This is my LOTF fed. I have started the PWO a few times but never really liked the mix of the LOTF sets with LOW sets. I have decided to clear the decks and go with strictly LOTF cards for the time being.
Card 1.1: Moose Lodge, Kitchener - The Tri City Triple Threat
Chris Hero comes to the ring to a huge “Kings of Wrestling” chant from ringside. Hero cuts a promo that talks about how he has competed and been successful around the globe and now he has come to OCW and he will once again be successful. Hero calls out Commission Cox and demands that the be give the OCW Title right now so that they do not waste his time and the fans time with some tournament which Hero will win regardless. Cox tells Hero that titles in the OCW are earned and he can start tonight in a Triple Threat Match when he takes on Mike Quackenbush and Delirious. Hero is not impressed but we have our main event.
Match 1: Harker Dirge v. Savage T w/K.J. Hill
Dirge clears the ring with his chain before the announcer can finish the introductions. The fans are all over him. The story in this one is Dirge dominating the action and T finding a way to kick out each pin attempt. Dirge turns up the heat when he chokes out T at ringside with his chain. Hill saves T from being pinned after an abdominal stretch and sweep. She cannot save T from a DIRT NAP. (Dirge 3; T 9) (**)
Match 2: Dupae Rupa v. Arik Cannon
The Belgian Brawler holds a distinct size advantage in this one but Cannon has showed in the past he can hang with the big boys and he has the fans behind him tonight. As expected Rupa breaks out the power moves early on including a Belgian Bodyslam but Cannon uses his agility and speed to turn things around. A spinning neckbreaker (ch) puts Rupa down for a near fall before Cannon hits the BURNING HAMMER for the win (Rupa 7; Cannon 4) (*)
Match 3: The Samoan Island Tribe v. The Backseat Boyz
The fans are ready for some tag team action. This is another classic matchup of power v. speed. Trent Acid takes the action to Alofa early on including a plancha and Blue Thunder Bomb. The Boyz then double team Alofa and when the referee steps in, Johnny Kashmere shoves the official to the mat. The referee promptly calls for the disqualification and this one ends too early. Samu is in the ring and it is bedlam. The Boyz bail from ringside and draw great heat as the leave ringside. (Alofa 4; Samu3; Acid 4; Kashmere 3) (dud)
Match 4: Ricky Landell v. Claudio Castagnoli
There is another ‘Kings of Wrestling” chant at the start of this one. There is a great spot early on where Castagnoli counters a spinning chop and hits a scissor kick to the face for a near fall. Great back and forth action in this one. Landell nearly pulls out the win with a double-arm underhook suplex that looked very impressive. Castagnoli is trapped in the ropes at one point and Landell lets him out in a respect angle. The end comes when Castagnoli uses an Alpamare Waterslide to set up another scissors kick to the face for the three count. They do the respect angle at the end and shake hand much to the pleasure of the crowd before Castagnoli then lays out Landell with a RICOLA BOMB drawing great heat from the fans. (Landell 7; Castagnoli 4) (**)
Match 5: Naptown Dragons v. Heartbreak Xpress and Larry Sweeney
Great action in this one from bell to bell. The Dragon’s dominate and the Xpress and Sweeney always find a way to hang on. The Dragons cut off Phil Davis early on and Davis takes a great beating but his teammates save him from KISS OF THE DRAGON. The Xpress turns things around with Sean Davis carrying the load with Sweeney only tagging in when it is advantageous to do so. The Dragons are finally able to cut off Sweeney from this corner and go to work much to the pleasure of the fans. Phil Davis saves Sweeney from a DRAKES LANDING but Drake Younger pins Sweeney moments later with a deathjump cross body block. (Sweeney 7; S. Davis 5; P. Davis 6; Vortekz 4; Lee 3; Younger 4) (** ½)
Match 6: Necro Butcher v. Timber
Butcher opens with a flying hammerlock into a victory roll but Timber reversed out into a standing dropkick… and then I woke up! The fans were braced for impact from the opening bell with the Butcher and Insane Lumberjack in the ring. This one went from the extreme to Bizarre when Sam Hayne came to ringside and just stood and watched the action. Timber finally noticed him and Hayne just stood with his arms folded and told Timber “Impress Me.” Something turned on inside Timber from that point as he took control of the match at ringside after ramming Butcher into the ring rails and finished the match with a moonsault. Timber immediately yelling out to Hayne wanting to know what his problem was. The distraction allows Butcher to attack Timber from behind and lay him out with a TIGER DRIVER. Hayne seemed pleased laughing and saying “very good, very good” before heading to the back. (Butcher 5; Timber 4) (*)
Match 7: J. D. Michaels w/April Hunter v. Adam Pearce w/Eddie Fyne
Pearce gets into it with the fans and is quickly the most hated man in the building. Pearce does not earn any more fans when he simply destroys his Canadian opponent. A powerslam gives Pearce a two count before he ends it quickly with JUMPING PILEDRIVER (Michaels 6; Pearce 4) (dud)
Match 8: Triple Threat Match – Mike Quackenbush v. Delirious v. Chris Hero
This one gets plenty of time and is nonstop action from start to finish. Delirious is on fire early on with a series of leaping clotheslines that take out both Hero and Quackenbush. Quackenbush is out of the action for a while after Hero crushed him at ringside with a Hero stomp off the apron. All three men are very closely matched. The ring shakes as Hero takes four consecutive Panic Attacks! Quackenbush saves Delirious from a HERO’S WELCOME. Delirious is out of it at ringside for some time and the fans get Quackenbush v. Hero which gets a huge reaction from ringside. Delirious rolls clear or Quackenbush’s deathjump smash and nearly gets a three count. The end comes with Hero on the area floor and Quackenbush hits the QUACKENDRIVER II on Delirious for the three count. (Quackenbush 5, Delirious 7, Hero 5) (****)
News and views: Solid opening show with a fantastic main event that could have gone any way . . . Ricky Landell was not impressed backstage after his match against Claudio Castagnoli. Landell had demanded a rematch with Castagnoli . . . What business does Sam Hayne have with Timber the Insane Lumberjack?
