A Whopper of an Overdue Update:
Been playing a bunch the last few weeks, and have a fair amount to type up in my fed thread. So, without further adieu, here we go on this monstrous update!
*I've gone to a season-format, similar to what many of you have done in your own feds. Now, for me, its still "real time", in that my fed is in April of 2012. But, I'm playing 2-3 months blocks of time, and having that equal one season.
I just finished off GWA's Season One (i.e., the first season of the GWA in this new format). The season ending card was my first ever "World Series of Wrestling", pitting 3-man tag teams against one another first in their home fed, and the final pitted the winner of the WWA against the winner of the GWF. It came down to the all-star team of Lou Thesz, Freddie Blassie, and Mil Mascaras defeating the GWF team of Star Warrior, Omega, and Aegis, allowing the WWA to capture the first World Series title! Thesz and Blassie both had great seasons for the WWA, while Aegis not only had a great season in the GWF, he won Wrestler of the Year for Season One!
Other key awards went to the Hamilton Wrecking Crew for Tag-Team of the Year, Lou Thesz for Most Outstanding Wrestler, Freddie Blassie for Heel of the Year, and the Feud of the Year went to the Hamilton Wrecking Crew vs. The Greek Gods!
*While we're on the subject of The Greek Gods, I held my annual Hall of Fame elections (I pick the HOF selections each April, to go into my own personal HOF). The Gods were selected, along with New Order (first team to truly challenge the Gladiators), and Mandrill (the top heel of his day...and still a top heel!).
*Alright, alright...I caved on not having secondary titles! I missed the Intercontinental Title, so brought it back as the GWF's secondary singles strap. The All-American Title is the WWA's secondary singles strap, and is the combination of my old WWA United States title, and my old AAW title. Had a great feud going for this belt between Ric Flair (courtesy of LOW Bootlegs...shameless plug!) and Sonny Owens (one of Dale B's classic bootlegs), with Flair finally winning the strap.
*The Federation Cup has become of my favorite ideas, just loving it. I'm keeping it to tag teams, with the winning team for the winning federation continuing to defend the cup. Right now that's Omega & Aegis, now having successfully defended the Cup 5 times. It keeps the overall emphasis on the years-old rivalry between the two member leagues of the GWA, namely the GWF and WWA, so I love it.
*Current top feuds are Pegasus vs. Vengeance, Vengeance vs. Spike (they're actually locking up for the GWF strap soon!), The Macho Man (aka Freak Out from GWFZ) vs. Rising Sun (a little Steamboat-Savage thing going here!), and The Medics (Dr. Payne and The Surgeon) vs. Y2K & Varsity over the tag straps in the GWF.
In the WWA, its Rogers vs. Thesz and Strangler Lewis over the WWA strap, Stevens (ol' Ray has won 3 Tag-Team titles with 3 different partners now) & Shane vs. Quackenbush & Saint over the WWA tag straps, and a great interpromotional rivalry going on right now pitting RVD, Sabu, and D'Lo Brown vs. The Betrayer, Balaal, and "Stud" Warrior of the GWF!
The zaniness continues in the GWA folks, as the war between The GWF and WWA continues to wage. Thanks for reading along, and I'm going to pull a Meltzer, and not edit this post at all!
