Last year's trivia contest we did as a tag team tournament, which was both entertaining and saved some time. This year, in the interest of giving even more time to tournaments, I am looking to alter the format yet again. Instead of a bracket, it will be one big event taking place on Sunday, right after the Canada Cup.
The 2 choices you have are similar, but setup will be slightly different.
Battle Royal - Everyone who wants to enter stands up front with a pen and paper. A question is read and contestants are given 30 seconds to answer. at the end of that time everyone reveals their answer. If correct, you continue. If incorrect, you get a strike against you. After 3 strikes you are eliminated. Questions get harder as your proceed. Last man alive is the winner.
Royal Rumble - Same format as battle royal, although you start with 2 people at random. After each question another person is added at random. Last man alive is the winner.
The battle royal is the fairer option, but royal rumble could bring some unpredictability and will be slightly longer. I leave it in your hands to decide.

I'd say Battle Royal. Royal Rumble might take a bit longer. And after all, we need a lot of time to play out all those tournaments, right!?!?

I went with the Battle Royal idea. I just hope someone has to face Tom, Alex & Neal like I had to in '04!

Everyone's too scared to face Joe & I again, eh? Well, Joe, anyway....
Fine, fine, let's do it battle royal style!

I'm thinking that there may need to be a tag team challenge if we have the time. Perhaps the battle royal winner and a partner of his choosing vs. Joe and Matt. That is if Joe and Matt accept.
I'm surprised to see Battle Royal winning, given all the Rumbles on other boards, but glad in the same sense. Perhaps a Rumble will make an appearance down the road.

We ought to have one of those trivia contests where the other team can do weird things to try and throw off the opposing team as they try to concentrate to answer the question. To bad we didn't have a bunch of buzzers or we could run it like a pub trivia competition.

Well as long as I have Joe with me, I accept any challenge!

Well.....as a quiz bowl coach, I have lots of buzzers, so if needed I could hijack them from the school as long as nobody tells on me.

How is the Royal Rumble idea not winning? That idea could only get better if it was WarGames. ;D
