As they just said on RAW, the WWE Network is finally coming in 2012!

I am envisioning a channel that plays Tuesday Night Titans with Vince and Lord Alfred, Prime Time Wrestling highlights, those old VHS releases like The Wrestling Classic and "Bloopers, Bleeps, and Body Slams" in their entirety, AWA, Smoky Mountain, WCW Monday Nitro, classic MSG and Boston Garden shows from the 70s and 80s, and everything from their MASSIVE library of tremendous classics right up to the current time.
Of course, I've been let down by my own inflated expectations before......
But I'm intrigued.

That is what I am thinking/hoping too. Basically what the WWE has now on its Classics on Demand but perhaps along with some original programming too to make it somewhat similar to what the NFL, NBA, and MLB etc have with their channels?

Talk of a WWE Network during conference calls have been years in the making. In addition to rotating old material from the the library, I suspect they'll showcase current brand building shows that are on the margins. NXT & Superstars tend to be hard sells to the cable networks because the ratings tend to draw near even with less costly non-first run shows yet draw lower ad dollars due to negative stigmas attached to the wrestling audience. If Vince can pocket those same dollars in full sans a middle man while drawing the same ratings/sponsors, those shows would continue to be well worth producing. Spotlighting young talent in FCW and in reality venues like Tough Enough will also be attractive time fillers that serve a creative purpose.
I hope Vince will produce more behind the scenes/conceptual shows like the Legends Roundtable and shoot style interviews. There's a lot of dimension that can be explored given the size and scope of wrestling history WWE owns, and the quality of people from with-in the industry they can draw from is second to none. One red flag to be wary of is a focus on non-wrestling content (which was planned to be a major component of past network launches). The costs on that can be high, and the success ratio low. I'd prefer that cross branding/non-wrestling entertainment stuff be kept to a minimum.

I am very intrigued. I would watch mostly for the classic content, but it will be a good place for shows like Superstars and NXT. Plus I expect there to be a Raw "pre-game" show on Monday nights and something similar before PPVs.
Just a matter of what tier of cable this is put on will determine what audience it will get.

I'm hoping they'll show past years worth of Raw's, Smackdowns and other footage they own. Plus, you know they'll be playing the WWE Films they have and I'm sure they might have Original concepts not Wrestling related too, it's no longer just about the Wrestling with the WWE...

This probably won't happen, but it would be awesome if Vince sold TV time slots to other promotions. Like Chikara, NWA Hollywood or others.

an update I read tonight:
- A new WWE survey on the upcoming WWE Network asks fans interest in WWE possibly moving their monthly pay-per-views to the network as "monthly specials."The proposed option reads like this:
"This network would include all of WWE's monthly pay-per-view events to the lineup at no additional cost. Rather than having to pay for them, they would now be monthly specials with the same match quality you’re used to seeing on pay-per-view for no additional cost. These events would only be on The WWE Network."
The following other options were listed in the survey as possible programming:
* Classic footage of older promotions like WCW, NWA, ECW and the AWA.
* New non-wrestling shows.
* Documentaries.
* WWE talents hosting their favorite movies.
* Repeats of RAW and SmackDown.
* New weekly live in-ring shows.
* Daily in-studio interactive shows similar to news programs or SportsCenter.
* Interactive call-in shows hosted by WWE talents.
* Reality show with former WWE stars living in a house.
