For christmas I got "American Wrestling Classics Volume 1" featuring Gorgeous George v Jessie James (2 out of 3 falls) , Antonino Rocca v Johhny Valentine Killer Kowlaksi v Edouard Carpentier Haystack Calhouin v Killer Brooks Dick the Bruiser v Pepper Gomez (NWA Ch) Pat O'Conner v Buddy Rogers (2 out 3 falls) June Byers v (NWA Ladies Ch) Betty Hawkins Rocca/Peppez/Ticki Starr v Dr Jerry Graham/The Fabulous Kangaroos etc

Impressed me ? = Pat O'Connor , Antonnino Rocca (Far better than I thought he was . Great speed/agility) , Buddy Rogers (Sold it better than Gorgeous George and looked better in my opinion ?) & Betty Hawkins
Let me down ? = Killer Kowalski (Punch and brawl - It looked like his body was too big for his body frame ?)

I've got that DVD and your assessments based on those matches are pretty accurate. Rogers and Rocca were innovators. Rocca was doing things back then that it took another couple of decades for everyone else to catch up to. I don't think the Kowalski match there is representative of his career on a whole, though a lot of his brawling stuff doesn't hold up to today's standard.

Yeah, a lot of stuff has to be remembered for the time. I've seen a few good Kowalski matches though..and Rogers was incredible.
