I've been kicking ideas around for this lately. Instead of rolling a die for each wrestler to determine initiative, I was thinking there could be a chart instead. I haven't come up with flavor text but the structure would like this: Roll | Result | 2 | Wrestler 1 rolls on Level 3 offense | 3-4 | Wrestler 1 rolls on Level 2 offense | 5-6 | Wrestler 1 rolls on Level 1 offense | 7 | Roll Again | 8-9 | Wrestler 2 rolls on Level 1 offense | 10-11 | Wrestler 2 rolls on Level 2 offense | 12 | Wrestler 2 rolls on Level 3 offense |
Any thoughts? I think it would add more excitement to the beginning of the matches and dramatically shorten some of them. A 2 or 12 could lead to someone hitting their finisher at the opening bell.

I really, really like this, especially rolling the 2 or 12.
It makes a lot of sense, honestly.

I actually like the idea of unexpected things being able to happen to open a match and this chart is a good addition. I have a pretty fluid system in my head for this type of thing, meaning there is no rhyme of reason to it, but it is nice to see someone working on a way to determine it more randomly.
Those times a wrestler has the opportunity to hit his finisher immediately could do some serious damage to the opponent, especially when some wrestlers have multiple finishers. This could also lead to an imbalance at times depending on the level of both competitors.
Really good idea. Looking forward to seeing it fleshed out.

This is a solid idea (especially for connecting matches like tournaments, 2 out of 3, multi-man eliminations). I could see staggering the percentages to the difference in Pin Rating spreads (ie. if a wrestler with a 7 (4) pin takes opening offense against a 4 (1) the roll percentage for taking Level 3 Offense could be less than the inverse occurring). In a stand alone match you have the automatic base. In a continuous match setting (Last Man Standing, Round Robin) the dynamic effects of token fatigue would get highlighted. Something along the lines of the usual 2d6 roll to determine who takes initiative (rolls on the chart) and then staggered outcomes for the designation: Result | PR - | PR = | PR + | You open the match with a wicked Level 3 offensive move. Opponent rolls Level 3 Defense | 9-10 | 10-11 | 12 | With the opponent distracted, you go for an immediate small package at the bell. Opponent rolls his pin | 11-12 | 12 | N/A |

I don't know if I would use this all the time, but I agree with LWPD: it would be great for multi-wrestler matches and such. For example, I still run the War Games, so I do a lot of battlezone matches. This chart would be perfect for something like that.

Not to ruin anyone's fun, but how is this any different then rolling on the Vidtek or Gary Michael Cappetta ring announcer charts?

This would be new to me as I don't have GMC nor do I use Vidtek in my fed...I use him as a wrestler, but I have never looked at his card to know he has anything like this.
