Determining who gets the title shots in your federation is one of the perks of being the booker. - How do you determine who gets the title shots?
- How many shots should the #1 contender get?
My contenders are a combination of storyline and wins. If someone's on a hot streak, he's probably going to get a shot at a belt before too long. I'm also partial to sneak attacks jumpstarting a feud with the champion, even if the attacker doesn't have very many wins. One shot is all a contender is guaranteed in my feds, although I'll normally book a rematch if the title match ends on a DQ or count out. Interference will usually signal the beginning of a feud, which will lead to more title shots.

I do rankings (either top 10 or top 12) for all belts, updated every four cards or so. To enter the rankings you have to beat someone who is already in the rankings. From that point the rankings are based mostly on recent won-lost records.
From that point, anyone ranked for a title is eligible to challenge for it. Deciding who actually gets the shot is largely a combination of very recent won/lost record and position in the rankings. But I will also sometimes take a lower contender for various reasons: the champion is ducking, the champ has had several very tough challenges recently, I don't really want to see an upset pulled off to screw up something I have planned for a supercard, etc.

I don't keep track of rankings really, but use the streaks and stuff. I do a lot of events where multiple people are in the title match like Elimination Chamber, gauntlet, etc.
Most times I have matches to determine a #1 contender to face champ at my PPV's or I know who's going to be facing him and name one.

I sort of keep rankings to determine who gets which shot...however, if a wrestler is streaking, wins a non-title match, or wins an event like the foresaid Elimination Chamber for example- they have the shot...
Shot wise...the opponent usually gets one crack at it unless something happens like a disqualification or count out...

I go by the top guys in the book (GWF) and always try to build to a possible title match for them. Star Warrior just got a shot and loss. I had Wolf come out to "save the day" setting up his title shot. I go by wins and losses but mainly storyline, whether it be Tom's or mine. I'm not sure if Splatter is considered a top guy in the book, but since I like him so much, I'll work him into one eventually. Heck, I'd like to eventually give Mutant a shot!

Heck, I'd like to eventually give Mutant a shot! Always had a soft spot for Mutant (as you can tell in my avatar)...my kids love the dude! In my daughter's initial Galaxian Tournament, Mutant came within a hare's breath of defeating Wolf to become champion and had (for awhile) remained a top contender in her fed...funny how dice play games with promoters... Actually, Mutant's biggest win in my feds was at New Year's Slaughter 2000 (I think) against Intercontinental Champion Prodigy...Mutant actually won the IP title but would lose it back shortly afterwards...

Mutant WILL hold some belt in my GWF at some point in time.
I, too, love the guy.

I do monthly rankings. I don't necessarily pick who's ranked 1, but I do pick someone out of the top 10. And they only get one title shot, unless they win by DQ or count-out.
