Bruiser Brody (11) v. Dick Hutton (54)
Brody cuts a path to the ring swinging a chair above his head and ringside is ready to explode. Hutton shows no fear however and is actually the first one to take the action to the floor. Brody goes into the ring post and is busted open. Hutton picks up a 1 count back in the ring with an atomic drop (R8/P2). Hutton controls the action as the fans wait for an explosion from the madman from New Mexico. Bordy finally counters a shoulder throw and unleashes his attack on Hutton. A series of one hand body slams shake the ring. Brody throws a figure four leglock (ch) in for good measure. Hutton kicks out after a JUMPING KNEE DROP (R8/P6). Hutton again takes control at ringside when he whips Brody into the post a second time. The action goes back and forth in the ring and Hutton avoids Brody’s charge into the corner and rolls him up for a near fall (R8/P3). Brody power back and picks up a near fall of his own after a one hand body slam (R8/P4). Hutton shows his own toughness and matches Brody move for move, blow for blow and the fans get behind the former World Champion. Brody’s power attack proves too much in the end as a combination of a piledriver followed by a big boot to the face ends it (R2/P6) Cats Eyes! Up next: Don Leo Jonathan (22) v. Ivan Koloff (43)

Hutton gave a good challenge but the wild man was too much.

Thanks Troy and Kamala for reading. Brody and Hutton had an excellent match. Several times I thought Hutton would come away with his hand raised.
Don Leo Jonathan (22) v. Ivan Koloff (43) Two of wrestling powerhouses clashed in the next match. Jonathan towers over Koloff but that does not stop Koloff from coming at the big man. Plenty of brawling in this one as you would expect. Jonathan catches Koloff in the corner with tackle and then hits an atomic drop for the sudden pin (R3/P3). The fans are stunned. Up next: Antonio Inoki (27) v. Masked Superstar (38)

I was psyched to see Bruiser Brody advance, I'm hoping to see him go far in the tournament. Are you going to list a second round bracket? I would like to see the upcoming matches if possible. At any rate, great action Bookerbill.

Thanks Crue. I agree that it would be nice to see Brody go far.
Antonio Inoki (27) v. Masked Superstar (38)
The match opens with a textbook display of counter wresting. Inoki is final able to get free and executes a belly to back suplex and then tries for a submission win with an OCTOPUS HOLD. Superstar escapes (R6/P3). Inoki wraps up Superstar in the hold a second time but Superstar again works his way out (R11/P4). Superstar regains his feet only to dropped by an ENZUIGIRI but Inoki can only get a 2 count (R9/P6). However a second ENZUIGIRI is too much and Inoki is through to round two (R7/P7). Up Next: Nick Bockwinkel (6) v. Bob Orton Sr. (59)

Nick Bockwinkel (6) w/ Bobby Heenan v. Bob Orton Sr (59)
Both men are serious during the introductions. We get a great Weasel chant for Heenan who is not pleased at ringside. Bockwinkel takes the lead early on but Orton counters a backdrop with boot to the face and then takes Bockwinkel to the floor. Outside, both men mix it up. Bockwinkel grabs a chair but Orton wrestles it away and clocks Bockwinkel earning an exit from the tournament via disqualification.
Up Next - Round Two! Andre The Giant (1) v. Magnum Terry Allen (32) along with Antonio Rocca (16) v. Bobby Eaton (48)

Thanks Kamala. Orton did match up well for a stretch.
Round Two!
Andre the Giant (1) v. Magnum Terry Allen (32)
The crowd is on their feet for both men. We get a handshake at the bell. Andre rocks the fans with a dropkick early on but Allen is known for his own dropkick and drops Andre for a 1 count (R7/P2) with a series of dropkicks. Allen is not able to toss Andre to ringside and Andre simply body slams Allen for a 2 count (R5/P2). Later Andre goes for power bomb but Allen counters and a series of dropkicks knocks Andre to the floor. Allen is out after him and runs Andre into the rails. Andre catches Allen climbing the buckles and tosses him across the ring. A sit down splash crushes Allen. It is all Andre in and out of the ring with power moves mixed with dropkicks. A series of headbutts weaken Allen’s knees and Andre ends it with a BIG SPLASH (R3/P9).
Antonio Rocca (16) v. Bobby Eaton (48) w/Jim Cornette The fans are all over Cornette at ringside from the moment he appears. Rocca is one of the most popular competitors of all time and takes several minutes to greet his fans at ringside. The pace is quick from the outset as you would expect with these two in the ring. Eaton is able to counter a backdrop with a piledriver and attacks with a top rope elbow and a stinging right hand. Eaton cover. 1, 2, ¾ (R2/P1). The fans thought it was over and the intensity grows at ringside. Rocca eats the steel rails and then Eaton eats the ring post minutes later. Both men are bleeding as Rocca takes the match back inside. Rocca immediately tries to end with an ARGENTINIAN BACKBREAKER but Cornette causes the distraction to keep Eaton alive. Rocca connects with a deathjump smash and then goes back to the ARGENTINIAN BACKBREAKER but once again Cornette is up on the apron saving Eaton. Eaton tries unsuccessfully to slow the pace down but Rocca has all the right counters that is until Eaton runs him into the ring post. Back in the ring, a top rope elbow gives Eaton a 1 count (R7/P2). Eaton traps Rocca in the ropes and hammers way until the referee steps in. Rocca manages to roll clear of a deathjump and Eaton crashes to the mat. Rocca hooks the leg for 2 ½ (R7/P5). Rocca slowly mounts the corner but Cornette cracks him with his tennis racket and Rocca crashes to the mat. Eaton connect with a stinging right land for a 2 count (R5/P3). ALABAMA JAM. 1, 2, kick out (R6/P5). The fans cannot believe it. Neither can Cornette for that matter. ALABAMA JAM. Rocca kicks out again (R9/P6) and Cornette is nearly in tears. A stinging right hand and Eaton goes up top for a third ALABAMA JAM. 1, 2, shoulder up (R8/P7)! Eaton ties up Rocca in the ropes and hammers away. The referee frees Rocca who crumbles to the mat. ALABAMA JAM and Eaton covers. Rocca kicks out again! (R9/P8). Eaton just shakes his head before tosses Rocca to the floor out of frustration. Cornette gets some kicks in drawing huge heat. Eaton comes outside and sends Rocca into the rails before tossing Rocca back under the ropes. ALABAMA JAM. 1, 2, 3 (R8/P9). Eaton is headed for a showdown with the Giant. Up next: Frank Gotch v. The Destroyer followed by Bobo Brazil v. Jim Londos
