During my booking challenge, I decided to exploit Drake Younger's technical skills over his hardcore side. I know I posted this before, but I just wanted to share it again. I love using this for Drake, as it allows him to shine as more than a garbage wrestler. Changes: replace L3O #4: Out of The Ring with: - Even: Frog Splash - 3
- Odd: springboard moonsault - 3
& replace L3O #5: Attack with Light Tube - 3 Add 1 dis* with: - Even: Drake 'N' Bake - 3 Add 1
- Odd: Muta Lock with Duel Chicken-wings - 3
Drake 'N' Bake = Pump-handle Death Valley Driver The other modification I make (which is a common one), I use hurt - 2 instead of down - 3 on Bruiser Brody's Level 2 Defense. I always think of it this way: when I use the hurt - 2, then Brody should be a "monster". When I use the down - 3 for him, it is when he is wrestling some one who is evenly matched with. Are there any changes / modifications that you use on official cards? If you use some, please tell us why you use it and how it works for you?

During my booking challenge, I remember that well. Are there any changes / modifications that you use on official cards? If you use some, please tell us why you use it and how it works for you? I shy away from changing card mechanics because it goes against the author's intent. With CotG I will alter my interpretation of sci-fi intensive moves and turn them into something representative of sport wrestling (ie. Bishop Hell has a HELLFIRE finisher that I envisioned as a version of the Oriental Tool as used by late 80's World Class wrestler Brian Adias, Alpha Force's ULTIMATE FORCE was a back mount RNC). I also imagine the use of different variations of finishers when they hit multiple times in a match (ie. Chaos had BOW OF DEFEAT designated on his card three times and I imagined an inverted version, over the shoulder, grounded version, etc.).

I agree with you, LWPD, but guy will wrestle differently in different places. Drake is a perfect example of this. He is definately hardcore in CZW and on the indy circuit. But he does leave all the hardcore violence behind sometimes and shows his real wrestling skill.
I think that the new Chris Hero SE shows just how different certain cards can be when they wrestle a different style.

I've had the urge to tweak Steve Corino's card for quite some time to make it more in line with his Japan days rather than his ECW days but so far I haven't. I'd probably change his finisher to the Lariat or Northern Lights Bomb and get rid of the attack with ringside object and replace it with the Colbykaze or the Old School Expulsion.

Ok, as I said, I will work out some alternate moves for Corino (as well as his Mr. Wrestling 3 persona). It should be really cool.

When I played COTG feds, I would often change what the actual moves were for certain guys' finishers, if I didn't like what the book said or if I thought a different move fit the character better. I would often base things on current real life wrestlers of that time period and if their wrestling style fit one of Tom or Mark's characters. Being part of the LOW team, I don't change the card stats too often. But I've done it for special angles or storylines for short time periods. One that pops into my mind is with Buddy Rose. After being a two-time World champ in my USWA, I had him leave for a year, saying that Nick Bockwinkel gave him a knee injury in the FIGURE-FOUR. When Rose returned, I knew there was a good chance the dice would not be as kind to him and he may not have the same success he did the first time. So to give him a better chance and to fit the storyline from the last time he wrestled in the USWA, I said that he wore a knee brace over the knee that Bockwinkel injured. The USWA allowed him to wear it, but wouldn't let him use it against an opponent. I had Rose's BOMBS AWAY become a (+2), but added a (dis) stipulation on it. Rose was joined by Sherri Martel when he returned, so Sherri would distract the ref, while Rose hit the knee drop with the brace (assuming he didn't roll his DQ). At the end of the storyline, it was revealed that Rose never needed the knee brace; that the injury had long since healed and he didn't need it. So the USWA Committee made him remove the brace and then I started using his original stats again.

Cory, I totally agree with you about not changing cards. It is a very rare thing, but Drake wrestles so differentlt in non-hardcore feds than he does in places like CZW. I would LOVE to see a special edition come out of some other guys (like the Chris Hero's new card). But until then, I will use my Younger.
As for the Corino talk earlier, I have the moves laid out and I am doing a few more play tests and then I will post it.

Ok, so for Steve Corino, here are the two additions/changes that would make him more into a Japanese version of him, instead of the more ECW style that is the official card.
Level 3 Offense
#5: replace with this: Even: Old School Bomb - 3, Odd: ColbyKaze DDT - 3
#6: Add a * after his finisher, with the * reading: "Sometimes uses OLD SCHOOL LARIAT (+1)" {This is the idea used on Terry Gordy's card}
As for the Mr. Wrestling 3 conversion, there are two changes. Level 3 Offense: #5: replace with Cobra Clutch - 3 #6: replace with ISLAND-PLEX (+1)
Let me know what you think.

I don't mind move tweaks that don't impact the strength of the cards very much.
