Jericho has been making a big deal out of wrestler stealing "his" stuff lately and I just saw this quote from a recent interview.
" Conspiracy Theory, where did that come from? Best in the World, where did that come from? Wearing suits, talking slow, using big words, using certain moves, you know Miz used the word "troglodyte" a few weeks ago and I'm like seriously? If there ever was a word associated with Chris Jericho that would be it. These guys have to start thinking of their own stuff and some times I see some of them and I'm like oh come on. It's not like it's influenced. At least give credit where credit is due."
Where did these come from? Larry Zbyszko, Harley Race, Nick Bockwinkel......to name a few. Each did a version of one of those ideas at some point and any time you think of a heel talking calmly/slowly and using big words you know Nick Bockwinkel pretty much invented that.
At one point he even mentioned Sin Cara (Lionsault?) and Kelly Kelly stealing stuff. I've got to wonder if he really means this or if it's setting up some sort of comeback or angle. If he really wants to lay claim to stuff that was fairly standard for decades then he's quickly going from respected guy in my book to "delusional ex-wrestler" territory.
I liked JBL's response to Alberto Del Rio "stealing" his gimmick much better. He noted that he "stole" it from Ted DiBiase and Ted stole it from someone else before him. I think that's a much more level-headed reaction. Or how about Randy Orton responding to Kurt Angle about Orton "stealing" Angle's moves?
Again, I think/hope Jericho's not serious, but I wonder what everyone else thinks.
