These are some questions for those who have tried (or finished) building an expansive EC/Classics period history. I'm referring to playing out 2074 thru 2086, with each individual year being represented and influenced by official roster changes.
When starting in 2074 how many wrestlers did you use on your active roster?
By what year (if any) does 'lack of official roster size' become a challenge?
Ideally, access to how many 'active wrestlers' would allow you to book your Fed at an optimal level?
Thanks in advance for any quality feedback.

2074 there are 19 wrestlers at the start of the fed. The Crosscurrents only wrestle as a tag and Morpheus/Omega only let one of the Mensans (the last to arrive to GWF) into the title tournament. In September the title tournament was held and Cordsar was the Mensan left out, speculation remains as to if this caused his relation Cordanus to come back for revenge all those years later. The roster remains the same throughout 2075 and the lowest it gets after the introductory year is 2082 or 2083 (can't remember which, but with Omega's downgrade in 2083, there is no true superstar anymore.)
I think booking at an optimal level is all based upon preference. I ran 2074-2087 as more of a sport, then entertainment, so it was easy to get through and no explanation was needed as why people faced each other. It allowed for Omega and Morpheus to rule and run the fed smoothly as they saw fit, with little drama.

My fed is at early 2086, and I never ran into an issue with the roster being too small, having stuck with the official guidelines for the Early Classics set the whole way. Even at 19 guys it wasn't an issue...I just adjusted the number of shows per year (running bi-weekly for a while) and matches per card dependent upon roster size.

I didn't make it quite all the way through (Yet), but through late 2084 I didn't have any problems... you can have a smaller roster when you don't have assigned heels and faces, really.
I think the 19 or so that some years have is pretty close to the minimum, but you can definately run a 15-20 card year with that size and have it be interesting.

NUMBER OF "OFFICIAL" WRESTLERS PER CLASSICS YEAR
2074: 19 2075: 19 2076: 20 2077: 22 2078: 24 2079: 26 2080: 24 2081: 24 2082: 22 2083: 21 2084: 22 2085: 21 2086: Fluctuates between 24 and 27 throughout the year.
Personally, I think that since the 2087 roster is 24 wrestlers, that after the Classics roster hits this point it shouldn't ever dip below it, so I plan to bring in some bootlegs from 2082-2085, just to keep things interesting because a game year for me is 30 cards.
That being said, I think the "optimal level" would be 24 wrestlers.

With everyone as "tweeners", the booking options are much broader than the smaller roster size would lead one to believe...and that's even if you're making an effort to keep tag team partners from having to wrestle each other.

I'm doing like most, and making the EC a sport not sports entertainment. If you haven't purchased it, buy Early Classics LWPD. Not only do you get to see some of the great early art from Werner, but the Melesky's did such a great job in the writing!!
I do 12 to 15 cards a year in my EC. Mostly once a month with a Supercard thrown in for effect...
The roster rules for using it as a sport with national(planetary) rivalry work amazingly.
Hope you buy, and I can see how your fed turns out.

Thanks LR. I have all the Classic Sets but haven't had the time to explore them as fully as I'd like. It's always good to get a gage and learn from the experiences of others.

I have often felt that I'd like the roster size to be larger (I'm in 2077 at the moment), but I can make do with four-match cards, usually three singles and one tag. Only two belts (Heavyweight and Tag). My first year I had 30 cards, second I had 40, and now it'll be 50 a year for the forseeable future.
I'd like to have 24 or so as an optimal level, but I've been doing it by the book thus far.
