It is once again time for 64 of the best Legends of Wrestling to compete in a single elimination tournament to determine the best of the best.
This time Tiger Mask, One Man Gang, Jushin Liger and Nigel McGuinness are out to make room for four new competitors from the Legends 11 set.
Last tournament, Bobo Brazil and Killer Kowalski survived the field and it was Brazil coming away with the victory. Will Brazil be able to repeat the feat for a second year in a row? First up on Monday… Andre The Giant v. Bryan Danielson

Andre the Giant (1) v. Bryan Danielson (64)
Both men are out to a solid ovation. Danielson is giving away over 250 pounds. Handshake gets a solid pop. Danielson uses his speed to keep out of The Giant’s reach but when Andre does catch Danielson, it is disastrous. Outside the ring, Danielson manages to avoid Andre’s shoulder smash and Andre goes into the ring post shoulder first. Backside, Danielson stuns ringside and traps the Giant in CATTLE MUTILATION but the Giant easily powers out (R7/P2). Andre sends Danielson into the ropes and the American Dragon comes off the ropes with a cross body block. 1, 2, ¾ (R3/P2). The fans explode thinking Danielson has done the impossible and quickly turn on the official. Andre is able to use his size to take control of the action slowing the pace down with a lengthy bear hug. Danielson gets caught with a turnbuckle squash for a 1 count (R6/P2). Danielson hangs in and manages to keep off his back. The action goes back and forth. Andre scores with a body slam at ringside that earns the Giant heat from ringside. Back inside a head butt gives Andre a 2 count (R8/P3) before Andre breaks out a powerbomb (ch) that shakes the ring. The crowd gasps as Danielson is crushed to the mat. A BIG SPLASH sends Andre onto the next round (R8/P9). Up next…Magnum TA (32) v. Dan Severn (32)

Thanks Todd,
Danielson made out much better than I thought he would.
Magnum TA (32) v. Dan Severn (33)
Magnum has the fans on his side, especially the ladies. Severn has his fans as well and many observers are interested to see how his clash of styles will play out. Severn uses a knee to the head to gain control but Allen is able to hit a spinning neckbreaker (ch) for the first pin attempt (R9/P3). Severn shows off his mat skills and slows the pace with back to back choke sleepers that forces Allen to the floor. Severn is out after him but Allen reverses a whip into the ring post. Back inside Allen immediately goes for the kill with a BELLY TO BELLY SUPLEX but Severn is able to get a shoulder up (R8/P7). The fans are really into the action after the near fall. It is back and forth now with Severn trying to tie up Allen. Allen gets another near fall after a spinning neckbreaker (R7/P5). Severn finally catches Allen and attacks with a choke sleeper. Allen bails and both men brawl around the ring. Back inside, Severn hits a fireman’s carry slam and hooks the leg for two (R6/P3). A second fireman’s carry slam rocks Allen. The momentum goes back and forth the fans can really sense that either man could win. A choke sleeper sends Allen to the floor again but this time Severn waits for Allen to return to the ring and applies WAKIGATAME to a solid pop but Allen is ready and makes it to the ropes (R10/P6). Severn dumps Allen to the floor with a fireman’s carry slam in a sick looking spot. Somehow, Allen manages to recover and trade blows with Severn as the action goes in and out of the ring. The referee steps in and Severn shoves the official aside to get at Allen. The referee calls for the bell and Severn has been disqualified. The fans are disappointed in the finish but the action was intense. Allen has backed his way into a showdown with Andre the Giant in round two. Up Next….Johnny Valentine (17) v. Bobby Eaton (48)

Thanks for following the action again Kamala.
Johnny Valentine (17) v. Bobby Eaton (48) w/Jim Cornette
The fans give Cornette solid heat as he leads Beautiful Bobby to the ring. Cornette gets in a blow with his tennis racket early on to give Eaton the advantage. Valentine battles back but once again Cornette shows his value by distracting the referee while Eaton runs Valentine into the ring post. Valentine is busted wide open but manages to kick out after an ALABAMA JAM (R11/P3). A stinging right hand gets Eaton a 1 count (R9/P3). Eaton sets up Valentine for another blow from Cornette’s racket and the fans lose their minds at ringside. Eaton hooks the leg for 2 (R8/P4). Eaton comes off the top with a deathjump smash and Valentine looks finished. Cornette jams his racket into Valentine’s throat while Eaton distracts the referee. ALBAMA JAM and we have first upset of the tournament (R3/P6). Valentine falls short in what turns out to be basically a handicap match. Up next…Antonio Rocca (16) V. Johnny Saint (49)

Antonio Rocca (16) V. Johnny Saint (49)
Another fascinating contrast of styles as one of pioneers of high flying wrestling meets one of the best mat grapplers of his generation. A handshake starts the action off. Rocca’s victory roll early on sends Saint to the floor to think things over. Once the action returns to the ring, Rocca traps Saint in an ARGENTINIAN BACKBREAKER and that is it (R3/P4). Saint is clearly disappointed as are the fans who were hoping for a much longer contest. Up next…Frank Gotch (9) v. Larry Zbyszko (56)

Frank Gotch (9) v. Larry Zbyszko (56)
The fans are clearly behind Gotch and we get a spud head chant that sets Zbyszko off. Zbyszko cools off and manages to take control of the action early on picking up a near fall after a knee smash (R7/P1) and follows with a PILEDRIVER for a 2 count (R7/P3). Gotch continued to struggle and Zbyszko sends him head first into the rails busting Gotch open. Zbyszko cannot get the win after another PILEDRIVER (R7/P4) but a series of deathjump smashes hit their mark. The match goes to the floor and Gotch finally finds some life reversing a whip into the ring post and Zbyszko goes in shoulder first. Gotch works Zbyszko’s should on the mat. Zbyszko turns things around at ringside and then plants a bloody Gotch with a third PILEDRIVER for a 2 count (R9/P5). Gotch manages to counter a charge into the corner with an elbow to the chest and then traps Zbyszko in a guillotine choke. Gotch then switches to a rolling kneebar and Zbyszko can barely make it to the ropes (R5/P4). A grinding hammerlock transitions into a GOTCH TOE HOLD and Gotch survives a determined Zbyszko to make it to the next round (R6/P8). Up next…The Destroyer (24) v. Road Warrior Animal (41)

The Destroyer (24) v. Road Warrior Animal (41) w/Paul Ellering
The Road Warrior is out to a great pop but Destroyer does not seem impressed. Destroyer becomes impressed when Animal tosses him around the ring in the opening minutes of the match. A POWERSLAM gets Animal a near fall (R9/P2). Animal hits a second one and Destroyer kicks out again (R10/P3). Animal runs Destroyer battering ram style into the ring post but Destroyer somehow makes hit back into the ring before the 10 count (R9/P4). POWERSLAM and Destroyer again with the shoulder up (R8/P5). The fans cannot believe it and begin to get behind the masked competitor. Destroyer draws on their support and begins to counter Animal’s attack. Destroyer slows the pace down with a series of intelligent sleeper holds. A Single leg Boston Crab forces Animal to the floor. Destroyer comes outside and stomps on Animal’s leg drawing some heat. Animal is able to crawl back in before the 10 count (R8/P4). Destroyer executes a deathjump crossbody block for a near fall (R8/P5) before trapping Animal in a FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK. Animal uses his all over his power to roll out of the hold (R10/P8) but Destroyer keeps on the leg with a single leg Boston Crab. Animal manages to escape to the floor but Destroyer comes out and stomps away on Animal’s leg and decks Ellering for good measure. The Road Warrior cannot regain the ring and is counted out. (R2/P8) Cat eyes! Up next…Mr. Saito (25) v. Jim Londos (40)

Destroyer vs Road Warrior Animal sounded like a great match. Londos vs Saito is a tough call but I'm going with Londos
