I watched TNA last night and I am NOT pleased.
On one of the last segments of the night they brought out IMPOSTERS of Ric Flair, Sting, and Hulk Hogan! I was a big fan of all three of those guys when I was a kid, and I can tell you that those were NOT THEM. It's not even possible. Those were old guys doing very bad impersonations of Flair, Sting, and Hogan. I think they got them from some drunken teachers' back to school party of something, because that guy playing Sting was doing the weirdest, most nonsense facial expressions and hamming it up in the worst way.
And that red-faced Flair wanna-be? I was afraid he was going to break a hip when he started dropping elbows on the invisible man.
Was the Hogan imposter wearing fake hair?
Seriously though guys, last night may have finally been the breaking point for me. That segment was embarrassing and it made me feel bad just to watch. It was like all three of them just lost the magic at once. They weren't even playing off each other like they'd worked together before; like three guys going through the motions. Hogan at least seemed to keep his mouth shut at the right times (although when he did talk it wasn't pretty either), but Sting and Flair looked SO horrible you'd never know how great they both were at one point. It really did seem like middle-aged men doing cheap impersonations.
Other than that, there were a couple of nice matches from guys who are criminally underpaid and underexposed mixed in with the random silliness that gets all the attention.
It did kind of have that WCW 2000 feel in that regard. That's not a good nostalgia feeling to have.
