I was really looking forward to Harley Race vs. Johnny Saint but Harley just blitzed him. That was a shockingly quick bout. Dan Severn is looking strong and could he be the one to stop Race? If I had to make a guess out of who is left to take it all I'm going with Race or Buddy Rogers. I'm really enjoying the tournament Bookerbill. By the way, could we get a list of the past winners?

Thanks for the feedback everyone @nick_Nuke: I don’t think Hawk or Ellering really care either. A win is a win. jmelton: you make a very interesting point about the managers. Eaton has gone deep into the tournament before with Cornette’s assistance and Bockwinkel has won the tournament thanks to some assistance from The Brain along the way @cruefan: Bobo Brazil won the first tournament beating Killer Kowalski in the finals and Nick Bockwinkel won the second with a win over the Andre the Giant. As an interesting side note, both finals ended with cats eyes rolls. Buddy Rogers (8) v. Steve Williams (24) Rogers looks like he may deck Gary Michael Cappetta and Williams saves the day. Rogers gains the upper hand but Williams sends him into the ring post. Williams with a deathjump clothesline and Rogers bails to the floor. Williams is out after him and the Nature Boy runs Williams into the ring post and earns the second disqualification of the round of 16.

Thanks Lordhumongous for following along.
Terry Gordy (13) v. Mr. Saito (29)
Both of these men made impacts in Japan and North America during their careers winning multiple titles. Handshake gets us going and fans settle in. Saito takes an early advantage and hits a SAITO SUPLEX for a 1 count (R9/P3). Saito connects with a deathjump smash and tosses his opponent to the floor. Saito and Gordy brawl around the ring and the fans eat it up. Gordy gets the upper hand and tosses Saito back inside. Running lariat. Gordy hooks the leg and is onto the quarterfinals (R2/P3). Saito is snake bitten.

Rob Van Dam (5) w/Bill Alfonso v. Bobby Eaton (53) w/Jim Cornette
The antics of Alfonso and Cornette at ringside have the fans roaring. Meanwhile in the ring Eaton takes control early on and uses a slingshot in the corner to set up a deathjump smash. ALABAMA JAM for 1 (R9/P2). Van Dam comes back with a series of punches but hot dogs to the fans allowing Eaton to quickly get back into the match. Flying knee drop sets us an ALABAMA JAM for a 1 count (R9/P3). Cornette chokes out Van Dam with his tennis racket drawing great heat. Van Dam is able to come back and puts together a string of impressive high impact moves. The action goes outside where Eaton runs Van Dam into the ring post shoulder first. Eaton deathjumps straight into Van Dam’s boot. Rolling Thunder for 1 (R9/P3). Rolling Thunder again followed by a split legged moonsault for a 1 count (R11/P4). Alfonso calls for the Van Daminator but RVD waves him off. Eaton counters a clothesline with one of his own and both men go down in a heap. Van Dam is up first. FIVE STAR FROG SPLASH. 1, kick out! (R12/P7). Eaton is fired up and goes of the offensive but Van Dam counters a shoulder tackle and then hits a standing moonsault. Van Dam crushes Eaton with a leg drop across the guardrail and the covers him for the win (R6/P6).

Nice wins for both Terry Gordy and RVD, RVD vs. Eaton was a great bout. I see Buddy Rogers is out so now I'm pulling for Harley Race to take it all.

The Crusher (31) v Greg Valentine (50) w/Captain Lou Albano
Two of wrestling’s toughest competitors collided in the next bout. The fans new that this one was not going to be pretty. Both men brawl from the opening bell. Crusher uses a face rake to set up a body slam for a 2 count (R6/P4). The action starts to go in and out of the ring. Valentine runs Crusher into the ring post busting him open. Crusher is able to catch Valentine climbing the buckles and tosses The Hammer to the mat. The fans explode. Crusher rams Valentine’s face into the ringside rails busting him open. Suddenly the bell sounds and Crusher has been disqualified. The fans are about ready to riot as Albano quickly collects his man and heads to the back on to the next round.

Thanks for the comments Kamala
Nick Bockwinkel (7) w/Bobby Heenan v. Frank Gotch (10)
Heenan lead Bockwinkel to victory in the last tournament and he was looking to do the same this time around. Two of the top ten seeds are ready for action. The weasel chant is deafening. Gotch does not know what to make of the crowd’s reaction. Both men use near perfect counters as the match goes back and forth. Bockwinkel goes on a run and is able to get a 1 count after a choke on the ropes (R9/P1). Gotch is sent into the ropes and rebounds with a shoulder ram and immediately applies a crossface and arm bar. Bockwinkel scramble to the ropes (R6/P3). Gotch moves to a guillotine choke but Bockwinkel prevents it from being fully locked in (R9/P4). Bockwinkel is able to uses a pair of dropkicks to turns things around. Bockwinkel works over Gotch at ringside but Gotch shows he can brawl as well as the tear up ringside. Bockwinkel holds the advantage as the action returns to the ring. A back suplex sets up a BOCKWINKEL SLEEPER and Bockwinkel advances to the next round (R3/P4).
