The Summer Fire Festival: 7/31/2010

Order of the Neo Solar Temple d. Naptown Dragons by DQ
The Dragons hit the Double Dragon on Ultramantis Black and Black bailed to the outside. Lee grabbed a chair and smashed Black in the face with it. The referee called for the DQ.

Jigsaw pins Savage-T w/ KJ Hill with a brainbuster
Jigsaw is making his UCW debut in this match. This was a back and forth match that saw Savage-T actually control a lot of the action. Jigsaw hit a missile dropkick and then used a brainbuster to pick up a victory in his debut match.

The Colony d. Adam Pearce and the Heartbreak Express w/ Larry Sweeney when Soldier Ant pins Pearce w/ the TKO
The Colony picks up quite the upset here. Solider Ant dropped Pearce with the TKO and scored the pinfall.

Young Bucks d. Northstar Express by count out
Corbin and Cruz missed some big chances to put away the Bucks in this match. Matt and Nick hit planchas onto the floor and Cruz was unable to meet the referee's count. The Young Bucks pick up the victory.

Benny Blades, Dupae Rupa and Nathan Arnold Charging d. Patriot III and the Barking Spiders when Charging pins Clutch with a leaping belly to belly suplex
Clutch took the brunt of the attack from the other team. Rupa hit the Belgian bodyslam. Charging came in and finished Clutch off with a leaping belly to belly suplex.

Alpha Champion Chuck Taylor pins J.D. Maverick w/ Larry Sweeney with the AWFUL WAFFLE
Taylor kicked out of the Top Rope Elbow Drop from Maverick. Taylor caught him with the Sole Food and then finished him off with the Awful Waffle. Taylor wins an absolute back and forth war here.

Chris Hero pins Bryan Danielson with the RUBIK'S CUBE
Danielson never really got going in this match. Hero hit the Rubik's Cube and won the match in relatively quick fashion.

Main Event:
Underground Title Match:
the Sandman d. Nigel McGuinness (c) by DQ
This match quickly turned into a wild brawl. It spilled out of the ring and McGuinness grabbed the Sandman's signapore cane and repeatedly hit him with it. The referee decided to call for the disqualification.

The Sandman catches Nigel McGuinness with the Hardcore DDT after the match. The Sandman drinks beer and lights a cigarette in the middle of the ring as the show comes to an end.

Alpha Championship:
The deal with the Alpha Championship is that the challenger gets to name the stipulation to the match right before the actual match starts. So the challenger usually tries to highlight his strengths while exposing the weaknesses of his opponent.

Tag Team Division:
Starting last week my fed uses the Chikara point system for the tag team division. To earn a title shot a team must earn 3 pts. and then petition for the title shot. This means that you have to win three matches in a row. A loss will reset the point total at 0.

Underground Television: 8/1/2010

live from the Newport Music Hall, Columbus, Ohio

Alpha Champion Chuck Taylor and his masked bodyguards are backstage. He calls Erick Stevens a big dumb ox and promises that he's going to retain his championship tonight. He didn't put all of that work in beating Sam Hayne just so he could lose the belt again.

Tyler Black pins Dr. Cube with the PHOENIX SPLASH
Dr. Cube put up a real battle in this match but Black finally caught him with the Phoenix Splash and secured the victory for himself.

Louden Noxious catches up with Tyler Black. Noxious asks if Black has really broken off from Age of the Fall. Black says that it's a done deal. He's no longer a member of Age of the Fall and he';s no longer going to be held back by Jimmy Jacob's incompetent leadership. Black says that a new age is dawning in the UCW. And it's going to be an age of Tyler Black at the top of the mountain.

Patriot III pins Crossbones with the PATRIOT SPLASH
Patriot III hit the Liberty Valley Driver on Crossbones and then caught him with the Patriot Splash to pick up the win. Patriot III continues his successfully 2010 with another victory.

Briscoe Brothers are backstage. Jay talks about how they've held the RoH, FIP, GHC and the CZW Tag Team Titles in the past. As he's mentioned in the past, they've come to UCW to add the Underground Tag Team Titles to that list.

Mark speaks up. He finds London and Kendrick to be overrated as a tag team. They've been teaming up for over a decade while London and Kendrick just team up here and there. Next week, the Briscoes are going to show what superior tag team tactics can do in the ring.

Barking Spiders d. the Heartbreak Express w/ Larry Sweeney when Ox pins Sean with the SPIDER BITE DROP
This was a back and forth match. The ending came when Clutch tagged Ox in and they hit the Spider Bite Drop on Sean Davis to pick up the victory.

Backstage, Commissioner Charlie Cox has called Underground Champion Nigel McGuinness into his office. Cox informs McGuinness that he's going to be facing the Sandman in a rematch for the belt in a few weeks. It's company policy to give an automatic rematch when the champion loses by DQ or count out.

Nigel McGuinness seems very upset at this decision.

the Samoan Island Tribe d. Naptown Dragons when Alofa pins Lee with a clothesline
This match was just a brutal brawl between these two teams. Alofa finally leveled Dustin Lee with a clothesline and covered to get the victory for the Samoan Island Tribe.

Underground Television Champion Ultramantis Black comes out. He calls himself the greatest Television Champion in the history of the UCW. He's decided to issue an open challenge. If anyone wants a title shot tonight then come on down.

Fire Ant answers the challenge...

Underground Television Title Match:
Fire Ant d. Ultramantis Black (c) by DQ
Fire Ant absolutely dominated this match. He hit the Beach Break but Black got a foot on the ropes. Black bailed to the outside of the ring. Fire Ant followed and Black rammed him into the ring post. The referee had seen enough at this point and called for the disqualification.

Ultramantis Black signals for the rest of the Order to come down to the ring. It's a 4 on 1 beatdown as Crossbones, Dr. Cube and Delirious come down to the ring. Green Ant and Solider Ant finally come out to make the save.

Erick Stevens pins Chuck Taylor (c) with the Doctor Bomb
This was a wild main event as both men came really close to putting their opponent away. Stevens kicked out of the Awful Waffle and then fought off Taylor's bodyguards. Stevens hit the Doctor Bomb on Taylor and got the pinfall and is the new Alpha Champion.

Erick Stevens grabs one of the masked bodyguards after the match and rips off the mask to reveal Icarus. The crowd lets out a shocked gasp. The other bodyguard attacks Stevens from behind and puts the boots to him before tearing off his own mask to reveal Gran Akuma. Team F.I.S.T. stands tall in the center of the ring to end the show.

Round 1:

byes: Sara Del Ray, April Hunter

MsChif pins Trinity DeNucci with the DESECRATOR
Trinity briefly put up a fight but MsChif overwhelmed her. MsChif wore her down with the Gates of Hell II and then hit the Desecrator to progress in the tournament.

Tammy Lynn Sytch pins Daizee Haze with a roll up
Haze went for a cross body block but Sytch rolled through and got the surprise pinfall victory to progress.

Semi-Final:

MsChif pins Sara Del Ray with the DESECRATOR
This was a real back and forth battle. The ending came when MsChif caught Del Ray with the Code Green and then used the Desecrator to progress to the final.

April Hunter pins Tammy Lynn Sytch with the HEAD HUNTER
Sytch put up a real fight here. There were several moments where it looked like Sytch might earn the upset victory. But April Hunter showed her superior athletic ability and pinned Sytch with the Head Hunter.

Final:

MsChif d. April Hunter by DQ
Hunter really beat on MsChif during this match. She worked the Hunter's Hangman for most of the match. MsChif managed to hit the Desecrator at one point but Hunter got a foot on the ropes. Hunter got MsChif out of the ring and repeatedly rammed her into the ring apron. The referee had seen enough and called for the disqualification. MsChif becomes the first ever Underground Women's Champion.
