I hate Jim Ross

There, I said it. I hate Jim Ross and I think he's an overrated pile. Nothing makes me lose respect for people more than when they take to "social media" outlets to complain about personal issues. I see this as the ultimate sign of weakness. I think grown people regularly using social media is a sign of weakness anyways, but when you use it to bitch and complain about people or things in your PERSONAL/PRIVATE life, I don't think there is a lower point you can reach as a human being. And Jim Ross is the frigging KING of taking his sob stories to the public with Twitter/facebook etc. He does it all the time. Before coming back to RAW, all the guy ever did was complain about not having a job in the WWE. Now that he's back, he's doing it again. Look at these "tweets" regarding Summerslam.

Game time decision to use Booker to rep Smackdown on tonight's Summer Slam & to work with King & Cole. I'm happy for Booker.

Am I the only one who sees this crap? IT'S NO ONES BUSINESS THAT YOU WERE NOT BOOKED ON THE SHOW. That's private, WWE backstage business. NOTHING the public needs to know. God damn this pisses me off. This jerk wants SYMPATHY. And I don't have any for him. JR is old. He's washed up. He needs to retire. Just like wrestlers need to go when they get old so do the announcers. DEAL WITH IT. It drives me nuts that JR is using his social media outlets to 1) spread private backstage information and 2) BEG FOR SYMPATHY (which is exactly what he is doing).

And then he has the gaul to add "but I'm happy for Booker." Really? cause you don't sound happy for Booker. You sound like a jaded ex lover. And if he really was "just happy to be here" then he wouldn't tweet at all. He'd really just be "happy to be (there)". But he wasn't. He was UNHAPPY to be where he was, which is why he felt the need to bring it up in the first place. For God's sake, show some self-awareness JR.

Anyone else see this? JR has well crossed into Foley, Flair, and Hogan territory. Once you were the man. Now you suck. GO AWAY and stop acting like your entitled to a job and a spot on the card.

I'd seriously fire the guy over this. What is decided backstage is backstage business, not public info. It's not his job to inform the public of private business decisions. If the WWE wants to break kayfabe and tell it's fans that JR was passed over for Booker T at SS then let THEM announce it.

Giant, stupid, selfish washed up baby. That's my opinion of JR. May not be a popular one but I stand by it. I hate people like him, and I don't care if he was the best announcer ever at one point. He's a joke now. He isn't even good anymore when they do use him.

I agree that whining on Twitter/Facebook etc is bush league... and I also agree that bringing back stage stuff out in public is a BIG problem in today's wrestling.

That's an issue he should take up with whoever at WWE is in charge... all posting it does it try to garner sympathy to create a 'public outcry' to get the company to do what he wants.
If he was good enough to warrant it, that's one thing... trying to artifically generate public outcry is really lame.


I disagree about the JR's commentating, though...I'd call him 'classic'. I like him calling the a match alot more that Cole or Booker T(who's terrible, IMO). I wouldn't mind them moving forward and finding someone new, but Booker's not it... he's just as bad as Taz. You'd think a former wrestler would know the names of a few moves.

JBL was good... as was Matt Striker... even Joey Styles is still kicking around.
Heck, I've even take Don West over Booker, to be honest.

Cole I think they blew... big time He could have been a cool heel announcer, or, better yet, a cool heel manager. He needed to either leave the booth and manage the Miz, or be the anomyous GM. Now, he just annoys me.

Having heard William Regal commentate on NXT Redemption, I'd say he'd make an excellent replacement for JR when the time comes.

Speaking of which, I wonder how they are going to finally end the anonymous GM story? I thought they just ended it without addressing it until I saw the podium with the computer on the floor at Summerslam last night and yet it was apparently there for no reason.

There are way too many professional athletes and wrestlers who write way more whiny tweets that I can hardly bother to get worked up about Jim Ross' tweet. I see nothing damaging about that JR tweet, unlike Diana Hart Smith's series of tweets about her son being fired that had to get DH Smith to apologize for on his facebook page.

And it's not like Jim Ross is pulling a Matt Hardy or Val Venis...

Ross and King aren't what they were 10 years ago. but at least Ross calls the match. It's actually gotten to the point that i'm turning the volume down because of Cole.
Like i use to do when Bischoff was giving away RAW results.

I see your point about Ross being over the hill…good announcers get old and start to lose their edge and you can't listen to them anymore…and Ross is old. I also agree that there’s probably a ‘backstage’/’internal’ business ethics code for decisions like this that Ross is, in all likelihood, straddling here. He’s also clearly fishing for a little sympathy here…be it other people telling him it sucks that he’s not announcing, or that’s he’s great. I agree with all that. And I also agree that grown adults and social media are an awkward mix…but I’ll defend Ross in the sense that he’s an old man with a new toy (twitter/social media) and like many, many people on this planet, he hasn’t picked up on, or isn’t in tune with, the unspoken, unwritten and still changing social rules governing this phenomenon. People saying stupid, personal, damaging stuff on facebook, on a blog, or on twitter is par for the course in this age…and you’d think people would think twice about signing up for these things or posting something…but when there’s an appetite for it (how many followers does a guy like Ross have anyway?) and you’re already an entertainer, it can become an unconscious arm of your persona that can get you in trouble from time to time because you almost feel like its your job to keep people informed. There’s a small chance that Ross was just letting his many fans who would be wondering why he wasn’t doing the PPV know why…and I’m sure he has lots of fans still.

I’m sure your more right than wrong here Rob…Ross really should hang em up save for the odd special appearance…and is using his platform to garner support/sympathy…but I don’t think Ross is as savy and as malicious as your implying…maybe he is…but I think there’s a gray area here.

As for my thoughts on twitter, facebook and the like…its all garbage.

I agree there are worse offenders out there, it's just that Jim Ross has been doing this for a long time and I finally just had to post about it. I'm so tired of him. He's one of those guys who claims to be a full supporter of the business, and one of it's biggest fans, yet he regularly takes opportunities to slam the product, mostly when it involves the WWE deciding not to use his services. He made a huge stink about not calling Mania (I guess two years ago? Maybe it was this year, I forget) and really went over the top with it. He made some comment about how the WWE Universe wanted him there, WWE was ignoring their fans and that it was somehow bad for business. I don't think you can be a bigger slime than to call yourself a "fan and supporter" of something than try to smear them in public. And imo, that is what he is doing here with his stupid SS tweets.

All I got to say is right hands right hands right hands. I agree with what was already said. I didn't even know JR'S situation til now & it comes off real chump-ish to me. Booker T is terrible & makes us all black ppl look bad by never knowing what he's talking about & misprouncing words. I miss the days of Jessie Ventura & anybody. He's the best colorman ever
