More great action, Bookerbill, and i liked the Eaton vs. Rude bout particularly with Bobby Heenan and Jim Cornette at ringside. It was great to see RVD and The Crusher advance and Greg Valentine picked up a huge win over Antonino Rocca. I'm pulling for DDP and Nick Bockwinkel in the next bouts.

Thanks for the feedback Sinclair, Kamala, Nick and Crue. There have been some crazy upsets early on this year.
Frank Gotch (10) v. Diamond Dallas Page (42) Page comes through the crowd again and Gotch learns from William Muldoon in the first round and jumps his opponent at ringside running Page into the ring post. Page is once again busted open before the bell. Once the bell sounds, Gotch goes for the immediate submission with a guillotine choke but Page makes it to the ropes. Page is able to win a brawl on the floor and then runs Gotch into the ring steps. Gotch is nearly counted out of the ring (R5/P1). Page goes for a deathjumps smash but Gotch has the counter with a boot to the face. Both men exchange moves for several minutes until Page runs into Gotch’s elbow in the corner and crumbles to the mat. Gotch locks on a GOTCH TOE HOLD. Page moves towards the ropes and is almost there when Gotch drags him back to the middle of the ring. There is no comeback for Page this round (R6/P7).
Nick Bockwinkel (7) w/Bobby Heenan v. Masked Superstar II (26) Bobby The Brian knows more than a little something about Superstar II so the insiders gave the advantage to Bockwinkel in this one. Bockwinkel wastes no time in going to work on his much larger opponent including an abdominal stretch. Outside, Bockwinkel rams Superstar’s leg off the floor and then traps him in a FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK when the match returned to the ring. Superstar grabs the ropes (R4/P3). Bockwinkel moves a BOCKWINKEL SLEEPER without success (R7/P5) and then plants him with back to back piledrivers. Bockwinkel goes back to an abdominal stretch but Superstar powers out (R11/P4). Superstar just cannot seem to get anything going. A Boston Crab slows the bout down and Bockwinkel hits yet another Piledriver. Superstar eats the rails at ringside and then makes it to the ropes yet again to escape a second FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK (R7/P6). Clearly frustrated, Bockwinkel resorts to a series of chokes on the ropes drawing great heat and with Heenan pleading with Bockwinkel to finish Superstar, Bockwinkel does just that with a FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK (R3/P7).
Up next... Mil Mascaras (3) v. Iron Sheik (35) w/Fred Blassie & Blackjack Mulligan (19) v. Sabu (51) w/Bill Alfonso

Thanks for reading Nick. I have not done the tag team tournament before but I am giving it some serious consideration.
Mil Mascaras (3) v. Iron Sheik (35) w/Fred Blassie The heat for Sheik is off the charts and Mascaras is loved around the world so the atmosphere is electric. There is a solid exchange of counters early on that has the momentum going back and forth. Mascaras dives onto both Blassie and Sheik at ringside the crowd explodes. FLYING BODYPRESS gets Mascaras a 1 count (R7/P3). Sheik wins a brawl on the floor and Mascaras finds himself tangled in the ropes shortly thereafter. Sheik uses Blassie’s cane to choke his opponent and the referee calls for the disqualification.
Blackjack Mulligan (19) v. Sabu (51) w/Bill Alfonso Sabu narrowly escaped one big man in the first round after a controversial disqualification and faces another big man in the second round in the form or Blackjack Mulligan. Mulligan dominates early and a lariat sends Sabu to the floor. Mulligan comes out after his opponent and runs him into the ring steps leading to a near count out (R9/P2). Back in the ring, Sabu needs the ropes to escape a CLAWHOLD (R6/P5). Mulligan drags Sabu off the ropes and applies the hold again but Alfonso is able to cause a distraction. Mulligan shows no fear and brawls with Sabu around the ring before slowing things down with a trapezius claw for a near submission (R6/P5). Mulligan comes off the top of the buckles and the referee goes down. The official recovers almost immediately. Sabu is able to drop out of a press slam and rebounds Mulligan off the ropes into a spinning kick. Mulligan is stunned and Sabu locks in a CAMEL CLUTCH but Mulligan powers out (R5/P2). Sabu clocks Mulligan with a chair shot at ringside and then mounts the ropes for a deathjump but Mulligan catches Sabu on the top of the buckles and tosses him to the mat. Mulligan traps Sabu in the ropes and hammers away but Alfonso is able to shake him lose. Mulligan goes to the top and Sabu is able to catch him with a forearm and then tosses him to the mat. Sabu misses a TRIPLE JUMP MOONSAULT but is able to catch Mulligan coming out of the ring and runs him into the ring post. Mulligan is busted wide open and the referee signals for the disqualification.
Up next... Harley Race (22) v. Johnny Saint (54) & Dan Severn (38) v Kevin Sullivan (59)

That Mulligan vs. Sabu match was intense, really solid action. I was happy to see Mil Mascaras advance over a tough foe like the Iron Sheik. I was sad, however, to see DDP go down but Frank Gotch is as tough as they come in this great game. Really looking forward to Harley Race vs. Johnny Saint, that has the makings of a classic written all over it.

Thanks for the feedback Crue.
Harley Race (22) v. Johnny Saint (54) A handshake gets the action under way. Race goes to work with a knee to the gut and then moves to a perfect swinging neckbreaker. Cover. 1, 2, 3 (R2/P2). Race does not even break a sweat. Dan Severn (38) v Kevin Sullivan (59) Severn looks impressive early on and avoids brawling with the manic Sullivan. A pair of fireman’s carry slams rocks Sullivan. The Beast is in total control. Outside, Severn fireman carry slams Sullivan through the ringside table! Sullivan is nearly counted out (R9/P3). Severn gets caught on the top of the corner after hitting another fireman’s carry slam and Sullivan breaks out the foreign object. Severn is busted open and struggles as Sullivan beats him from corner to corner. A deathjump clothesline sends the action to the floor and Sullivan cracks Severn with a chair shot and Severn is almost counted out (R7/P6). Sullivan takes Severn back to the floor again and this time he reverses a whip into the post. Sullivan is busted open as the match returns to the ring. Severn locks in a WAKIGATAME for the win (R7/P3). It is now onto the round of 16 so everyone take a look and make your pics as to who will win the tournament:
Road Warrior Hawk (17) w/Ellering v. Antonio Inoki (32)
Buddy Rogers (8) v. Steve Williams (24)
Terry Gordy (13) v. Mr. Saito (29)
Rob Van Dam (5) w/Bill Alfonso v. Bobby Eaton (53) w/Jim Cornette
The Crusher (31) v Greg Valentine (50) w/Captain Lou Albano
Nick Bockwinkel (7) w/Bobby Heenan v. Frank Gotch (10)

Great tournamnet so far Bookerbill. Here's who I'd like to see in the round of eight ( or Elite 8 ) as I like to say:
Road Warrior Hawk Steve Williams Terry "Bam Bam" Gordy RVD! RVD! Greg Valentine Frank Gotch Blackjack Mulligan Dan Severn
Going for Hawk, RVD, Gordy, or Williams to take it all.

Looks like Nick thinks someone for the top half of the draw will take it.
Road Warrior Hawk (17) w/Ellering v. Antonio Inoki (32)
The fans are buzzing during the introductions for this one. Inoki stunned the world eliminating Andre The Giant last round and the fans were curious as to how far he will go. Inoki runs Hawk into the ring side rails and then takes the powerhouse back into the ring. Inoki ties up Hawk with an OCTOPUS HOLD but Hawk powers out (R10/P2). Hawk gets back in the driver’s seat at ringside press slamming Inoki back into the ring. FLYING CLOTHESLINE for a 1 count (R9/P3). Hawk goes up top but Inoki rolls clear and Hawk crashes to the ring. Inoki covers for 2 (R6/P3). The match goes to the floor and Inoki runs Hawk to the ringside rails a second time and this time the referee calls for the disqualification.

Not the way I would want Hawk to win but hey, he advances to the next round. Can he make it to the Final ( or Fantastic ) Four.

I'm interested in seeing how far the wrestlers with managers can go, the managers have played a pivotal role in some wrestlers getting this far.......go Beautiful Bobby!
