www.thepostgame.com/blog/daily-take/201112/biggest-travesty-bowl-seasonThe most important part of this story lies here and shows how corrupt and money-driven this system really is: UCLA finished with a losing record, fired coach Rick Neuheisel, and got a trip to San Francisco -- to play another team without a winning record. Western Kentucky was staying home. And it wasn't because of the supposedly weak Sun Belt conference. The Hilltoppers came in second, and yet the third and fourth place teams both made a bowl.

It's an imperfect system. And you're damn right it's about money. It has to be. At the end of the day you gotta fill as many seats as you can. And no one from Western Kentucky is going anywhere but to jail or their cousin's house for New Year's. UCLA is the bigger draw which means bigger attendance and more money. That's just they way it is.

I think LSU vs. Alabama is a joke.
It's really annoying that everyone has completely flip flopped 100% this season. All the people that were against that OSU/Michigan rematch suddenly are calling LSU/Alabama the "game of the century." I don't see how you can play for the NC when you don't win your conference or your division for that matter. The Championship games seemed completely pointless this year. Oklahoma State got screwed plain and simple.

Both Outback and Rose were sensational today. I hate MSU but so far they are the only good Big Ten team winning. Here's hoping MI can do it tomorrow vs. VT.
Personally, I've enjoyed the bowl season. Say what you want about the BCS but I've had fun watching these games so far.

This has been a Solid Bowl season and my favorite Bowl was the Pinstripe Bowl with Rutgers over Iowa State. I'm glad Michigan State won their 1st Bowl in 10 years and Michigan State was my Dad's favorite team...

So much for the Alabama didn't deserve to be in the NC arguments.

So much for the Alabama didn't deserve to be in the NC arguments. Depends on how you look at things... Alabama as the BCS National Champion did NOT only NOT win their conference, they did NOT win their Division within their conference. To me, this invalidates the WHOLE SYSTEM. If you CANNOT win your conference championship (let alone a division championship within that conference), you SHOULD NOT be the NATIONAL CHAMPION. yeah Alabama was better last night, but why does that win carry more weight than LSU's from earlier in the season? Time for the "rubber match"... BCS is BROKE...time to dissolve the current football conferences, set up 16 conferences on a regional basis, and the top team from each conference go into a tournament. NCAA directs the conferences...get the schools out of picking who they play and give EVERY SCHOOL a chance at making it to the tournament. As it stands right now, more than half of the schools in the Bowl Division DO NOT HAVE A CHANCE AT WINNING THE TITLE AT ALL. If, as some people insist that this is too restrictive, then 8 Super-Conferences and the top two teams from each conference are in and then a tournament pairing/draw system in which conference foes cannot play until the semi-finals should be instituted. If there is a rematch from this format, not really too much room to complain. The NCAA can look to UEFA (Champions League) for a drawing mechanism that will make the draws exciting and make a ton of CASH (which is what this is all about) on broadcast rights to the "Pairing Shows". The key is that, as with all of the other National Championships in the NCAA, EVERY TEAM at the start of the season has a chance to win the title. and for those teams that do not make the tournament, go ahead and hold 25 Bowl games...people will still go and watch...but the National Championship will be a true National Champion.

Maybe it was LSU that didn't belong. They both did. LSU deserved to be there because of their unbeaten record and Alabama deserved to be there because they were the next best team in the nation. They won, and they did it using 5 of the top 50 NFL rookies in next April's draft. 2 more than LSU and Stanford with 3 each and no one else with more than 1 or 2. They have the undisputed best talent and team in the nation. I'm all for any and all changes to the BCS but the best team won it this year.
