Yeah, the biggest issue was the lack of time to build... this was a perfect example of how the WWE has too many PPVs... the whole Cena-Punk angle would have been PERFECT for Night of Champions.
Given another 4 weeks, they could have built a nice Rhodes-Jackson angle, and tossed in a good tag team title match.

Why am I seeing movie previews and 7-11 commercials. I can see those on Smackdown or RAW. Why was there no Cody Rhodes, Ted Dibiase, Dolph Ziggler, Alex Riley, the tag champs? This is my beef right here. Has been for a long time and will continue to be until it changes. I don't give a shit about C-Lo Brown. You know why? Cause I'm not a 15 year old girl. Why is this dude is on a PPV where the majority of the audience is 18-34 year old males? And the commercials...when did it become ok to show tons of commercials on a PPV? They had time for a US Title Match and an IC Title Match or Tag Title match. It's a damn crime that Cody Rhodes wins the I-C Title on Friday in a taped match, so they have room for this garbage on a PPV. Super frustrating. Even though I thought Sheamus vs. Mark Henry was an above average big man match, I really hated the 1st half of the show. The Clo Brown stuff really brought it down several notches for me. I actually felt real anger building up during that crap. I hated the bs thrown together six man. No reason for it at all other than to just get those guys on the card. Poor effort. Stupid six man where the result doesn't mean a damn thing. If the idea is to get those 6 guys on the card why not a Battle Royal? The woman's match was terrible too. I don't expect much from the women wrestlers in the WWE so this isn't a huge deal, but since I'm already bitching up a storm...approx 104 times a year they trot these women out on Monday's and Friday's for 3 minutes and they do nothing. Then they stick two of them on PPV's and expect them to go out there for ten minutes or more expect them to put on a match WORTH PAYING TO SEE (I keep going back to this because I wonder sometimes if WWE understands the difference between what is worth paying for and what is not). Kelly Kelly cannot wrestle. I know that's not breaking news, but when you ask her to go out there for ten minutes it starts to get uncomfortable. I feel for athletes like Beth Phoenix who are asked to work with the Kelly Kelly's of the business. Kelly Kelly does so much stopping and starting in a match it looks like damn practice. Zero fluidity. With all the bad stuff out of the way, onto the good stuff - everything AFTER the Diva's match was 5 stars. Barrett vs. Daniel Bryan is EXACTLY the kind of match you want in the middle of the card. Perfect. This is the match where the I-C Title should have been on the line. Instead Wade lost it to Zeke who lost it to Cody. Should have kept it and had a program with DB all summer, culminating here. Anyways, I love that Barrett went over. Really refreshed his character and has me wondering if they are building a long rivalry here that could lead to a match at Mania between the two for the belt. Unlikely, but possible. Loved it. Props to both guys for putting their bodies through hell in this match. Barrett especially took a real beating from my boy D Bryan. And D Bryan looks MOTIVATED as hell out there. This MITB thing really has him on his A game. For awhile there he looked a little lost in the WWE. Not anymore. Now he looks like a guy ready for stardom, completely comfortable in his role and environment. A lot of that has to do with WWE letting him be himself, which they weren't totally doing at first. Orton vs. Christian was another amazing match 4-5 stars. I see Orton and I see a guy really taking that "next step" in his career. He gets better in the ring, he's fully capable of putting on 4/5 star matches regularly, he keep incorporating new moves, he's getting bigger, faster etc...guy is totally awesome. Orton looks like he truly cares about the business on a very passionate level. He puts his body on the line as much as anyone (and more than a lot of guys). Total bad ass. Main Event - can't say I was "let down" but I knew this wouldn't/couldn't follow that amazing MOTY at MITB, and it didn't. Pretty stupid that Cena lost with his foot on the ropes. Really hate this. The whole point of HHH being the ref was to avoid any BS ending and then dude misses a simple foot on the ropes (something real refs almost never miss, and if they do they quickly remedy the situation, but not HHH). Bad writing (UNLESS it comes out tonight that HHH's real goal was to get the belt on ADR regardless of who won between Punk and Cena - as in he saw the foot but ignored it). The match was strong but lacked the drama their MITB had. I was def caught off guard by the ending. Not just Nash but by ADR also. So they got me there. I thought the show was going to end with Punk as champ. Kind of interesting that Punk beat ADR clean (and easily) last Monday on RAW. Did HHH set up Punk and Cena? Is he in on it with Nash? Or is Nash ADR's new bodyguard? or both? Imagine that super group. HHH, Nash, Steph, ADR and ADR's sidekick. Could work. So overall, tale of two shows for me. First half D (only thing that saves it from an F is Henry vs. Sheamus). Second half A+. When the WWE wants to, they give fans the best wrestling on the planet. Overall I give it a B/B - since the second half of the show saved the first, but that doesn't make all that stuff ok. RAW should be pretty exciting tonight.

I just watched the main event (gotta love telly tv) and I kind of like the old school feel the two had at the start. The "wear down holds" if you will Or level one offense for us GWFers. heh.
Although the match wasnt as good as MITB; it was still a solid match. It was different and told a great story. John Cena threw a helluva dropkick. Who knew?
Kevin Nash put on some weight. Is that what happens after you quit coke? Rob, that supergroup you mentioned, imo would need one more wrestler or even a tag team.
BTW, if you watch the replay or get a chance to see it again; HHH clearly looks at Cenas foot on the rope.

I for one am already bored with the entire MITB concept. I think on an earlier thread about half the posters predicted ADR to cash in the MITB after Punk beat Cena. Edge cashing in the first MITB contract on Cena was unexpected, new and because of that, it worked. It's lost its surprise element and become almost as overused and abused as the GM/CEO As Heel angle.

That said I find myself agreeing with you concerning the title shot clause itself, or more to be more accurate, the way it's implemented. Getting a title shot for being in the match is all well and good but the surprise angle should be scrapped entirely as it's stupid. After all, letting the MITB winner challenge for the title at any PPV he wants actually allows WWE to build to the event and thus sell tickets.

1st let me say c-Lo is supposed to cater to a middle age black audience (me) but the song promoted is not, so Idk what they were doing there.
I felt they botched this ppv. R-truth and Morrison had been built up, let's leave it off the card. Miz and mysterio have beef, leave it off the card. Alex riley just beat dolph ziggler leave it off the card! I've been Watchin WWE for 2 months now maybe 3 and I still can't tell if he can work a match or not cause he never in anything but short matches. Smdh
I liked barrett-daniels, I thought daniels would win. I knew orton & Christian wouldn't diswappoint and the main event was slow. They saved a ton of energy for what? Good match not great, can we stop the whole every kicks out of finishers? It was cool when they first started now it happens every match.
I liked the ending but hate the whole money in the bank concept. Anytime huh? So beating 6 men is easier than winning the royal rumble huh? It cheapens the title too because u covered a beat man. Can I win the WWE title while the champ is sleep? Can I just burst n his house like the kool-aid man, wit my referee & pin him?
Again I did like the end cause I wonder where they are goin with it but is it just me or does the world heavyweight title seem like the new ic belt and the us & ic belt feel like the tv & European titles? It's like those belts r after thoughts or put on ppl when they first show up. It used to be a major accomplishment to win the ic title,
Last I agree WWE has too many ppvs but they're making money guess that's all that matters
