Ok I have had two instances of having to hold titles up..
On 4/9/06, Hardcore champion The Shiek fireballed Chris Candido to retain his title in hardcore rules match..By the rules of the fireball , he had to roll a suspension...The Shiek was suspended 4 cards and missed a title defense so the title was held up. I did put The Shiek in a triple threat match for the held up title but he didnt win.It took the Shiek 5 months to win another Hardcore title.
The more recent one happened in 2007 when Americas Champion Larry Zbyszko wrestled The Masked Superstar in Lumberjack Match. The match ended in a wild brawl so I held up the belt and held another triple threat match for the held up belt..
What do you all do in cases like these.....

Well, the fireball says nothing about requiring a suspension...just a DQ roll...so no situation like that has ever presented itself for me.
In a lumberjack match ending in a wild brawl, I probably would have left the belt on the champion...just as if it ended in a double DQ...probably scheduling a rematch.

I would have to agree with Tommy, just a DQ for the fireball and also with the champion retaining

Does the fireball have a suspension roll if you use Farouk with The Shiek? Can't remember. Also could have been a house rule
With the Lumberjack match, reschedule a match in the cage with a top on it. No Escape, pinfall or submission only

I don't think the Fireball has a suspension roll. So probably a house rule you use Holland. I have never suspended the Shiek for using the fireball. Just adds more heat to him.

ironicly Candido got burned again by the fireball in a later match..After that I decided to team Chris with Tom Prichard

I only hold up belts when someone is injured or suspended and can't defend it, or when a lesser Champion wins a bigger belt.
I've had Antonio Inoki stripped of the World Title when he was injured in the match he won it in. The same thing happened to the Road Warriors on their first Tag Title win.
Race was stripped of or surrendered his US Title when he won the World Title.
I also stripped all Champions of their Titles during my Union walk out storyline. The Wrestlers Union called for a walk out of the company. I then brought in mostly new and lesser cards to restart the fed and got some interesting big matches out of smaller guys.

the only 2 times I can remember anything like this coming up was Killer Kowalski getting hurt while he was the TV champion, I just let him keep the title until he returned.
2nd was Sandman getting suspended while he and Sabu were the tag champions, I let Sabu use a substitute and it actually worked out really good because this is how I introduced the Sheik in my fed, except they lost in their 1st match.
