After taking a bit of a break from the game, I've decided to start over fresh with an old-school NWA Territories feel. The overall promotion will be the L.W.F. (Legends of Wrestling Federation) with three individual territories. There will be travelling champions going from territory to territory to make defenses.
I'm starting out with tournaments to crown the World Champion and the World Tag Team Champions, then I'll run through who is in each territory. I'll be populating the territories by having each one "pay" for the talent by using the Lord Rahl Ranking System as a contract price, and each territory will have a set amount of points to spend. I won't be using bootlegs and some of the wrestlers will simply not be used due to the salary caps on the territories. The inaugural World and Tag Team Champions will not belong to any one territory to start out, and they will be left out of the drafts, so that's why I'm holding the tournaments to crown the champions beforehand.
So, without further ado, here's the sixteen-man World Championship Tournament. There were some upsets and some very surprising results.
Round One
1. The Crusher b. Ted Dibiase via countout after a gruelling brawl outside of the ring. The Million Dollar Man was doing well for himself until things went outside the ring, too.
2. The Iron Sheik b. Bobo Brazil via submission with the Camel Clutch to cap off a spectacular match.
3. Nick Bockwinkel b. The Destroyer by pinfall after the Destroyer missed a charge in the corner.
4. Rikidozan b. The Sheik with the Hiplock after a gruelling fight.
5. Killer Kowalski b. Mil Mascaras with the Kowalski Claw.
6. Johnny Valentine b. Pepper Gomez with the Atomic Skullcrusher after a tough fight.
7. Buddy Rogers b. Ivan Koloff via submission with the Figure Four Grapevine after spending most of the match on the defensive.
8. Harley Race b. Larry Zbyszko by pinfall.
Round Two
1. The Crusher b. The Iron Sheik via dq when the brawl outside the ring turned ugly.
2. Rikidozan b. Nick Bockwinkel with the Hiplock after what might have ot be considered the best match of the tournament.
3. Johnny Valentine b. Killer Kowalski in the shortest match in the tournament.
4. Buddy Rogers b. Harley Race with the Figure four Grapevine after an intense match that saw momentum change hands many times.
Semi-Finals
1. The Crusher b. Rikidozan by disqualification once more when the brawl outside the ring turned ugly.
2. Buddy Rogers b. Johnny Valentine with his trademark Figure four grapevine after a gruelling match. It must be said that Valentine looked like he was going to win this one right up until the very end.
Finals
1. A battered and bruised Buddy Rogers managed to put the Crusher into the dreaded Figure Four Grapevine to secure the win by submission!
The winner of the tournament and your first L.W.F. World Heavyweight Champion... "Nature Boy" Buddy Rogers!
