Welcome to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Guns N' Roses. The seminal rock band of the late 1980s and early '90s, best known for hits like "Welcome to the Jungle," ''Sweet Child O' Mine" and "November Rain," leads the 2012 class of inductees announced on Wednesday.
Also making the cut is the hip-hop trio Beastie Boys; rockers the Red Hot Chili Peppers; the late singer/songwriter Laura Nyro; Donovan; and influential British rock group The Small Faces/The Faces, which included Rod Stewart and Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood.
Nyro, who wrote such hits the 5th Dimension's "Wedding Bell Blues" and Blood Sweat & Tears' "And When I Die," is the only female act to make it this time around. The hall passed on Donna Summer, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Heart and Rufus with Chaka Khan, who were on the ballot for 2012.

I have no problem with the performers who got in, especially GnR and the Chili Peppers, but I was pulling for Joan Jett to make it. She deserves to go in as both a solo act and for her work in the Runaways. The real problem I have though is the exclusion of acts like Kiss, Rush, Deep Purple, Judas Priest, etc., and my favorites Motley Crue who all seem to get overlooked year in and year out. If you want to compare Motley and GnR, and I like both bands, the fact is the Crue ushered in that era of metal and if it counts are still playing together so they have cetainly made their mark on rock history yet don't even make the ballot. I'll stop before I go on an "Eddie Trunk rant" but at least rock is well represented in this years induction for a change.

I'm with Eddie Trunk! I don't mind GnR, Peppers & Beastie Boys in but the Hall of Shame should induct many others before the one's that really should wait...

All of this year's inductees are deserving.
Sadly, the HOF is all about politics in the music business. I'm not a big KISS fan by any means, but they deserve to be in without a doubt.
Chicago is the 13th biggest selling artist of all time but they get the shaft every year as well. Ridiculous.
It's just like we all debate who is considered a wrestling "legend" and who makes it in the WWE HOF every year.

Musicial I have no problem with GnR . Boy what about them days where minutes before a big gig . I believe that Axl just went home instead of on stage . That led to full scale riots . That's wrong !

Or Axl would get upset with the crowd about half way through and storm off stage.

To close out 2011, GnR is playing back to back shows here in Las Vegas at the Hard Rock on December 30th and December 31st. Tickets start at $95. Instead, I think I will save my money for Wrestle Reunion 6 next month in Los Angeles.
