At the 2011 Battle of Los Angeles, El Generico became the first man in history to achieve every imaginable goal in Pro Wrestling Guerrilla. He has held the World Championship and the World Tag Team Championship on multiple occasions, and even held them simultaneously. Twice. He has won the DDT4 Tag Team Tournament, and now after defeating arch-enemy "Mr. Wrestling" Kevin Steen in a grueling tournament final, El Generico has won the 2011 Battle of Los Angeles.

Along with the honor and accolades that come with winning such a prestigious tournament, El Generico also claims the winners purse, which he has already signed over to Los Angelitos de El Generico, the orphanage that he sponsors, as well as his choice of any match in Pro Wrestling Guerrilla. With Davey Richards already next in line for a shot at the World Championship title, El Generico laid out an open challenge for The Perils Of Rock N' Roll Decadence, which is one less match for the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla Board of Directors to make! Pro Wrestling Guerrilla World Championship Title Match
"Mr. Wrestling" Kevin Steen (Champion) vs. Davey Richards (Challenger)

Only a handful of men have ever lost the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla World Championship without ever being defeated inside the ring, and Davey Richards happens to be one of them. After vacating the World Championship in late 2010, Davey Richards was set to challenge then-champion Claudio Castagnoli at EIGHT this past July, however a serious staph infection forced Davey off of the show. Now that he is completely healthy, Richards still has his eyes fixed on the World Championship Title, despite the fact that it has a new owner, one "Mr. Wrestling" Kevin Steen. On September 10 at The Perils Of Rock N' Roll Decadence, Davey Richards will finally get his chance to reclaim the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla World Championship title. However, Kevin Steen has no intention of ending his second reign as Champion without a single successful title defense.

Pro Wrestling Guerrilla World Tag Team Championship Title Match
The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) vs. The Dynasty (Joey Ryan & Scorpio Sky)

-- As the self-styled "Greatest Tag Team in the World," Matt and Nick Jackson have done much to live up to that lofty monicker. Having defeated the Kings of Wrestling (Claudio Castagnoli & Chris Hero), Austin Aries & Roderick Strong, and the RockNES Monsters (Johnny Goodtime & Johnny Yuma) in recent months, The Young Bucks plan on exceeding the dominance exhibited in their first reign as World Tag Team Champions from late 2008 to early 2010. Hoping to unseat the Bucks are Joey Ryan and Scorpio Sky, two men who have separately held the World Tag Team titles who are now looking to start new reign as champions together. One distinct advantage that The Dynasty has over The Young Bucks' previous opponents is that both Joey and Sky served as trainers for the Jacksons in the early stages of their careers. That inside knowledge may allow The Dynasty to identify and exploit long-standing weaknesses in the Bucks' gameplan. It may not sound like much, but no advantage is too small when facing the "Greatest Tag Team in the World."

El Generico vs. Rocky "Azúcar" Romero

-- As mentioned before, after defeating sometime partner, longtime rival Kevin Steen to win the 2011 Battle of Los Angeles, El Generico won the option of requesting any match from the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla Board of Directors. However, because Davey Richards' already had a claim to challenge for the World Championship, El Generico offered to take on anyone that wished to challenge the generic luchador. Up stepped an opponent looking to get back in the mix of the World Championship title picture, Rocky "Azúcar" Romero. A victory over El Generico would instantly catapult Romero to the top of the contenders list, and with El Generico only having a few weeks to recover from the 2011 Battle of Los Angeles, September 10 could be the start of something big for Rocky Romero.

I think this looks like a great card! How often can you see the PWG World Champion (Kevin Steen) wrestle the ROH World Champion (Davey Richards?!)

One thing that is not surprising but nevertheless notable is the absence of either member of KOW from this lineup as it continues to appear an official announcement of their signing with the WWE is indeed imminent.

I have a front row ticket to this show and I think I am going to go.

If so, this will be the first time I have ever seen the Super Smash Brothers wrestle live and I am looking forward to their match against the RockNES Monsters.

Although I have seen TJ Perkins wrestle live twice before (both times were last January when I saw him at a Lucha Las Vegas show at the Rio and then with Cman at the ROH show at Wrestle Reunion 5 where he wrestled against Davey Richards,) this will be the first time I have seen Perkins wrestle at PWG (where he used to be a regular.) I think TJ Perkins vs Eddie Edwards will be a great match.

I am predicting El Generico will defeat Rocky Romero, the Young Bucks will retain over the Dynasty, and that Kevin Steen will retain over Davey Richards (I think even if Richards had made it to Eight for that triple threat title match against both Chris Hero and Claudio Castagnoli that Steen still would have been the one walking away with the PWG World Championship anyway.)

Edit: At first I was not sure if I could go, but a fundraiser I was going to do for the club I advise at school got postponed to another Saturday (I think later this month) and today was payday (the 10th and I got some bonus money. So, since I now also have my truck running good after getting some necessary work done, I am going to go back to PWG again tonight.

I just got back to Las Vegas from PWG tonight. Although I was not sure if I was going or not until yesterday, I am really glad I was able to make it.

Tonight I sat in the front row next to Captain Comic Con. He is a guy who dresses up in a silver and black mask with a cowboy hat and a suit and he also wears a title belt with the San Diego Comic Con logo in the center. Captain Comic Con drank I think two pitchers of beer tonight but he was a really cool guy who knows his wrestling and I enjoyed talking to him throughout the show. if Captain Comic Con returns the next time I go to PWG (hopefully the October 22nd show,) I will definitely say hi to him again.

At the start of the show, Excalibur once again warned people to stop tailgating in the Legion Hall's parking lot because the Legion Hall is worried it might lose its liquor license. Excalibur said Legion Larry told him the next person Legion Larry catches drinking in the parking lot before the show will be banned from the Legion Hall and then the next time after that when Legion Larry catches someone drinking in the parking lot then PWG will be banned from the Legion Hall. For some reason, this dumb chick sitting 3 seats to my right (there was a guy wearing a Super Dragon mask and a guy wearing an El Generico mask sitting between us as Captain Comic Con was sitting on my left) started clapping and I shot her a dirty look because I don't want PWG to get kicked out of the Legion Hall.

If that happens, I will follow PWG wherever they decide to run their shows in California but hopefully the fans will follow Excalibur's instructions and simply stop drinking in the parking lot before the shows and instead, as Excalibur told them, go across the street and drink in the CVS parking lot before the shows.

The first two matches were straight out of NWA Hollywood as Brian Cage-Taylor (who has really improved alot recently IMO) defeated Pretty Peter Avalon and Willie Mack defeated Ryan Taylor in one of Taylor's best PWG matches IMO.

The next match had a Nintendo theme as the RockNES Monsters defeated the Super Smash Brothers. This was the first time I ever saw the Super Smash Brothers and I was really impressed. During intermission Player Dos was hawking the SSB shirt by standing on some chairs 2 rows behind me and Legion Larry came over to yell at him to get off his chairs. Hopefully the Super Smash Brothers will return to PWG.

The final match before intermission was Eddie Edwards defeating T.J. Perkins who was wrestling in PWG (where he used to be a regular before moving back East) for the first time in over 2 years.
I believe I read this was the first ever match between Edwards and TJP and it was a great match with Edwards getting the pin with a sudden rollup of TJP.

After intermission, El Generico defeated Rocky Romero in perhaps the MOTN. At one point, the action spilled out of the ring near me and Romero grabbed the cowboy hat off of the head of Captain Comic Con and wore it on the ring apron as he was about to reenter the ring. But instead of wrestling again while wearing the cowboy hat of Captain Comic Con, Romero instead threw it back toward Captain Comic Con. El Generico won with his BRAINBUSTAHH! which led to about 20-25 of the front row fans tapping the ring apron in excitement. As the referee made the 3 count, I also made the 3 count on the apron because I knew the match was over and because you are allowed to tap the ring apron during matches in PWG.

In the next match, the Young Bucks retained the PWG World Tag Team Championship over the Dynasty (Joey Ryan and Scorpio Sky.) This was the tag title match originally planned for Eight but it had to be switched due to both Low Ki (who is no longer listed on PWG's roster) and Davey Richards having to miss Eight. Another good PWG tag match with the Bucks winning via MORE BANG FOR YOUR BUCK on Scorpio Sky.

Afterward, the Bucks continued to attack the Dynasty some more until their enemy PWG World Champion Kevin Steen made the save. Steen then said it was time for "Jim Cornette's wet dream" (Davey Richards) to come out for their main event title match.

Steen/Richards was good but unfortunately there were a couple of fans saying really stupid things (such as trying to start a "Where's Chris Hero?" chant : during this match. At the Legion Hall, fans buy beer in pitchers which sometimes helps make the show more lively but also sometimes leads people to shouting stupid things- one of those fans tonight bringing some unwanted attention to himself I noticed had multiple pitchers of beer tonight and sometimes some of the fans saying dumb things are seen walking around the Legion Hall earlier in the show with a pitcher of beer in each hand.) This led to the crowd responding to those fans with a "Shut the F up" chants.

at one point Steen got so annoyed with what one of those fans were saying to him he pointed to the door and said "there's the front door" indicating he wanted the fan to leave and this led the crowd to chants of "there's the front door, there's the front door, there's the front door" also hoping the guy would get the clue and depart- but unfortunately he stayed and kept saying stupid things to Steen.

The match ended when Steen gave Richards a PACKAGE PILEDRIVER on the apron and then choked Richards out with a crossface. Afterward the Young Bucks attacked Steen who was saved by- El Generico!

El Generico and Steen then came face to face and El Generico indicated he wanted a shot at Steen's title as he earned a title shot by winning the 2011 Battle of Los Angeles last month. Steen agreed but added the stipulation (a fan shouted out for Guerrilla Warfare but Steen said he has already done that one before) that they would have match the two of them had never had before against each other because ROH "did not have the balls to have this match" (Steen's words) - a ladder match with the PWG World Championship hanging above the ring. Steen then gave El Generico an unexpected low blow.

This ladder match for the PWG World Championship between El Generico and Kevin Steen takes place next month at Steen Wolf on October 22nd- the same day as Galactical takes place earlier that day about 10 miles away in Burbank! Although I have a school Key Club function that day, it appears there is a good chance I am going to be able to get someone to cover me so I can attend both Galactical and PWG's Steen Wolf on October 22nd!

At the merchandise table I bought the DVD for Eight (the first PWG DVD to be sold in the digipak format) and I said hi to Davey Richards who was there selling his new shirt. I also got to talk to Eddie Edwards again after the show.

Now I am going to get some sleep for a few hours. I had something I have to do in Las Vegas this afternoon, so I made the drive back to town right after the show. Looking forward to hopefully going to Steen Wolf next month with Tom, Toasterboy, and some other Galactical attendees!

I don't think I saw him, but Alex Koslov (Peter Orlov in the WWE's FCW) was reportedly in attendance for this show on Saturday night. Koslov (who is from California,) got to see his former partner and rival Rocky Romero wrestle against El Generico.
