Championship Ideas

I had the NOW Heavyweight Championship when NOW was a viable promotion. In January of this year I had NOW go bankrupt and get absorbed by Underground Wrestling. Commissioner Charlie Cox told then champion Patriot III that he was going to change the belt around eventually but had to figure it out.

Nine months later and I still haven't decided what to do with the belt. I have a couple of ideas but never commit to any of them. First you have to know. I have a belt called the Alpha Championship. This is modeled after a promotion I used to watch earlier this decade. The gist of that belt is that the challenger gets to set the stipulations of the match right before it starts.

X Division Championship - if a guy has a -1 agility or lower then he would be allowed to compete for the belt.

Underground Fight Club Championship - this would be a no holds barred belt. There would be specific guys challenging for a belt and they would join the Underground Fight Club as a league of sorts. W-L records would be kept and you would need a good record to challenge for the belt.

Trios Championship - belt for trios to compete in. I'm trying to focus more on the trios side of my LOTF.

Young Lion's Cup - I've considered this one. My main issue is what do I do with it say 3 years from now. Should I graduate guys out of it eventually or would say Fire Ant always be in this division?

Those are my main ideas currently. Which idea do you guys like best? I'm also open to other belt ideas.

X Division but call it the Omega Championship and have the requirement be either a -1 agility OR weight below 210. That way a few more LOTF guys will be included.

I like that idea a lot. I need to look at my cards and see what kind of list I'm dealing with for an Omega division.

I've been toying with an idea that an Intercontinental Title in my fed (should I do one) should be open only to wrestlers with a pin rating of 3 or worse. Also, a Speciality Match Championship Title which does what it says on the tin, a belt contested by speciality matches.

I'm renaming my cruiserweight division. I've geen thinking of calling it the Xtreme division, for the extreme style of the high flyers.

I like the Young Lions cup An idea to float along - have it exclusively defended and contested among the most recent wrestlers from the LOTF sets?

grungeboy, not bad, but it sounds to me like a hybrid between hardcore and high flying... you know, that would make an interesting division in an of itself! Forget that I said not bad. I should have said GOOD!

Jimmyface, that is a GREAT idea! It would be easy to use will wrestlers like Arik Cannon, Drake Younger, Delirious and others. In fact, has there ever been a division like that?

For my Amazon Wrestling Pro federation (all women's fed featuring real wrestlers), I have a specialty title, Queen of the Cage. And she is just that, champion of the cage matches. And she defends that only once a month since the damage usually incurred in that kind of match.

I'd tend to use the Young Lion's Cup more like King of the Ring than like an actual title. That allows you to "elevate" someone and keep them in the spotlight without having to set a classification system up for it.

I'd do it once a year, but you could always have it held more frequently if you prefer. Whatever works for your fed.
