So...after a few months away and watching some DG and CHIKARA DVDs, I was inspired to play COTG again. I've come up with a more streamlined approach to match-making and storytelling, so that I shouldn't get burned out on it and it should remain fun. I'm about a year and a half in....but all that will come later. For now:
BEGIN!
Champions as of 1/1/2087
Galaxian Champion: Star Warrior
Galaxian Tag Team Champions: Greek Gods
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Code of Honor 2087 Preview Show
Story A: Krakan's Challenge of Star Warrior
12/29/86 - SuperBash '86
#1 Contenders match: Invincible Krakan vs Lord Nexus
On the last supercard of 2086, Krakan defeated his rival Nexus with a Falling Face Slam to earn the #1 contendership to the Galaxian Championship at Code of Honor.
12/29/86 - SuperBash '86
Galaxian Title match: Star Warrior (c) vs Executioner
In the last Galaxian Title match of 2086 (Polarity's retirement match was the main event, see Story B), Star Warrior defeated Executioner quite easily with the Nova Launch to end a tough year on a high note!
1/4/87 - Non-Title Match
Star Warrior vs Ghengis Khan
Star Warrior had little trouble with tag specialist Khan, easily defeating him with the Nova Launch. After the match, however, Krakan and Mutant came to the ring to attack 3-on-1 until Commander Sam and Omega came out to even the odds.
1/11/87
Invincible Krakan vs Commander Sam
Krakan defeated Sam even quicker than SW beat Khan the week before, and Krakan sent a message to Warrior with a brutal beating after the match to his long-time friend and trainer.
1/25/87
Interview with Star Warrior
With Commander Sam still hurting, and Omega recovering after a brutal match with Wolf the week before (see Story C), Star Warrior appeared alone for his interview. It was interrupted by Krakan and the Society of Death, however, the Greek Gods had SW's back and a 6-man challenge was issued for 2 weeks time!
2/1/87 - Non-Title Match
Star Warrior vs Comrade Terror
A good back and forth match between the two was ruined by Krakan and the SOD. The Greek Gods came out to held SW, and cleared the ring despite being outnumbered 4 to 3!
2/8/87 - 6-man Tag Challenge
Star Warrior and The Greek Gods vs Invincible Krakan and Society of Death
This was an all-out brawl that was only ended by the 15 minute TV time limit. The perfect appetizer for the big title matches to take place the next day at Code of Honor!
CODE OF HONOR-GALAXIAN TITLE MATCH: Star Warrior (c) vs Invincible Krakan
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Story B: Society of Death challenges The Greek Gods
12/29/86 - SuperBash '86
#1 Contenders Match: Neptunian Space-Croppers vs Society of Death:
In a massive upset, The Society of Death defeated the NSC when Mutant pinned Renegade after a Temple Grinder. The crowd were in shock that the team that were in danger of losing their GWF roster positions just a couple of weeks earlier were the new #1 Contenders for the Tag Titles!
12/29/86 - SuperBash '86
Main Event - Galaxian Tag Title and Polarity's Retirement Match: Greek Gods (c) vs Polarity
One last time, the two rival teams hooked up and an hour long classic filled with all the usual moments of action, rule-breaking and pure wrestling were on display. Finally, Sin succumbed to the Grecian Sleeper Grip and that was the end of Polarity's time in the GWF. The teams embraced (yes, even Sin) after the match. The Society of Death jumped the Gods in an attempt to ruin the moment, but (after a brief moment where it looked like Sin was going to join in the attack) Polarity helped clear the ring of the intruders! The last moment of 2086 in the GWF was that of Polarity standing tall in the ring, one last time....
1/18/87
Actagon vs Mutant
After two weeks of the Gods being drained from the emotional night at SuperBash, and the SOD helping out Krakan in his feud with Star Warrior (see Story A), Actagon fired a warning shot at the SOD with a vicious win over Mutant, putting him away with Grecian Sleeper Grip.
1/25/87
Proteus vs Ghengis Khan
This was a hard fought match that went to the TV time-limit, and perhaps more indicative of the type of match to be expected at Code of Honor. Proteus controlled most of the match, but could not quite finish off the tough Khan. Later in the show all hell broke loose involving Star Warrior and Krakan as well and this feud was getting serious.
2/1/87 - Non-Title Match
The Greek Gods vs Vanity & Death Knight
With the SOD looking on at ringside, Proteus made quick work of Death Knight and the Gods had a win against the somewhat mis-matched pair. Despite the high tension in the air, no further physical incident took place between the two teams.
(See Story A for 6-man match on 2/8)
CODE OF HONOR-GALAXIAN TAG TITLE MATCH: The Greek Gods (c) vs Society of Death
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Story C: Wolf vs Massif for the #1 Contendership
1/4/87
Wolf vs Comrade Terror
Wolf defeated Terror in under a minute with a neckbreaker to get his campaign off on the right track.
1/4/87
Massif vs Thantos
Meanwhile, in a possible more impressive win, Massif beat Thantos clean (and in relatively quick fashion) with the Volcanic Drop.
1/11/87
Massif vs Comrade Terror
An inspired Comrade Terror, looking to avenge his embarrassing loss the week before, put up a game effort, but ultimately succumbed to the grinding bear hug of Massif.
1/11/87
Wolf vs Executioner
Wolf continued his dominance with an easy victory over Executioner with a running clothesline.
1/18/87
Wolf vs Omega
In a brutal, brutal match which brought both men to their limits, Wolf was able to finally defeat a game Omega with the Savage Face Claw. Omega was slow to recover, and would have to sit out a few weeks after this match.
1/18/87
Massif vs Executioner
The downward slide of Executioner continued, as he was beaten by countout in short order by the FDF powerhouse!
1/25/87
Massif vs Wolf
In what would be a preview of the match at Code of Honor (though neither knew it at the time), Massif pinned Wolf with the Volcanic Drop. Wolf was angry after the match, but shook Massif's hand after taking a few moments to calm down. After the match, it was announced that Massif would be one of the participants in the #1 Contenders match at Code of Honor.
2/1/87
Wolf vs Thantos
In the match to determine who would face Massif, and inspired Wolf completely took apart Thantos, finishing him with the Savage Face Claw in just under 6 minutes! After the match, Massif came to the ring to stand off with Wolf when....the Evil Royals attacked (perhaps angry about losing their chance at the #1 Tag contendership? See Story D). Massif and Wolf fought them off, but had a tense staredown after.
2/8/87
Massif vs Killer Queen
With Wolf looking on at ringside, Massif put Killer Queen away in just over 9 minutes with a piledriver. Wolf, who would take on the other half of the Royals in Exo-King later on, promised to beat that time.
2/8/87 - 9 minute challenge
Wolf vs Exo-King
Now it was Massif's turn to watch, and sure enough, Wolf slapped on the Savage Face Claw at the 8-minute mark to submit Exo-King and "win" the challenge. Massif looked impressed at ringside and politely applauded, while Wolf had a feral look on his face in the ring.
CODE OF HONOR-#1 CONTENDERS MATCH: Wolf vs Massif
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Story D: Tag Team Chaos
1/4/87
Evil Royals vs Neptunian Space-Croppers
The Evil Royals won the first match of 2087 when Killer Queen pinned Beast-Rider after a cross-body block.
1/11/87
Gladiators of Aethra vs Flying Titans
The Gladiators easily defeated the Flying Titans, Massacre pinning Pulsar after the Massacre Slam.
1/18/87
Evil Royals vs Flying Titans
The Titans scored their first win in the GWF with a shocking upset! Recent MCW (Mars Championship Wrestling) graduate Pulsar beating Killer Queen with the Whirlwind. And so the chaos begins...
1/25/87
Gladiators of Aethra vs Neptunian Space-Croppers
In what could be considered another upset, the Gladiators were never quite able to put NSC away, and indeed, as the bell rang to signal the time limit, Renegade was about to hit Massacre with the Spinecracker!
2/1/87
Gladiators of Aethra vs Evil Royals
The slump for the Royals continued, as Brute pinned Queen with the Decapitator with only 9 seconds left in the time limit! With the win, the Gladiators would face the winners of next weeks NSC-Flying Titans match for the #1 contendership!
2/8/87
Flying Titans vs Neptunian Space-Croppers
Well, I guess the Gladiators aren't very patient! They jumped both teams early on in the match causing a double DQ and no winner to face them at Code of Honor! The Gladiators declared themselves the new #1 contenders and demanded to be put in the tag title match against the Gods and the SOD. Instead, it was ruled that the Titans and NSC would face off before the "official" start of Code of Honor (with the Gladiators barred from the arena during the match, by penalty of suspension), with the winner to face the Gladiators later on in the night
