I thought RAW was really good last night for the first time in a long time. There were 4 strong segments/matches.
I HATE Piper but the promo w Cena worked last night. It came off like Piper knew something we don't...that Cena is secretly frustrated and possibly fed up with the boos. Cena was fantastic here. I thought it elevated him as a noble, self-respecting face (and excellent role model for kids) while teasing kinks in his armor, teasing that he may not be all he says he is, and that he is just putting on a game face. I thought it was really strong.
Orton vs. Ziggler was a great match. Even though it wasn't entirely clean I think it helped elevate Dolph.
WWE DESPERATELY needs to elevate about 3 guys to legit Main Event status (and KEEP THEM THERE). Sheamus, Miz, Dolph, Barrett, Cody all these guys are upper-mid card, and when the World Title isn't with Orton, they drop him down to upper middle card to feud with these guys instead of "bringing up" one of them and elevating them. Does that make sense?
I even enjoyed the Daniel Bryan vs. Mark Henry segment. I'm super excited for Henry vs. DB tonight live in the cage for the belt. I think Henry will take DB out in a big injury angle. I think DB comes back @ (and maybe even wins) the Rumble. Imagine if he won the RR, fought for the belt at Mania, lost, then immediately cashed in MITB, locked in the Lebell Lock and won the belt? Could be cool. It really looks to me like it's going to be Henry/Show (as predicted) or both in the World Title picture at Mania. Maybe even add Orton somehow making it a 4-way.
I thought the Main Event was great. Great wrestling match for the WWE Title between your champ and the no.1 contender featured in the Main Event like it should be.
Great RAW. I'm really hoping things begin to turn around the closer we get to the Rumble (like they always seem to do)
one last thing -
anyone notice Bret Hart got BOOED last night? That's called over saturation folks. EVERYONE had it in their mind that Bret Hart was this untouchable legend before he returned to WWE. Then he came back and it was great. Then he came back again, and again, and again. Now people are sick of him.
Legends need to realize this KILLS their legacy. People get sick of seeing these ex-wrestlers walking around as shells of their former selves. Not everyone is Austin and Rock. I hope this was a wake up call for Hart. Stay home and let us remember the Hitman, not the old man.
