First off: HOLY CRAP!!!
Ok, with that out of the way, here's my take.
I was one of the many that felt that Council of War fell flat, but now after seeing Black Death, it made me forget about all that.
The story is amazing. With the whole Ground Zero thing and they mystery and mystique about it. Then how people are converted to the team was genius preying off their anger. The whole collection of guys (and gal) were the perfect fit. I believe Mark T said it best when everyone is relevant and has a purpose, even Alpha Female. The mechanics and how they work in accordance to Harbinger's activity is killer.
Personally I'm not going to run the Infinity Challenge again, it really serves no purpose any more and drags on. Nothing against it, but it's just ho-hum on me for another year.
The whole staff thing and such is crazy, along with Balaal and being able to convert non-members for 2 cards is cool.
A big boost from those severely lagging like...well, most all in the group sans Havoc and Hell.
The 2 Betrayer cards are bad ass. The art and coloring is nuts for both! Not too thrilled on his little string thing as it seems a tad overkill, but it's cool none the less. More for something in a comic rather than wrestling. I will just make it a the top rope cannonball.
Oracle hopefully will gain the most (Mantis too). I like his mechanic to see a finisher coming. I see DARK FUTURES finisher as more of a punch with his rings rather than whipping out a crystal ball each time. That's just me. Not complaining, but the way I visualize things.
Alpha Female (formerly Strafe) was a nice turn, especially since she can fight men with no handicap. Things should prove interesting should she beat some of the Aethrans.
So overall the art is killer, the stats and moves are amazing and the story is great. IMO, one of the best sets of all time if I do say so. I was excited for this since seeing Harbinger and Balaal in October and as it built up, the anticipation grew more and more. I'm so glad it's here, it gives me lots to build upon, especially with Mantis turning on Swarm...that will be quite the blood feud.
The wrestler named End of Days is kinda strange and he's coming in July and the "baddest of all times" should be worth seeing. YIKES! I'm gonna enjoy this set and thankful that the next set isn't a year away now and just a little over 7 months
