THE Z OPEN INVITATIONAL!

Oh Yeah! That time of the year again, where the GWFZ has their annual Open Invitational! Each year, the Z will invite 16 wrestlers from their rival promotions, the POW, The aCe and the GWF to come to their tournament for bragging rights! 64 man tournament! With points on the line for each win they get for their respective promotion!

This is how it is broken down.

Points System:
6 points for a win by Submission or Pinfall by Finisher.
4 points for a win by submission or pinfall by a Specialty move/hold.
3 points for a win by submission or pinfall by any other move/hold (schoolboy roll ups or non specialty moves).
2 points for a win by DQ
1 point for a win by Count Out.
6 points for a win in a Specialty Match*

*Specialty Matches can occur when at the beginning of the match, if the roll is doubles, a special match is chosen by the Special Match chart in the 2112 Ringside Companion.

And here's the brackets:

Each win is important as it's an elimination style tournament. Making it to the Bonus Rounds is also important! As wrestlers will receive BONUS POINTS for making it to the Sweet Sixteen, Excellent Eight, Final Four and Championship Round.

Here's how the bonus points go.

SWEET SIXTEEN = 10 points + win points.
EXCELLENT EIGHT = 14 points + win points.
FINAL FOUR = 18 points + win points.
CHAMPIONSHIP = 24 points + win points.

A wrestler could make up some serious ground just for advancing to the bonus rounds! Lots of pride on the line and no one likes losing this tournament! This could very well be the last traditional Z invite as the POW and aCe will be closing their doors after this year, in which the Z will host an Invite in a different format in 2126 with the Territories System! So this tournament is sort of special.

Will the Z win their own tournament this year or will their rivals get the better of them?

Absalom beat Darkseed by DQ after Darkseed tossed Absalom into the ring railing and then tossed the referee aside. The POW gets 2 points for the win.

Coven Black beat Assassin Z with DIAMOND EYES. The GWF gets 6 points for the win.

Conundrum beat Nitro with the LOADED QUESTION. The POW gets 6 points for the win.

Aspin Northstar upset Totalis the Tournament Master by hitting a maximum FLASH OF BRILLIANCE (+6). The ACE gets 6 points for the win.

Crucible beat Zeta Grey with some chops to the chest. The POW gets 3 points for the win.

Mr. Payne defeated Strong with a death valley driver. The Z gets 3 points for the win!

Pretty close round thus far. The POW earned 17 points in the 3rd bracket alone. But it's still anyone's game. With one more bracket left in the first round, who will come out the leader after the first round action? Stay tuned to find out!

Pride beat Sycophant with a Scorpion Death Lock. The Z gets 6 points for the win.

JJ Smooth beat Plethador with PRESSED SMOOTH. The POW gets 6 points for the win.

IN A SCORPI KING OF THE RING MATCH.
Hanuman beat Scud after he locked in a bearhug and tossed Scud out of the ring. The POW earned 6 points for the win.

Ensor beat Morbid after hitting 3 consecutive ERUPTION OF THARSIS. The GWF earned 6 points for the win.

Points Standing after Round 1:

POW = 49 points
The Z = 40 points
GWF = 39 points
ACE = 30 points.

After Round 1, The POW continues to roll. After a slow start, the POW poured on the offense and earned a whopping 35 points in the second half of the round to keep themselves in first place!

The Z came back nicely after Bracket 4 to propel themselves into 2nd place and the GWF is right there in the thick of things, only being one point behind the Z!

The ACE continues to struggle and are on the outside looking in. The only way for them to save some face now is to have their wrestlers in the second round win big and get some much needed bonus points for making the Sweet Sixteen!

The Road to the Final Four is getting closer. Round 2 is complete and what a statement made by the POW and GWF this round! Let's look at what went down with the quick results!

Gryt beat The Legacy by DQ when The Legacy used OUTER RAGE. The GWF earned 12 points for Gyrt advancing to the Sweet Sixteen round!

The Betrayer defeated Indigo in a competitive match up after using BLACK BETRAYAL. The GWF earned 16 points for The Betrayer's advancement to the Sweet Sixteen round!

Gunnar beat Nightmare with SAFETY OFF. The POW gained 16 points for Gunnar's advancement to the Sweet Sixteen round!

The Phenomenal Swift squeaked by Matinee Idol in a very close match up, landing a deathjump crossbody block to get the pin. The Z earned 13 points for Swift's advancement to the Sweet Sixteen round.

IN A MILKY WAY FALLS COUNT ANYWHERE MATCH.
Retribution came back to beat Odyssey after slamming Odyssey into the giant Holovision screen with a running powerslam! The GWF earned 16 points for Retribution's advancement to the Sweet Sixteen round.

Mantis beat SIMboT Zero with his RAPTORAL GRASP. The GWF earned 16 points for Mantis' advancement to the Sweet Sixteen round.

Narcotik defeated Drake Ikon quickly with his Springboard Dropkick. The Z earned 14 points for Narcotik's advancement to the Sweet Sixteen Round.

The Zealot came back and narrowly defeated Scarewolf with OVERZEALOUS. The Zealot earned 16 points for the POW for his advancement to the Sweet Sixteen Round.

Konari upset The Crow by DQ after the Crow whipped Konari into the guardrails outside the ring and wouldn't listen to the referee's instructions. Konari gained 12 points for the POW for his advancement to the Sweet Sixteen round.

Absalom upset Coven Black after hitting an early KILL SWITCH. The POW earned 16 points for Absalom's advancement to the Sweet Sixteen round.

Aspin Northstar continues to win, beating Conundrum after Conundrum was caught using the LOADED QUESTION. Aspin Northstar earned 12 points for the ACE for his advancement to the Sweet Sixteen Round.

Crucible defeated a game Mr. Payne after using the SINGULARITY. The POW earned 16 points for Crucible's advancement to the Sweet Sixteen Round!

Death Knight 2 continues to roll as he beat Torn with THE DEATH RIDE. The GWF gained 16 points for DK2's advancement to the Sweet Sixteen round.

Troy Boy gets by Marduuk after the referee was knocked out and Marduuk was distracted in trying to revive the referee. Troy Boy hits a low blow and then rolls Marduuk up for the three count. Troy Boy got The Z going again with 13 points for his advancement to the Sweet Sixteen.

Pride destroys JJ Smooth after hitting his PRIDE PUMP HANDLE SLAM! The Z gets 16 points for Pride's advancement to the Sweet Sixteen round.

Ensor defeated Hanuman with ERUPTION OF THARSIS! The GWF gets 16 points for Ensor's advancement to the Sweet Sixteen round!

The GWF had an excellent showing in the Second round, scoring a huge 92 points this round! They look to be in the drivers seat having 6 wrestlers in the Sweet Sixteen!

The POW was almost as impressive this round, as they had 76 unanswered points with 5 wrestlers in the Sweet Sixteen!

The Z held their own as they had 56 points this round to stay alive in the competition. They have 4 wrestlers in the Sweet Sixteen.

The ACE I'm afraid to say is all but over for them. The only bright spot is Aspin Northstar, the young soldier who some have said is the one Prophecy was promised! Will Aspin Northstar continue to roll and be the saving face of the ACE in the tournament? Can he go the distance and win the whole thing?

From this stand point, there are some clear favorites still alive in the tournament.

The Phenomenal Swift of the Z is always tough as well as Pride. These two could easily make the Final Four! Death Knight 2 could be there for the GWF and never count out Troy Boy either.

Some surprises thus far is in the POW camp. Absalom making the Sweet Sixteen just goes to show that anything can happen in this tournament! Konari is another that has surprised some. Crucible is dangerous when the State of Fear is in effect, but with out it, he's definitely not one you'd think would make it this far! Even the young Mantis has shown some promise and could be a sleeper if he can continue to wrestle well.

Back at the Z Invitational! Things are heating up as The Z is looking to try and get themselves back in this thing! The POW is trailing the GWF, but it still can go either way! Who's going to take the command of the Invite during the Sweet Sixteen? Who will advance to the Excellent Eight? Let's look at the Sweet Sixteen quick results!

Gryt beat The Betrayer in a competitive match with the STRONGMAN STRETCH! Gryt earned 20 points for the GWF with his advancement to the Excellent Eight!

Gunnar upset The Phenomenal Swift after hitting a skullcrusher. The POW gained 17 points for Gunnar's advancement to the Excellent Eight.

Mantis came back to beat Retribution with the RAPTORAL GRASP. The GWF earned 20 points for Mantis' advancement to the Excellent Eight!

IN A HYDRA LUMBERJACK MATCH.
Narcotik wins the match over The Zealot when Ares hits STAND YOUR GROUND outside the ring and then rolled The Zealot back into the ring where Narcotik made the cover for the 1...2...3. The Z earned 20 points for Narcotik's advancement to the Excellent Eight!

Absalom beat Konari in a very even match up after using a running eye rake on the ropes and then a quick roll up for the win. The POW earned 17 points for Absalom's advancement to the Excellent Eight.

Aspin Northstar is still on a roll! He beat Crucible with the FLASH OF BRILLIANCE (+5). That win earned the ACE 20 points as Northstar makes the Excellent Eight!

IN A CIRCINUS CELL MATCH.
Death Knight 2 beat Troy Boy with THE DEATH RIDE. The GWF earned 20 points for Death Knight's advancement to the Excellent Eight.

Ensor beat Pride with the ERUPTION OF THARSIS. Ensor got 20 points for the GWF for his advancement to the Excellent Eight!

Wow, some really big surprises going in the Excellent Eight round!

Who would have thought that Aspin Northstar, the lone ACE competitor, would make it this far? This kid is all heart! And Mantis is there too.

The Dark Horse has to be either Absalom or Gunnar at this point! Both have never been this far in a tournament before and really have shown us that they have what it takes to make it big!

Death Knight 2 has to be the odds on favorite to win this tournament. He's looked impressive in every match he's in and no one has come close to even beating him.

Ensor has proven he belongs in the mix, beating the likes of Pride is no easy task.

Gryt the veteran of the Eight, could very well see him in the finals as well.

The GWF earned 80 points this round, that's huge! They are in the drivers seat to win the whole thing. with 4 of the 8 GWF wrestlers, it's automatic these guys will send someone to the final!

The POW earned 34 points this round, and are lagging behind. The only advantage they have is that they have 2 wrestlers in the Excellent 8 while the Z and ACE only have 1. The only way the Z or the ACE have a shot of redemption is winning the Invitational with their wrestler, even though their promotion will not win.

Alright, back at the Z Invitational! We're ready for our Excellent Eight! Here's who's facing who.

Gryt beat Gunnar with the STRONGMAN STRETCH. Gryt earned 24 points for the GWF for his advancement to the FINAL FOUR!

Narcotik beat Mantis in a close one, with the NEEDLE AND THE SPOON. Narcotik earned 24 points for the Z for his advancement to the FINAL FOUR!

Absalom continues on as he beat Aspin Northstar by count out. The POW earned 19 points for Absalom's win and advancing to the FINAL FOUR!

Death Knight 2 continues to roll as he beat Ensor with COSMIC LANCE. The GWF earned 24 points for the Death Knight's advancement to the FINAL FOUR!

Gryt taking on Narcotik!

Great match up, as Narcotik really made a great match out of it, but Gryt kept the pressure on with his STRONGMAN STRETCH to advance to the CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND! Gryt earned himself 30 points for the GWF for advancement!

Absalom vs. Death Knight 2!

Death Knight 2 tried to keep Absalom down, the Absalom has become the "cinderella" of this tournament, as he bounced back and kept hitting DK2 with everything he had. Finally, Absalom hit his KILL SWITCH to pin Death Knight and advance to the CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND!!!! Absalom has earned the POW 30 points for his advancement!

Points Standing looks like this:

GWF = 289 points.
POW = 208 points
The Z = 140 points
ACE = 62 points.

The GWF has all but sealed the deal in winning their first Z Invitational as a promotion. Can they take it all with Gryt? Or will the POW be the spoiler with the unbelievable Absalom?

Z INVITATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP!!!

Gryt vs. Absalom.

Gryt started off the action fast and furious, but Absalom battled back. Absalom kept the pressure on and Gryt just couldn't get the momentum back whatsoever! Absalom hits the KILL SWITCH and it's over! ABSALOM WINS THE Z INVITATIONAL!!!! He earned his POW the Championship!!! GWF takes the team part of the tournament, but the POW gets the championship trophy thanks to Absalom!

FINAL POINTS STANDING:

GWF = 289 points.
POW = 238 points.
The Z = 140 points.
ACE = 62 points.

What a great tournament. The GWF has to be happy as they really put on a good showing here today! Gryt has proved he can hang with the best of the newer talent and Absalom this has to be a dream come true. Let's talk to Absalom right now.

Absalom, tell us what you're feeling right now?!

AB: Wow, this is unbelievable. I've been in this business for a long time, but this has to be one of the biggest moments in my career. You know, about a year or so ago, I was ready to hang up my boots and retire. Things haven't been good for me in a long time. Constantly beat up, on the road covering the cosmos, show to show, never seeing my family, friends back home on Orion! Yeah, I was tired, beaten, and just plain sick of it all. But then the Z called up, asked if I wanted to be in this tournament!

I almost said "no", but decided, you know what, I've always enjoyed this tournament, they've been really good to me over the years, win or lose. I'll give it one more shot, being it's going to be the last one they do with the POW anyways! And what a way to help send it off.

Anyone you'd like to thank?

Oh yeah, first I want to thank my family for sticking by me and always supporting me in whatever I do! If I ever had a doubting moment, no matter what I said or did, they stood right by me! Thank you for that.

I'd like the thank the GWFZ for always thinking of me for these tournaments. You guys are a class act, you run a classy show, and I'm happy to be a part of what you do here!

And lastly, my company the POW! It's been a fun ride with you guys. Sucks that you're going down, closing up for good. But you know what, it's been one hell of a ride. I'm proud to be a part of your organization! One of the best promotions in the galaxy baby! To all my fellow peers that I've traveled with throughout the galaxy, you guys are some of the best people and friends ever! Um, yeah. I've seen him on video a lot, but never faced him inside the ring. He's very good, probably one of the most improved wrestlers right now. Obviously, anyone that makes it this far in the tournament, you know their good! And if they're in the GWF, you have to be! Great promotion, great talent, hard not to be! Gryt, brother, you gave me a good fight, and I am proud to have faced you tonight! Thank you for a great match!
