Ferrets are illegal in CA because they find a way to make basically everything illegal in CA. Except for Medical Marijuana.

Don't have first hand knowledge but I'm pretty sure the ferret would have noe problem with your cat but the cat would try to kill it. Oh, perhaps I better not get one then as I have a cat who truly can be really ferocious (I think because her previous owner was a jerk who abandoned her on the street when she was a kitten.) She is a great cat and is cool with me but, for example, whenever she has to go to the vet for shots or a periodic checkup they really have to call in most of the staff to hold her down just so they can examine her. ;D Even then the vet usually gets scratched. Ferrets really seem like fun animals to own, but I just was not sure how well they interacted with other types of pets and how well other types of pets interacted with them. That sounds exactly liek my older cat. She can be really nasty if she doesn't like you. Even picks on her little "sister" at times although that role is changing. I've never owned a ferret, but friends of mine did. The ferrets really didn't interact too much with the ohter animals (cats) but that was mostly because they stayed in their cages and kept themselves entertained in there.
