The Backstory: In the year 2011 advances in science and time travel have been put to many uses...averting natural disasters, putting an end to war, and of course the noblest of all causes....creating the ultimate wrestling federation! Join us now as our host "Mean" Gene Okerlund introduces us to Legends of Wrestling!
-----
We open up our telecast with Mean Gene sitting in the LOW television studios.
Okerlund: Welcome ladies and gentlemen to this special program, a look ahead at all the great professional wrestling action that will be coming your way from Legends of Wrestling.
Local promoters have put together a roster of 24 of the all time greats from wrestling's golden past. These men have come together for a very simple cause...to see who is truly the best of the best.
Over the past 3 nights tournaments have been held at arenas across the country. These tournaments wrapped up last night at the Cobo Arena in Detroit, Michigan. Here with the results of those tournaments are the men who will serve as the official commentary team for Legends of Wrestling...Jim Ross and Bobby "The Brain" Heenan!
-----
We cut to an empty Cobo Arena where Jim Ross and Bobby Heenan are standing by the ring.
Jim Ross: Thank you Gene, and folks I gotta tell ya these tournaments have provided some fantastic action. Earlier tonight Bobby we saw the LOW World Tag Team Champions, and the LOW World Heavyweight Champion crowned.
Heenan: We did indeed and I have to say Ross, I was thrilled with half of the results!
Ross: Somehow I knew you'd say that. Let's look now at highlights from the final night of tournament action.
-----
(We cut to highlights with Ross and Heenan providing commentary over the footage)
Ross: In the finals for the World Tag Team Titles The Road Warriors, the heavy favorites going into the tournament, faced off against the father and son tag team of the Valentines. It was a match between 4 tough, tough men Bobby.
Heenan: Yeah these guys are as tough as shoe leather...and Greg Valentine's face kind of looks like shoe leather too...
Ross: Well looks aside the Valentine's gave it their all and scored a few close calls, but in the end Hawk blasted Greg Valentine with a running lariat for the pinfall and the win at 21:03. The Road Warriors live up to their potential and win the titles!
-----
Ross: And then the main event, the finals for the World Heavyweight Title. The Million Dollar Man Ted Dibiase taking on Handsome Harley Race. Two of the greatest of all time locking up in a best two of three falls match. Neither man had an easy road to the finals Brain.
Heenan: Not at all. Here in LOW there really are no easy matches. Dibiase had to take on Red Bastien, Jimmy Snuka and Frank Gotch to get the finals!
Ross: And Harley Race didn't meet any slouches either, he fought King Kong Bundy, The Destroyer and Giant Baba to get to the finals! With that the final match began and it was a best 2 of 3 falls match.
Heenan: But it didn't take three falls, did it JR?
Ross: No Brain, it surely didn't. Ted Dibiase was impressive as alwasys winning both falls with his Million Dollar Sleeper to take the match at 21:53.
Heenan: Dibiase was my pick before these tournaments ever started! He's a thinking man's wrestler!
Ross: He's a great wrestler, I'll give him that much, but he's going to have a huge target on his back now that he's the World Champion. We return now to Gene Okerlund in the LOW Studios!
-----
Gene Okerlund: And so there you have it folks! The Million Dollar Man, Ted Dibiase and The Road Warriors have claimed gold here in Legends of Wrestling. Can they hang onto those titles? Who will their challengers be? How will the remaining wrestlers attempt to climb the ranks? The answers to these and many more questions will be answered each and every Monday night when Championship Wrestling comes to you live with big time matches, exclusive interviews, and behind the scenes news!
This coming Monday on our first live show we have an absolute barn burner. Not only will we have the first live interview with the World Heavyweight Champion, Ted Dibiase, but a huge main event has been signed as well. In a rematch from the World Title Tournament quarter finals, we'll see BoBo Brazil face off with The Destroyer!
Make sure you're there, this Monday, live!
