Steve Williams (21) v. John Pesek (44) Williams is out to a solid pop. Williams uses his weight advantage early on with a fireman’s carry into a football tackle for a near fall (R9/P3). Williams shocks the fans and Pesek with a cross body block deathjump that looks anything but graceful but gets a 2 count regardless (R8/P4). Pesek kicks out after an OKLAHOMA STAMPEDE (R11/P7). Williams keeps coming and slows the match down with a bear hug. A backdrop driver forces Pesek to the floor. Williams comes out after him and both men trade blows around the ring. The referee cannot restore order and both men are eliminated from the tournament via double disqualification. Up Next: Don Muraco (28) v. Diamond Dallas Page (37) Sooner vs Cornhusker...Dr. Death vs Nebraska Tiger Man. With those combustible elements thrown together, the double DQ seems fitting. Nice format Bookerbill!

Muraco gets a 2 count with a neckbreaker (R5/P3) and then gets another two count with a second neckbreaker (R6/P4). Muraco climbs the corner but Page catches him on top and tosses him to the mat. DIAMOND CUTTER. 1, 2, 3 (R6/P6). Muraco is out and Page leaves ringside through the fans. Up Next: Fred Blassie (5) v. Ox Baker (60)

Thanks for the feedback Kamala. Muraco felt the bang and that was it for him.
Fred Blassie (5) v. Ox Baker (60)
They had a hard time finding someone to referee this contest. There were no hammerlocks or wrist holds to be found in this one early on as they both brawl from the outset. The fans love it. Baker’s clothesline connects and puts Blassie down for a 1 count (R8/P1). Blassie is up and Baker strikes with a HEART PUNCH. 1, 2, 3 (R5/P5.) Another top seed is out in the opening round. Lou Thesz (2) v. Angelo Mosca (63)
Thesz is out to a solid ovation but Mosca could care less and goes on the offensive early on with a series of fish hooks and punches. Thesez does manage to get the occasional hold locked on but for the most part Mosca’s holds the edge. At one point, Thesz is back dropped to the floor and lands hard at ringside. Slick finish to this one as Mosca Irish whips Thesz into the buckles and charges in but Thesz rebound out of the corner with a perfect THESZ PRESS for the win (R3/P3). Mosca complains that he kicked out before the three count but the referee stands by his decision and Thesz advances. Up Next: Pepper Gomez (31) v. Rikidozan (34)

Pepper Gomez (31) v. Rikidozan (34)
Gomez is loved by the fans. A handshake out of respect gets us started and the fans settle in for what has the potential to be the best match of the opening round. Both men spend a lot of time brawling on the floor in the opening minutes of the match and soon are a bloody mess. Gomez counters an attempted figure four leglock (ch) and then slows down Rikidozan with a sleeper hold followed by a Mexican Leap for a 2 count (R5/P2). Rikidozan catches Gomez on the top of the corner with a chop that sends the Mexican crashing to the mat. Rikidozen punishes Gomez with a Boston Crab and then mounts the corner for his deathjump attack but Gomez rolls clear and the Japanese legend crashes to the mat. Gomez hooks the leg for 2 (R6/P3). The pace picks up and Rikidozan ducks under a clothesline and then counters a back drop with a piledriver. Gomez is stunned and Rikidozan capitalizes with a perfect HIPLOCK for the win (R2/P4) Cats Eyes sends Gomez home. Up Next: Killer Kowalski (18) v. The Sheik (47)

Killer Kowalski (18) v. The Sheik (47) w/Abdullah Farouk
The atmosphere at ringside is electric as the fans brace for impact. Kowalski opts to wrestle early on and gains the advantage. A full nelson suplex stuns (ch) Sheik for 1 (R8/P1) and Kowalski immediately goes for the win with a CLAW HOLD but Sheik is not ready to go down that quick (R7/P4). Kowalski goes back to the CLAW HOLD and this time Sheik as to grab the ropes to hang on (R6/P5). A deathjump clothesline nearly takes the Sheik’s head off and Kowalski just keeps coming. Sheik gets the shoulder up after another full nelson suplex (ch) (R10/P5) before Kowalski applies a CLAW HOLD. This time Farouk jumps to the apron distracting Kowalski who leaves the Sheik and decks Farouk. The crowd explodes. Sheik is busted open from the Claw but manages to drag Kowalski to the floor starting a wild brawl at ringside. Sheik gets the best of the action outside and then takes Kowalski back to the floor busting him open with a head slam into the rails. Sheik maintains a brief advantage but Kowalski catches Sheik rebounding off the ropes with shoulder tackle and then attacks with a stomach claw. Sheik cannot counter and the finalist from last tournament is onto the next round (R6/P6). Up next: Road Warrior Hawk (15) v. Mad Dog Vachon (50

Road Warrior Hawk (15) w/Paul Ellering v. Mad Dog Vachon (50)
Despite being a former multiple time World and Tag Team Champion, no one was giving Vachon much of a chance in this one. Vachon has other ideas however and attacks the Road Warrior before the bell sending Hawk into the ring post. Vachon goes for the win with an airplane spin at the bell but a bloody Hawk kicks out at 1 (R8/P2). Vachon keeps up the attack in and out of the ring including clubbing Hawk across the back with a chair shot at ringside. The fans are all over the referee. It is all Vachon who gets a near fall after a double foot stomp (R7/P3). Vachon chokes out Hawk at ringside with a length of cord and then takes the fight back into the ring. Hawk finally catches a break and blocks a deathjump with a boot to the face. Hawk mounts the corner himself for a deathjump cross body block for a ½ count (R12/P3). Hawk then hits a FLYING CLOTHESLINE but Vachon gets his shoulder up at the last second. (R6/P5). Hawk cannot get the pin after a gut wrench suplex (R8/P5) and then takes Vachon outside. Vachon again makes use of a chair shot to turn things around but this time the referee has seen enough and disqualifies Vachon. The action continues after the bell with both men brawling around ringside. Road Warrior Animal and Butcher Vachon arrive and it is chaos until security floods ringside and pull the two teams apart. These two battled all over the East Coast and the fans were anticipating an intense match up. Snuka takes flight early on when he blocks a charge to the corner with an elbow to the chest followed by a deathjump cross body block for a 1 count (R9/P3). The match breaks down to an absolute brawl as most of the action takes place at ringside. Both men eat the ring post and are quickly a bloody mess. Snuka snaps at ringside. At one point, both men struggle over a chair. Snuka wins and drops Orton with a chairshot. The bell sound and Snuka is going home by disqualification. Up Next: Masked Superstar II (23) v.
