Well, I am back to try out a new idea. It's actually pretty similar to the last thing I was doing, which I stopped doing several months ago. What I was doing, for those who were not followed/forgot, I broke wrestlers and tag teams for each year into divisions, had them play out a schedule, and took the division winners and a couple wildcards and had a playoff tournament to determine the annual champions.
This was a lot of fun, but even by the time I got to 2089, coming up with a schedule was becoming very difficult. Bad enough that it discouraged me from continuing.
So now I'm going to try a new idea, one that has probably been done before, but it'll be fun for me.
I'm going put all the singles guys and all the tags into two separate tournaments. It will begin by several weeks of "qualifying" matches, depending on how large the pool of competitors is. On the first week, I will seed wrestlers/tags, based on where I think they will end up. For the following weeks, the winners will face the winners, and the losers will face the losers, so in week 2, we'll see a lot of 1-0 wrestlers square off along with a lot of 0-1 wrestlers going at it. The third week, we'll see 2-0s going at it, 1-1s doing battle, and 0-2s facing off, and so on. When I'm finished with the qualifying matches, the top 8 records will be entered into a single-elimination tournament and the winner will be the champion for that year. I see this as a good way to by pass making schedules.
For 2087, since there are only 8 singles and 8 tag teams, I will only have three weeks of qualifying matches, but in the future I will try to expand it.
I started running these and didn't take notes on how the matches ended, so for the first couple of weeks only a couple of matches will have that information. In the future I'll include it.
Hope someone enjoys reading this! I bet a lot of what I said makes no sense, but maybe it will later on.
Thanks guys!
