UPDATE - July 4th:
With signups slowing down and us approaching 32 participants in the tournament, I'm making the command decision to cut it off at 32 should we reach that mark. I don't want to get to like 35 and have to give a metric buttload of byes in round one, so 32 is the limit. Five slots left!
BDS EDIT: Danger! Danger! Despite what I earlier said, only the new all-Centra entertainment set is available from the aCe Universe. Most of the Battle for Centra characters aren't compatible with the simulator, and thusly prohibited from entry.
It's that time of year again. Yes, when people far and wide travel to Jamestown, New York, to celebrate the passion that we all share here on this internet message board. And the rest of us stay home and patiently wait for Todd to finish having fun so he can send us the new set. Well not this year!
Ladies and Gentlemen, I bring you the 2008 Not@G-Con Cup!
THE RULES:
1.) Pick a wrestler who is currently in COTGonline (and PBP Sim compatible) as your competitor. This means you can pick from GWF 2087-2090, GWF 2119-2122, aCe (only all-Centra entertainment), SIMboT Zero, or Zombie Dreadnaught (who I will pick at the bottom of this post). It's first come, first served on wrestlers. Make your choice in a reply post in this thread, as those are the only ones that will count.
2.) Only one version of a wrestler is allowed. If you pick Bloodline 2119, you get the only Bloodline. Other years of his card will be considered gone, too. If there are multiple versions of your wrestler available, please specify which one you want.
3.) Nobody who's going to G-Con can sign up. If I find out you broke this rule I'll ban you for a month. This is only for those of us who will be left salivating for scraps from Jamestown.
Ummm, yeah, that's kind of it on rules.
THE FORMAT:
We will run the tournament in a standard single elimination, bracketed format.
I will not carry over fatigue from round to round, but from fall to fall in multi-fall matches as necessary.
Byes will be assigned in the first round where necessary in the inverse order of signup. So if you get in last and are stuck with the Mutant, at least you know you'll get the first bye.
The format for each match will be decided in a Spin the Wheel, Make the Deal format. Each match will be wrestled under one of the following rulesets, as determined at random:
* Titan Death Match
* Hitman Match
* Cosmic Cage Match
* Barbed Wire Cosmic Cage Match
* Torture Chamber Match
* The BDS Special! (Standard rules, but a wrestler must win two consecutive falls to advance)
Starting next week, whatever day is necessary (depending on the number of signups), I will post a round a day leading up to the championship match being posted around 10PM Eastern time on Saturday.
THE WINNERS:
The winner of the tournament, in addition to the praise of his fellow board members who aren't in Jamestown, will get a GWF MARTIAL LAW Digital Set for use with COTGonline to be awarded right after I post the results on Saturday night.
For everyone else, there will also be a second chance "Mystery Prize" awarded to the contestant who cuts the best promo in the style of your chosen wrestler. BDS EDIT: Here's a link to the Promo Thread - cut them there or they won't count. Judging will be done by a panel of experts (*coughMeKrisandToddcough*), and the prize will be determined later.
