For you fans of World of Sport, I thought that new name for my federation alliance might grab your attention! The name “Global Wrestling Alliance” really is a bit of a misnomer, in that it implies one fed, when what I really have is 2 promotions working together under an umbrella agreement. So, forgive me, as the name “Joint Promotions” is simply more appropriate, and the British in me likes it! ;D
Well, I tried. I tried posting card results for a while, and just finally ran out of gas. Its just not my bag. I so admire…and do read…those of you who are creative enough and energetic enough to post your results in the manner in which you do. I just find it becomes too much like work for me.
But…I do like talking about my little corner of the wrestling world from time to time, so perhaps this model will work. Which is simply a return to my stream-of-consciousness blogging-style that I employed some time ago. When the spirit moves me, and I’ve got fun news to report from my feds, I’ll type up a post and share it (with anyone bored enough to read it!).
So, let’s catch up, as a fair amount has transpired over the past few months (if you’re a Marvel fan from days ago, this format will look awfully familiar!). By the by, I now play in “season” format. 6 months equals one season, so I have 2 seasons in a year. I’ve found that 6-month increments just work better for record-keeping’s sake. I’m at the tail end of Season 4 (i.e., the 4th season of the new Joint Promotions format).
ITEM: Godsend shatters the record for most title defenses for BOTH feds!
Yep, my favorite heel of all time broke the previous record for successful World Title Defenses (which was 23), and did that better by 10 more. Just a remarkable run. And, it wasn’t defenses against tomato cans folks. He had a great running feud with Big Superstar (who finally ended his title run), and also had an inter-promotional feud with Lou Thesz over the belt. Godsend is now the stuff of legend in my wrestling world. While he doesn’t have as many total World Titles (Chaos holds that record with 12), I think based upon this remarkable run, he goes down as my greatest GWF World Champion to this point. He’s cooling his heels a bit at the moment but he will return at some point in time!
ITEM: Not to be outdone, unlikely Adam Pearce shatters the record for title defenses in the WWA!
On the heels of Godsend’s great run, Adam Pearce defeated Bob Backlund for the World title in the WWA a few months ago, and then defended it successfully for 21 more times before falling to Lou Thesz in a rematch. Now, I did use his updated color card, which some purists may not like, but hey…I like Pearce! He’s a throwback, and will most assuredly win my Season 4 Most Improved, as well as Best Heel, Award.
ITEM: New format announced for the Federation Cup!
Borrowing from Reno’s fed format, the Federation Cup has now gone to a season-long contest between the two feds. Each week, I set aside special matches that pit singles and tag-teams from each fed against one another in special “Federation Cup Series” matches. The federation with the best Won-Loss record in these matches at the end of the Season wins the coveted Federation Cup, recognizing the top wrestling federation of Joint Promotions for that Season.
The WWA won Season 3’s series, but trails for Season 4 with but a couple of weeks remaining! Top bouts in this series have included a feud series between Bobo Brazil of the WWA and The Draconian Sheik of the GWF (didn’t really have to stretch the imagination much on that one!), Andre (WWA) vs. End of Days (GWF), The Tolos Brothers (WWA) vs. The Greek Gods (GWF), and as mentioned, Lou Thesz (WWA) vs. Godsend (GWF…and that feud was over the GWF title!). It’s been a ton of fun!
That pretty much catches everyone up. Thanks for reading along, and I’ll keep the dice dizzy in my corner of the universe.

I’ve been collecting the colored GWF Originals like many of you have for some time now. Only, I haven’t used them much. I’m still partial to the “original” Originals if you will, still think those are some of the best drawings done in the history of the game.
So, the other night I just decided I’d have some fun with these new colored cards, and instead of using them as alternate takes on classic GWF characters, I’d use them as separate and unique new wrestlers. I’m working on tweaking some of the card backs a bit, to make each card truly different from the character its intended to be. But, I have come up with a fair amount of wrestler names and backgrounds for these cards, and thought I’d post them here for anyone bored enough to want to read them. Here goes:
-Star Warrior = Nova. I know, I know…not too original here, as his finisher is similarly named. But, it works for me…the art just looks like a Nova-kinda guy! He’ll still be a face, and will hail from Folmahaut (or however its spelled…the home of Justice).
-Thantos = Boris Markov. The art, for some odd reason, makes me think of Boris Malenko, and I cannot for the life of me figure out why. Hence, the name. He’ll be a heel, from Earth, and a lot of his moves I’ll base on old Boris Malenko’s style (thank goodness for YouTube!).
-Pit Viper = Venom. This character will be Pit Viper/Dragonmaster’s cousin, and he’ll be a full-blown heel. He will hail from Titan, and will be very jealous of his cousin’s fame and popularity, certainly as Dragonmaster, leading to the inevitable feud.
-Invincible Krakan = Colonel Kromm. Another military type, from CTA-102, albeit younger than Krakan. He’ll still be a heel of course, and his moveset I’m going to model more along the lines of Colonel DeBeers.
-Comrade Terror = Baron Draxx. Picture a Cygnusian Baron Von Raschke, because that’s what he’ll be!
-Killer Queen = George Street. A very distant relative of Exotic Adrian Street, minus the robotic parts. His card art kind of screams Adrian Street anyway.
That’s what I’ve come up with so far fans. I’d be interested if anyone’s got ideas for other characters, and welcome any and all discussion about it. Thanks for reading along, and Merry Christmas everyone!

Well, what do you know, I'm posting an actual card, featuring my new system, based upon "The Game" by Reno and Josh (superb fed thread if you haven't already read it). FORMAT: 1. GWF (COTG and GWFZ characters...all years) VS. WWA (LOW, LOTF, and reality-based bootlegs, again all years, or Kronos-style). 2. Each card represents one "week" in my Season. 52 cards equals a year. 3. Each fed will put up their titles against wrestlers from the other fed. In short, each fed's trying to win the other fed's titles. 4. A secondary title win (Intercontinental and United States) counts as 2 points for the winning fed. Tag titles count as 3 points, and World Titles count as 4 points. DQ wins, regardless of title, count as 1 point only. 5. At the end of each season, the fed with the most points wins the Federation Cup. Got it? Great. Let's begin! JOINT PROMOTIONS PRESENTS...THE FEDERATION CUP RACE!! The matches: GWF Matches:*Intercontinental Title: Excalibur d. Don Muraco (2 points to GWF) *World Tag Titles: S.C.U.M. d. TitanPower (3 points to the WWA) **World Heavyweight Title: Avarice d. Strangler Lewis (4 points to the GWF) WWA Matches:*United States Title: Tommy Rich d. "Natural Man" Bobby Roberts (2 points to the WWA) *World Tag Titles: Hamilton Wrecking Crew d. The Greek Gods (3 points to the WWA) **World Heavyweight Title: Freddy Blassie d. Wolf in a 4 3/4 star classic!! (4 points to the WWA). WWA cleans house this week fans, capturing the week, winning 12-6! Man alive, that was fun. Think I now know why Reno and Josh have been doing this for 20+ years!! I'm lazy about posting, but from time to time, will try and do so for all you fans of Joint Promotions...yep...all one of you!
