Fed of the Quarter System

We know people invest time in this hobby, and we'd like to create an enhanced environment that produces a higher rate of return for our members. This process is designed to repair some of the elements which have proven impractical with the old Fed of the Month system, while retaining the positives that come with acknowledging the creative talents of our Fed posters.

The features of the Fed of the Quarter System are as follows:

* Quarterly Pacing: Approximately every 12 weeks, a Fed of the Quarter title will be awarded to one LOW/LOTF division poster and one CotG Combined division poster. This expanded time frame will allow voters to assess a larger period of work, and permit posters to participate at a pace that may prove more practical. The division of the award into two recipient categories will allow for expanded opportunity.

* Increased Award Visibility: Achievement of a FOTQ Award will be made more transparent, with the accounts of winning board members permanently titled with the accolade that they've earned.

* Merit Based Eligibility: To qualify for a FOTQ Ballot, a thread must have a minimum of 6 result posts with-in the start and end date of a given cycle. By cards, I mean actual results (not preview segments, comments, pictures, videos). Cycle deadlines for qualification will be publicly announced, with a target of around the 10th week of each quarter.

* Ballot Radar: To spotlight the work of candidates that qualify for a spot on the ballot, a Ballot Radar Thread will be posted around the mid point of the quarter. This thread will be comprised of a series of anchored links that click directly to the start point of eligible material. The radar will be produced by a combination of spot checks and direct requests. It is ultimately the responsibility of Fed posters to request a spot on the ballot should the spot check overlook their work.

* Level Playing Field Rule: Note that material cannot be carried forward from a previous cycle. This rule is designed to level the playing field for new posters just starting up, and established players picking up activity after some period of absence.

* Judges Panel: To ensure a base of critical assessment, a group of FG writers have agreed to vote each quarter on Feds that relate to the brands they handle. This panel will be divided into two divisions: LOW/LOTF and CotG Combined. For the good of the process, our participating writers will not be eligible to win Fed of the Quarter.

* Popular Vote by PM: A quarterly ballot containing a slate of all qualifying candidates will be sent out by PM to all board members. Anyone with a registered Gen-Pop account at the time of the mailing can cast a maximum of two total votes. Since there are two categories (LOW Combined and CotG Combined), votes can either be split among each division or both votes can be applied into one tier. A simple PM reply before the stated deadline will allow for easy participation at the touch of a button.

* Dynasty Bonus: All board members who post Fed threads will be eligible to appear on the ballot each and every quarter that they meet the stated posting minimum. Should a defending champion repeat their status consecutively, they will earn a Dynasty Bonus, which nets a free cardstock or digital FG Set of their choice.

* Prompt Results: Going forward (barring something extraordinary) board members can expect to see our two division winners announced with-in the first week of each new quarter.
