After months of bouncing around the idea, and then playing around with it, I have decided to start a mixed fed called the Global Wrestling Alliance.
I have enjoyed reading the mixed feds, such as CB Colossus’ NWA, or SuperstarJimiC’s NWA, which aided in me in going along with this. My main inspiriations were Stu, and his GWF. I have always been entertained by his fed, and wanted to do one of my own. My other inspiration is Cruefans’s fed. Though his is a Legends fed, I love his territory system. So I have taken a their ideas, and mold them into a mixed fed of my own, with a territory system. Below is a quick story about the formation of the fed, and some notes.
In 1988, Jim Crockett Jr. sold Jim Crockett Promotions to Ted Turner. Selling his company wasn’t something he wanted to do, but it was necessary to see his brand live on, albeit under a different name, as JCP was on the verge of bankruptcy. Since that time, Crockett tried a couple times to get back into the business, but his attempts failed, and it looked like Crockett would never get back into the business which he loved…that is until a chance encounter…
One night, Crockett stopped off at a local establishment, and parked himself at the bar to have a few drinks. While there, the WWE came on the TV, and Crockett’s mood quickly soured, and he began complaining about pro wrestling today. Two gentlemen sitting next to him, who looked like they were on their way to a toga party, overhead Crockett’s complaints. The two men struck up a conversation with Crockett. They introduced themselves as Actagon and Proteus, the Greek Gods. Crockett jokingly asked if the Greek Gods was a pro wrestling tag team name. Much to his surprise, the answer to that question was yes!
For next couple hours, Actagon and Proteus told Crockett all about their wrestling exploits across the galaxy, and across time! Crockett was in awe of what he was hearing. But after the stories were told, Crockett grew skeptical, and asked the men how much they had to drink. That’s when Actagon pulled out an other worldly looking device, and played video for Crockett of some of their various wrestling matches! Crockett was stunned.
After sitting in stunned silence for a minute, Crockett asked how all this was possible. Proteus simply answered, “Time Travel!” He explained time travel is a reality, and though it is strictly monitored, and not cheap, it’s done by Beings from all parts of the galaxy, and from different time frames.
After further talks, a light bulb went off in Crockett’s head…with these possibilities, he could possibly bring together wrestlers from the past, present, and future together, in one ultimate wrestling organization.
Crockett and the Greek Gods continued meeting at this same bar for months, outlining plans to start the Global Wrestling Alliance. It was an ambitious dream, but one that was now seemingly possible. But it was going to expensive to bring all these wrestlers together. But the Gods had a man in mind, who had almost unlimited resources. The Gods traveled forward in time to talk to this unknown benefactor, as well as a few other sources who could help in this venture.
After a little over a year of planning, everything was in place. The mysterious benefactor, like Crockett, saw huge potential in the Global Wrestling Alliance. With the help of Actagon and Proteus, Crockett traveled through time, approaching hundereds of wrestlers to come to his time, and take part in the GWA. There were many skeptical of this venture, especially earth wrestlers. Some earth wrestlers wanted no part in battling “aliens,” while others saw it as a great challenge. When it was all said and done, Crocektt assembled a roster of a little over 200 wrestlers.
Word spread of Crockett’s new venture, and while there was a lot of outcry against it from not only people within wrestling, but outside of wrestling as well, Crockett eventually got the approval of the government, which wasn’t easy, and required A LOT of investigating, to bring forth these wrestlers through time. There were many promoters across the US, as well as internationally, whose promotions were fledgling, and wanted to take part in the Global Wrestling Alliance.
Seven promotions joined the GWA. Jim Crockett announced the GWA would operate like the NWA. The GWA would be the governing body of it’s member territories, and the GWA would have world champions that would travel amongst the promotions. The member territories of the GWA would be All Star Wrestling, United States Championship Wrestling, National Wrestling League, International Wrestling Association, Pro Wrestling Xtreme, New Era Pro Wrestling, and Southern Championship Wrestling.
With everything now in place, Crockett booked Madison Square Garden for 4 days worth of big cards, which would crown the intial champions of the GWA!
Fed Notes
-There are four World Titles in the GWA: World Heavyweight, World Tag Team, World Junior Heavyweight, and World Television. The champions will travel across the promotions defending the belt. The TV Title will be defend on a weekly basis, in 10 minute time limit matches.
-Each promotion will also have their own titles. Those titles are as follows.
ASW North American Heavyweight
ASW North American Tag Team
IWA International Heavyweight
IWA International Tag Team
NWL National Heavyweight
NWL National Tag Team
USCW United States Heavyweight
USCW United States Tag Team
SCW Southern Heavyweight
SCW Southern Tag Team
NEPW Mid Atlantic Heavyweight
NEPW Mid Atlantic Tag Team
PWX Xtreme Heavyweight
PWX Xtreme Tag Team
It’s a lot of titles, but there are a lot of wrestlers involved.
-Each promotion has a roster of around 35-40 wrestlers, which were picked somewhat randomly.
-Each promotion will only run certain territories. I do have combined pay per views planned.
-Thanks to COTG/Legends Online, I will run full cards for each fed, but for posting, I’ll probably do like a recap type show, highlighting the bigger matches and feuds across the promotions.
-I ran 16 man/team tournaments to crown the first champions, and below is the list of champions to start things off.
GWA World Heavyweight Champion: Chaos(beat Buddy Rogers in the finals)
GWA World Tag Team Champions: Rush/Turmoil(beat The Fabulous Kangaroos in the finals)
GWA World Junior Heavyweight Champion: Ensor(beat Enigma in the finals)
GWA World Television Champion: Rick Rude(beat Iron Shiek in the finals)
In the next day or say, I will start running cards for each territory, and get to posting results!
