Alot of Lakers news today:
the NBA owners prevented a 3 way trade trade between the Rockets, Lakers, and NBA owned Hornets in which for the Lakers would have sent out Pau Gasol and Lamar Odom in return for Chris Paul
and it was also announced that Shannon Brown is expected to sign with the Suns

It looks like the NBAPA will hold off till Monday before taking action in hopes Stern changes his mind and I guess the teams in the trade might change up the offer to help the Hornets out with a slightly better deal...

The Los Angeles Lakers have acquired the Dallas Mavericks’ first round selection in the 2012 NBA Draft in exchange for Lamar Odom and the Lakers 2012 second round draft pick, it was announced today by General Manager Mitch Kupchak.
I don't know what I think about this deal. Odom might be starting to slow down but I wasn't expecting a trade of him unless it involved Paul or Howard.

Yeah, I didn't like that Odom trade too much since it was basically giving away last season's Sixth Man of the Year for a 1st rounder and a trade exception that the Lakers quite possibly may not even use. I was out last night so I missed the game, but the Lakers defeated the Knicks to improve to 2-2 and thankfully now get Andrew Bynum back from his 4 game suspension. No Lakers game tonight, but after Smackdown (which I actually get to watch here at 5PM because for some reason my new TV allows me to watch RAW and Smackdown at the same time as the East Coast) I think I am going to watch the Bulls at Clippers.

The trade could bite....but hopefully they can spin it into something good. They do have a way of doing it.

Odom hasn't been doing much for the Mavericks... I had high hopes for him.

Last night after Smackdown, I switched over to ESPN and watched the Lakers get an impressive rare road win this season over the Denver Nuggets 93-89.
The Lakers top 3 (players all played great (Kobe Bryant 20 points and 9 assists, Andrew Bynum 22 points and 10 rebounds, and Pau Gasol 13 points and 17 rebounds.) The Lakers do not have much of a bench (as opposed to the Nuggets who are deep but lack a superstar) but I think the Lakers will be a tough out in the playoffs.
