RAW 9-19-11

I thought RAW was pretty good last night. It wasn't bad.

At least Miz and Truth are getting involved in the Main Event storyline.

I really do hate how the threat of being fired gets thrown around so much in the WWE. Vince played this angle out a long, long time ago now HHH is doing the same exact thing. It really makes no sense at all when you look at how this story began with HHH stepping in when Vince wanted to fire Cena, and HHH re-hiring Punk because he apparently knows "what's good for business." It's like Vince was the crazy old man who put his ego before the business and HHH needed to stop him. Now HHH is doing the same exact thing, threatening to fire Punk, firing Nash, and now Miz and Truth. What makes it worse is that HHH fired Miz and Truth for no other reason than they interfered in his match (which he still won, of course). It sounds even dumber when I type it out. Maybe this is part of the story and Vince will come back and say HHH is just like him. I don't know. Point is the fed was rocking with Punk-Cena feuding now the focus is back on HHH. At least we get Punk vs. Cena vs. ADR at HIAC. Actually, I'll be surprised if HHH is not added to that match next week on RAW.

I am intrigued by a Lauranitis group. I like him a lot as a character. He's an authority figure but not the same old same old.

Sheamus looked super strong but I'm not interested in a feud between him and Christian.

What else...Mark Henry stuff is great. Prob my favorite stuff on the show. I hope he really does hold the belt for a really long time.

They need to get rid of JR and the King. Their both finished. What was worse, JR saying "WWF" or shit head Lawler mocking Punk in the opening segment? Hey Jerry you stupid pedo - HE'S A FACE.

Sin Cara vs. Sin Cara was very cool.

What was with Dolph Ziggler shooting on Miz while going back and forth with Wolverine? He's done that kind of thing before. I don't get it or like it.

Entertaining show sandwiched in between HHH looking mean and angry to both open and close the show, but I'm still very disappointed with how far the Punk push has fallen. I feel like he should still be the champ right now. No reason at all to rush ADR like they did. Waste of a title reign. I guess this is all leading up to Survivor Series. Looks like it will indeed be HHH and Punk on same team. Uhg.

I thought it was pretty good. Looks like Punk's edginess is slowly fading. The crowd once again was a distraction . Punk mentions he's had bad luck in the building and the people take that as an insult. Henry comes out to speak and the yell what for 5 minutes. It's not hard to see why this country is in trouble when you consider people will pay money to go to arena to hear themselves yell what.
The Henry squash of JR and King was coming from a mile away and tired as hell. Oh goodie, that'll leave Cole on the mic. Between Cole's nonsense and the what chants RAW is getting to be better with the sound off.
Anyone notice Kelly kicking Beth in the breast?! It's too bad the only people who don't know Kelly going over Beth and Natalya is nonsense are the bookers.
I hope Henry beats Orton again, and then faces Sheamus.
I agree HHH is getting too involved. They could do some interesting things with a Lauranitis-vs. HHH group or feud, but i don't know.

It's ALWAYS good to see one of the most overrated guys ever - "The paper King" Jerry Lawler get his ass kicked. It's even better when it's legit. I guess that's karma. With that said, I agree getting the Paper King involved in story lines is beyond played out. How many guys need to kick this pedo's ass before WWE realizes no one gets over pounding on a dirty old man? Just give Lawler some backstage job or something. Or just get rid of him. He's useless.

I want to shoot Stone Cold in the face with a bazooka for starting the What Chant. Any grown adult who goes to an arena just so they can yell "WHAT!" at wrestlers should not be allowed to reproduce.

Dear audience. The show is not about you! You wanna be on tv that bad? Make a reality show about yourself that only other idiots like yourself will care about.

While I do agree that having a heel pick on JR, then having Lawler 'rescue' him is WAY overdone, I don't think it's always bad.

The angle with the Miz they did a while back was excellent. I think it really did a good job solidifying him as a top heel. The ensuing 'feud' with Cole when one about 50 years too long and had a crappy ending, but the main part with the Miz was really entertaining. They made Lawler seem like a legit 'superstar' during it, and he looked good in the ring.


On the flip side, it was ridiculous how that used him to bury Otunga and Hennig... it's like future endeavoring them wouldn't be good enough, instead the have to be embarassed by losing to make shift tag team, where Lawler sorta just hung on the apron and played cheerleader while his partner took apart two guys..just coming in briefly for his strap down/five moves of doom spot.

As far as announcing goes, I find him passable, but not great. Better than most of the rest the WWE has to offer. Though i certainly wouldn't mind if he was replaced with Matt Striker.

I totally agree with both of these points. Miz made Lawler look like a million bucks. He was the hottest heel in the fed at the time. They should have left it at that. It was special. Now they're trying to recreate it every 3 weeks with someone else. The Cole feud went 2 PPV's too long and delivered a 0% return. How you spend that much time on a feud that gets no one over, advancing no one forward, is mind boggling. They literally plucked 3 guys (Lawler, Cole, Swagger) away from their current positions, gave them new characters for 8 weeks, then returned them to exactly where they were when it started.

I also do not understand the Otunga/Hennig thing. I liked them as champions a lot. Was this some kind of back stage political thing? A horrible vehicle to try and get Zack Ryder a win? I don't know. But a vet like Lawler should be standing up for young talent like this and trying to get guys over not burying them. I suppose Lawler is just like Hogan, Flair, Sting, Nash, HHH etc...when push comes to shove he craves the spotlight as much as any of these ego maniacs, caring less about getting anyone over but himself. Just look at the beatings he's willing to take in order to be a focus of the show. Desperate times I guess.

I've always wondered about that with Lawler. He still does Memphis indy dates regularly, and I'm sure he's alot more over there than in WWE. If it was spotlight he wanted, he could just do that, I'd think.

He's been with the company for what... 20 years? 25? And he still feels he has to get massacred by Mark Henry or kiss Michael Cole's feet? I guess it could be wanting the spotlight at all costs, or maybe he just does whatever the bookers tell him? Maybe it's a less extreme version of Flair's issues and he needs the money. Who knows.

And we did get 1 thing from the Cole angle ... Swagger still does that really stupid looking airplane arms victory lap thing(or at least, he did, maybe Vickie will make him cut it out). I'd put the whole thing close to the anomyous GM in terms of TV time wasted, really. I really wish they used it to make Cole a heel manager.. he'd be great managing Awesome Truth right now.

IMO, Lawler would make a great heel manager as well. I was kind of hoping he would have become that with Otunga and Hennig.

I could see that... maybe if they do the rumored repackaging of 'Mike McGillicutty' to be 3rd Generation star Joe Hennig they'll do it.
