Hendon Hooker and Antoine Green suffered concussions in the game Thursday. Hooker looks to miss the next game, and I am guessing Green will too. Connor Galvin, 3rd string RT, suffered a torn MCL and is done for the season. Beyond depth, Glavin is not a big loss. Hope he heals good and comes back next season for us or someone else. The other two are not a big issue beyond missing game time to show they should get more reps in the regular season. Well reps for Green. Hooker is trying to show he can be the backup. He looked good in limited action Thursday. Only other real issues with injuries is the fact that LaPorta and Zeitler are a bit banged up. Hopefully they are good to go in Week 1.

We are already thin at WR and we go and release Green with an injury. Worse is a hamstring injury to Gibbs. If we can't stay healthy we will not go far this season. Could playoff chances be fading?

I have not got around to playing a bet on JJ McCarthy winning Rookie of the Year. Good thing because he is done for the season due to knee surgery. Hopefully he can heal up and come back with a vengeance next season.

My dad thinks he is funny. He said the Lions are one and done since they haven't scored a TD yet in preseason. My response was, "yea it is like the starters are not even out there. Oh, wait. They aren't".

Shortly after saying that the Lions scored a TD. It is like the opposite of how announcers point out a positive streak and it gets ruined shortly after.

I know fantasy football does not translate into real football but when experts pick teams it is a bit of acknowledgement of how players are expected to be good in the real game. ESPN did a 10-team draft by their experts. Our big 5 were all picked in top 100. Goff was not picked but a few teams only picked one QB so I would place him as around 15-16 on their radar. What was surprising is our K Jake Bates was the 3rd kicker taken. I guess they are betting on his strong leg while being on a top offense. Also, our Def/ST was the 8th off the boards. Imagine that. The Lions D might be a top 10. If they are, or even top 15, with the offense we have we will be a top team again for sure. As always, our biggest roadblock will be injuries. If we stay healthy, we win the division and maybe the conference. If injuries, especially to key guys, add up all bets are off.

Oh boy. Penei Sewell got a rolled ankle in practice. It looks like he avoided a major injury but still not good. I feel like the injuries are starting and we are still in preseason.

Only a preseason win but beats a preseason loss. One good thing was the performance of Hendon Hooker. I feel we have a decent to really good backup QB. I am not worried if Goff has to miss some time during the season. Only issues with Hendon today was his completion % but he did have some drops and his fumbleitus. He needs to take better care of the ball while in his hands. Two fumbles today and lost one. I am not worried about the INT as he threw a catchable ball that went thru the receivers hands. In fact, I wish plays like that went down as a fumble for the receiver instead of an INT but that is just me. The bonus on Hendon is his legs. He almost had 100 yards rushing. As we all know, a QB with legs is all the rage these days. He will be a great QB2 for next few years and then be Goff's replacement when the times comes. As long as we can keep him on the team.

Hendon is officially our back up QB as we cut Sudfeld.
