Super stoked to see Devitt in the US and on NXT and then, probably sooner than later, on RAW or Smackdown. I honestly believe he could be the next big star not shoved down our throats (Hey, I really like Roman Reigns, but he's about as ready for this push as Jack Swagger was a few years back).
With Punk gone and Bryan out indefinitely, Devitt could easily fill the void and become a huge star. Unlike a lot of guys who've become popular in Japan, his mic work is impeccable and even got him over more in NJPW which is a rarity for gaijin. His work ethic is second to none, his moveset is fantastic and probably won't have to be toned down a la KENTA, and I think he can work face or heel easily. And can you imagine the matches we could get out a Devitt/Rollins feud or Devitt/KENTA or Devitt/Zayn or, well, pretty much Devitt/anyone.
Anyone else care to give thoughts?

But more importantly: what dumb gimmick fits him best?
JK. It's one more roster spot in WWE that will be filled by someone worthy rather than someone like Mojo Rawley.

Haha, right. In my excitement, I'd neglected to consider that they'd probably want to saddle him with an unnecessary gimmick. Hopefully, wiser heads will prevail and he'll be able to just be "Devitt" and do his thing. We'll see.
Oh, MOjo... The only one "hyped" about Mojo is Mojo...

I'm curious with these rather high level NXT signings if they will still change their names. I mean, they announced both KENTA and Fergal Devitt by the names they've been known by for years. It would be awfully weird to change them but, then again, they changed Bryan Danielson and others who were pretty well known outside of WWE.

I have little doubt that they will change their names.
WWE wants trademarked names for all the merch the Universe buys. $$$

I wouldn't be so sure about KENTA. A big reason for his signing was his visibility in Japan as the get ready to launch the network in international markets. Changing his name might defeat that purpose. Not sure if the same can be said for Devitt, but his international visibility may keep his name safe, too.
Time will tell

I think it benefits the wrestler to have his name changed. For instance, take a guy like Colt Cabana. Unfortunately, things didn't work out for Scotty Goldman in WWE. No prob, as everyone knew who Colt Cabana was when he returned to the indy circuit. Same goes for Nigel "Desmond Wolfe" McGuinness. And Max and Jeremy Buck as well...
