would be the LWF World Champion, to be held at LWF's first Supercard entitled Wrestlefest. It would be a single elimination tournament with sixteen brackets, meaning there would be 32 men in the tournament altogether. There was no word on how these men would be chosen though it was strongly hinted that wrestlers who performed strongly over the next couple of weeks would recieve greater consideration then somebody who'd performed poorly. On top of that it was stated that the LWF Women's Champion would be crowned at the Wrestlefest show as well and that it would be a two night event.
The Road Warriors versus The Miracle Violence Connection was declared a no contest.
Summary: Gary Michael Capetta didn't even get to finish his announcement of the participants as Gordy and Williams attacked Hawk and Animal in the aisle and soon both teams were brawling wildly about ringside and not particularly caring to to obey the referee's instructions to get back into the ring. While the fans loved it as the four wrestlers brawled around ringside, especially as said brawl started to involve steel chairs, the ringside steps, the ringbell and even the unfortunate timekeeper (whom Hawk threw at Terry Gordy), the referee was not the least bit amused by all these shenanigans and after several minutes of being ignored by the wrestlers he declared the match a no contest.
Andre the Giant defeats Rikidozan by disqualification.
Summary: Though you wouldn't neccesarily call the pace of the match lightning fast, Andre and the Father of Puroresu were having an impressive match before the disqualification happened. Indeed despite being half the size of Andre, Rikidozan still managed to slam the Frenchman to the match and even managed to knock Andre off his feet on a few occassions with his brutal chops and a few fans even thought the Japanese wrestler had the match won when he slapped on his Hiplock. Even when Andre inevitably regained control of the match Rikidozan was still impressive, taking several of Andre's sitdown splashes and even managing to kick out of the big splash at one point. Naturally that was only an inconvenience to Andre at this point he proceeded to hit the big splash again, and that's when things got crazy.
As the referee was about to make the three count, Ox Baker and One Man Gang stormed the ring and brutally attacked Andre with One Man Gang's chain and a chair Ox had picked up from ringside. Naturally the referee called for the disqualification immediatly but any idea that Rikidozan might be allied with Baker and Gang were promptly dispelled when Rikidozan immediatly came to Andre's rescue driving the villain's back with his thunderous chops. Before Gang and Baker could start doubleteaming the Japanese legend, Andre recovered and together he and Rikidozan drove them off. Despite that Baker and Gang seemed pleased with their work, only laughing with a livid Rikidozan challenged them to fight.
"Do not interfere in my affairs again," the Father of Puroresu roared. "For if you do you will recieve a beating far worse then what I gave you today!"
Before Rikidozan could go on however, he was interrupted by a voice speaking over the house speakers. The owner of the voice quickly revealed himself as the sinister Ultramantis Black appeared on the Jumbotron.
"Silly little man spouting ineffectually against evil," the masked man sneered. "So unaware of the grand scheme of things. Such a deluded little creature, thinking that he has the ability to stop what's approaching."
Chuckling darkly, the man known only as Dr. Cube joined Ultramantis Black onscreen as the crowd voiced their displeasure while Rikidozan himself glared daggers at the Jumbotron. Andre scowled as well, though the two villains didn't seem phased at all.
"The Problem Solvers are the least of your concerns," Cube sneered. "Now that Dr. Cube and Ultramantis Black have joined forces there is nothing that can stand in our way. Nothing that can prevent us from achieving what we desire."
As Cube speaks the background becomes more and more lit revealing rank upon rank of Dr. Cube's minions. As they are revealed they speak one word over and over and over.
"TOTAL DOMINATION."
As Rikidozan and Andre look on, commentator Ed Whalen asks the question that everybody is thinking:
"Did Cube and Ultramantis Black hire the Problem Solvers to eliminate Andre?"
Sherri Martel defeats Daizee Haze
Summary: A complete squash as Martel simply womanhandled Haze in the ring, despite Delirious at ringside cheering his girlfriend on. It would do Daizee little good however as Sherri would go so far as to piledrive Haze right in front of the masked man. After that she would casually toss Haze back into the ring so she could finish her off with a top rope splash.
The Armstrong Family and "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan defeat The Midnight Express by disqualification.
Summary: An excellent main event as Stan Lane, Bobby Eaton and Dennis Condry face off against Brad Armstrong, Bob Armstrong and "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan. The faces started off strong as they pinballed Lane between them, actually managing to cut off the ring to prevent the Midnights from engaging in their trademark doubleteaming. Despite Cornette's best efforts they even managed to get several near falls on Stan Lane despite Lane's attempts to tag out. As effective as thier isolation was however eventually a mistake was made as Bob Armstrong went for a backdrop too early, resulting in him being visciously piledriven by Lane. With the advantage gained Lane, Eaton and Condrey began triple teaming Armstrong with Brad and Hacksaw only barely able to keep Bob from being pinned after taking the Rocket Launcher at least twice, as well as the Veg-O-Matic, Condrey's Front Face Slam and Lane's Superkick.
Eventually Jim and Brad's efforts to keep Bob from being pinned sparked a brawl between both teams which naturally favoured Duggan and the Armstrongs, in the confusion Duggan was able to hit the Flying Spear on Stan Lane and would've got the pinfall were it not for the interference of the Original Sheik and his newest associate "The Terrible Turk" Youssuf Ishmaelo. The two of them immediatly went to work on Duggan with Shiek stabbing him with a pencil while Youssuf swung his heavy leather belt at anybody who got close to him, managing to knock down the Armstrongs in the process. Before they could do too much damage however they were blindsided by the Midnights who were rather irate about the interference in their match. Within moments Sabu and Rob van Dam ran to the ring to assist Youssuf and Sheik, Dr. Tom Prichard ran in to assist the Midnights and Bob Roop and Magnum TA ran in to assist Duggan and the Armstrongs. By the time security rushed to the ring to try to get things under control a pier six brawl was under way and the show ended with everybody fighting.
