To all the friends of GWF, particularly those that regularly attend Galacticon. It is with great sadness that I inform you all of the tragic passing of Gary Atkinson. Gary has been an 11 year regualr attendee at Galacticon, was one of the originators of the Filsinger Corporation Bootleg sets, and most notably was the creator of TroyBoy and the Last Knight among a host of other characters. Beyond all that though, and much more importantly, Gary was a father (to Broc and 2 daughters) as well as a pastor, and one of my best friends. He will be greatly missed I'm sure at Galacticon as well as by all his friends and family. Just thought everyone would like to know. SAM

This is truly sad. My 2 G-Con's I attended, I flew into Pittsburgh and stayed with Broc and Gary. I talked regularly with them via phone and IM for years. Gary was a great man. We had a great time at a Pirates game one year. My condolensces go out to them at this time, he will be missed. God truly has a great soul with him now.

The Filsinger Games community has certainly lost a great man. My thoughts are with Broc and the rest of the Atkinsons on an especially tough Father's Day.

GalactiCon won't be the same without Gary's smiling presence. I'd often have conversations in the hallways of both the Sheldon House and JCC about how bad the Pirates were that season (again). We're thinking of all those close to him.

WOW. Tough to hear stuff like that. I never had the opportunity to meet him, but there is no doubt he loved the game and was appreciated by the many fans that knew him. I hate to hear this.

RIP, Gary. Though we didn't know each other well, I enjoyed the few chats we had at the cons over the years.
