I've collected and read these books since the 70s, and have dug up a couple older than that on ebay. The early, mid 90s Marvel really started to put out a lot of books, most were X-Men and Spiderman. DC has been doing better in releasing books than they have in trying to keep up with Marvel in the movie department. DC has done books of its major comic book storylines like Batman Knightfall, Death of Superman, the three Crisis crossovers, and some recent ones like 52 and Countdown which I just bought today. edit - this is a cool page that lists the Marvel novels up to about 5 years or so ago. www.sff.net/people/krad/marvel.htm

because Crossbones was one of my personal favorite Supervillians and he was on the cover and he and Sin are featured throughout the story, I recently picked up the novel Captain America: Red Menace

Is that an actual novel, or a trade paperback of comic book issues? I added a link to my post at the same time you replied so take a look at that.
